Mario Mandzukic or Arnautovic

Who should United sign?

Voted Mandzukic, but can people stop pretending that Arnautovic is some kind of average player. He's a very, very good player.

Mandzukic is the antithesis of what I want to see on a football pitch, but Mourinho can't seem toi live without a Pulisball option, the biggest worry would be that he'd not just roll him off the bench like Fellaini, but that he'd start him regularly in a wider role like Allegri does. With Arnautovic at least there's some flair and even though I doubt his temprament to sit on the bench, he'd be getting such a huge jump from where he is that it's possible he could be convinced, neither should be starters though.

While Real is winning CL's for fun here's United being linked to the likes of Arnautovic.

Bite me.

What is 'very, very good' about Arnautovic?

You could actually watch him play and find out regardless?

I have he’s average and we don’t require him as a back up striker let alone an option for the left side of an attack. Bloody pointless.

As a back up option to Lukaku, it would be Mandzukic I think, but at 32 I wouldn't see him as a potential signing. Arnautovic is more suited to a club like West Ham, not a top 4 club player I don't think. Way too much of a wildcard and I doubt Mourinho would sign him after their relationship at Inter.

We could do with that bit extra up front, a "last roll of the dice" kind of player. Especially with Fellaini leaving.

And we are over-reliant on Lukaku at the moment (although many of us would like to see Martial or Rashford given more of a chance upfront rather than bringing in Mandzukic)

Having said that, along with the Bale links, it seems a tad unlikely that we'll be adding attacking reinforcements - unless Martial or Mata leave or we send Rashford out on loan.

We need 4/5 additions to the defence/midfield - can we really see a striker and a winger coming in as well?

When was the last time we signed 6 or 7 players in one summer?

Did plenty of times and was left frustrated by his decision-making.
.

That's not a fair assessment. Because despite this said decision making he was West Hams player of the year. Seems like those watching him every game rate him.

Not to mention I find Pogbas decision making awful at times . Still an incredible player.

Because he is not good. Simple. He plays defence, runs, fights but as a goal scorer he is not good.

He is good, otherwise he wouldn't be a staple in a clearly superior team to us. Being a good goalscorer or not he is not Everton quality and is most definitely above United quality given the way we have performed this season.

Lol superior team? I wouldn’t go that far. Fabinho Delph has spent most of the season playing left back for Man City. Is he know one of the best left backs in world football, playing for a superior team and all. I would say Delph is Everton quality too.

Neither. Those are everton level signings

So Mandzukic who has won leagues in Germany and Italy and won the CL with Bayern is a Everton level player? What exactly does that make Lukaku he hasn't won anything and we signed him from Everton

Would prefer we sign neither of them and instead give Rashford a run of games if Lukaku is unfit

Rashford gets a run of games, we drop points due to his inconsistent performances and fall behind in the title race. City are champions elect in March and Mourinho is sacked.

Or Mertens, but you know the idea isn't so much an experienced back-up striker, it's a big long ball option, because that's Mourinho's answer whenever we are struggling to score.

Why on earth would you sign Mertens or Vardy as a backup

Like, you do realise the point of a backup is that they don’t play many games and mostly come off the bench. Mertens and Vardy are top class strikers why would they wanna come and sit on our bench? Either that or you’re suggesting that despite spending 90m on a striker last summer we should focus on signing a guy who’s gonna shove him out of the team. If we sign a backup it’s a cheap player who will be willing to sit on the bench and be there for when Lukaku is injured/needs a rest.

I just feel like people live in a fantasy world where life is a fifa career mode game

You are currently in a thread where one of these back-ups has just been touted at £50M, the idea of us getting any attacker cheap is unlikely. As for the bench, Vardy and Mertens are both 31, the idea of them fancying a huge wage to come and sit on our bench is not any more outlandish than suggesting the two names in this thread title would be willing to do the same.

We obviously won't pay that, we obviously won't sign him if thats the cost.

That's the point though, the idea that there's some back-up striker out there who is of the caliber required, for a reasonable fee and who is willing to be come sit on the bench, is fanatasy.

Mertens and Vardy would earn more money here than they do at their current clubs and if Lukaku is out of form then they wouldnt be back ups anymore, there are two very good reasons why both players would join.
