No one think rashford gets a bit too much hate? He is a youth product that has scored loads of goals for us. Some people talking about him like he is angel di Maria or tevez

Omg he's actually going?? feck yes! Hope he can at least be bothered putting in enough effort to make Villa activate that £40m clause.

40M + 70% salary coverage is a brilliant bit of business. Let’s hope he hits a purple patch like Lingard at West Ham.

I have waited this for years now. Am super happy because it gives the club and the players right signals of standards. These decisions will be remembered for long time and seen as pivotal moments. Let him be the rotten apple elsewhere.

£40m buy option? That's more than I thought. Here's hoping he does just enough for them to activate it.

Just think, this summer we could be moving Sancho and Rashford on.

Rashford never looked any worse than all of the other players that were playing like garbage at the time. If Amorim cut the players who weren't fighting like they should be, we wouldn't be able to field a team.

In a world in which Hojlund is continuously thrown out there to be completely useless, is there really a version of Rashford that doesn't offer at least equal or better productivity?

Let's not kid ourselves, there are maybe 3 or 4 players who deserve to be out there.
Agree about the 3 or 4, but the key difference is that some players clearly try, but just aren’t good enough.

Rashford just doesn’t put the effort in, and hasn’t for at least 18 months now.

I’ll always appreciate effort that doesn’t work over a player who doesn’t try, any day of the week.

Baggio was unbelievable at Juventus
He was but there was always issues with him feeling comfortable in a top club setting. That mainly stems by how the deal was done with Fiorentina. The owners pushed the narrative that he wanted out thus pushing the heat on him. Turned out that they pushed him out with Juventus being happy to play along to the farce. Then they pushed him out in favor of del piero

Baggio is a very complex character. He is the most loved football person in Italy yet he prefers living the life of a farmer then stay in the football limelight

Cute of Villa to allow us to list our valuation of Rashford via the option to buy clause, even better that we save on ~£5M of his wages that we can use to bring someone like Tel in for the rest of the season.

Hopefully he does well and that option is activated. Would be a good start to the summer PSR wise. Add in the money for Sancho too being all but guaranteed now given where Chelsea are in the table.

Plenty still to clear out but that would be a great way to kick things off.

I could be wrong but I don’t think Marcus has Villa down as one of the places he’d like to go for when seeking his “new challenges elsewhere”. What a come down.

40m is a good deal considering the contract he’s on. Let’s hope he does well at Villa and they trigger it.

Worse case scenario now is he has a terrible loan move and they send him back

He will bang them in for Villa if there's a contract at stake then as soon as he signs it he will stop trying if previous performances are any indication.

He'll be a hit for them. The bad apple has been removed so there should be no more excuses about the general atmosphere at United. Didn't like how the club singled him out as the main culprit for everything that's wrong.

That's important to remember, it wouldn't just be 40m it would also be us being around 15m better off per year on top.

All for a player who hasn't performed well for us for quite some time and is surplus to requirements.

Pogba is 10 times Rashford will ever be and his trophy cabinet is something the latter will never remotely achieve even in his wildest dreams.

Rashford is the symbol of the Glazer's era and everything that's wrong with MU. Absolute scrubs being worshipped, put on a pedestal and given a king's ransom to just show up and somewhat play football when they can be arsed.

This emotional investment for bang average players as well as the unconditional love and infinite patience for utterly limited try-hards just because they run a lot, is why MU have stopped to be relevant for more than a decade. The same can be said for the managers. Small-time mentality which lead MU to be run as a family business and not the international football juggernaut it once was.

INEOS want to shake things up and it should rightly start with Rashford.
Great post, 100% agree, there are people still today writing emotional posts about him. He lies to the media that he breathes the club etc.

Carries on regular late night partying and then as soon as a manager that demands effort comes, he downs tools during our most difficult period. And still has no shame, won't even take a wage cut to join giants clubs like Milan or a Barca. He is lucky even Villa took him to be honest.

I have zero sympathy for him, even his most ardent supporters cannot defend his actions. I don't care if you came through the youth, or Manchester, you just earn your place. Amad is the complete opposite, get treated badly by the previous manager, puts his head down and does even more effort, even though he is the main players signs a very good contract not greedy at all and runs like Ruben terms: a mad dog and is now our star player, he should get the No10 shirt as a big good riddance to Rashford.

TBF even Garnacho, who I have questioned a lot has behaved far more like what you'd hope a man Utd youth player would.

It is precisely because he is a youth product that he gets the amount of stick he does. There is a notion that he is supposed to innately set standards because he came up through the academy, but that isn't who he is naturally. No real leaders have been at the club for a sustained period or have won trophies over and over again elsewhere who were also able to create that mindset within the club. It was assumed players like Varane and Casemiro would help, but the situation was far too gone by the time they came in.

Rashford is smack bang in the middle of a phase of his career where he is meant to be a leader. He has a contract demonstrating the club's commitment to him and that status, but we got it wrong because that isn't who he is. The fact that he has pretty publically run away from that responsibility by being out partying then feigning illness, generally not putting a shift in on the pitch and then coming out in the media saying he wants a new challenge directly after being given a new challenge by a new coach ... I get why some fans are pretty pissed off. Some are taking it too far, of course, but where it stems from is in plain sight, and it perhaps hurts more because of his homegrown status.

It’s sad in a way that someone who had so much potential just never developed properly. It also however if this does go through properly feels like finally a new beginning.

Ruben called it as soon as he came in, people cheating and not giving their all for their team mates won’t play or be at the club, said he was a player so he knew all the tricks and we all knew that Rashford was a bit of a con artist in that regards.

So rightly so Ruben has done what he said he would, people not giving their all will not be at the club.

Hopefully Rashford does well enough to make his move permanent but not well enough that he goes on some sort of revenge tour and the penny finally drops.

Apologies if it’s already been answered, but can anyone tell me whether wages (between player and new club) are already agreed as part of the “option to buy”? Or would they need to negotiate those if the clause is triggered by Villa?

If the answer is yes, then Villa have set themselves up quite well. If Rashford shows some effort and scores 8 goals before the end of the season, they will snap him up for £40m (and £80m player at that stage). But if they STILL need negotiate with him, it isn’t quite as good of a situation.

Agree, he deleted his social media, put his head down and got back into the team, is taking Ruben's instructions and trying to implement them.

Let's see if he improves his finishing while he is it at , .

I think it has been agreed.

Villa wants him for the short term boost. He wants Villa to showcase that he's still got it and secure a move to a bigger club in the summer. All while we got rid of him. win-win-win

Reportedly they have already agreed a 3 year contract in case they trigger the option to buy. Haven't seen anything on how much he would earn in wages though.

It's a sad ending to a journey that i thought would go differently. The club has been a shambles this past decade, and rashford has been a source of frustration for the fans and manager, and he has become a pain. Even in tough times, i expceted the local led, who gets it, to be the one always running through brick walls, not for the manager, but for the club and for the fans.

It makes sense that he moves on. I have wanted him gone for a while, but it is still a sad day.

I'm in this camp. One of the biggest pisstakers the club has ever put up with. Every excuse in the book and huge media defending him. If he were foreign would be ripped to shreds by them

Ambling around the pitch and half arseing it in training isn't 'people around him'
