Sneaky bum time - Vaccination status: dozed off
His general play is so weak at times. He needs to improve that truly be a top player. Too much bobbling around, either running into defenders or struggling to trap the ball.
Rashford played out of position last night. Some of you are reading too much about this.
Yet you’ve somehow chosen to blame only Marcus. . .He doesn't make runs unless it's in behind on a high line, he doesn't put in any effort to draw defenders and it allows the defense to easily maintain their shape. There is an interdependency between the front three and if one isn't working for the team, it makes it very difficult for the other two to get space to operate. Both Garnacho and Antony were surrounded and easily cut off every time they had the ball.
To me he really doesn't want to play number 9.
He never runs behind the defenders in central positions whereas he does it 100 times on the left.
He's not strong enough neither to face a low block.
But to me it's his attitude. He didn't wanted to play there and didn't really worked at his position.
Hope that Martial can come back next week to play at least 30min so Rashford can have a go on the left
It's like he's worried about his back.Agreed, he has his flaws as a no. 9 but the biggest one is his lack of desire to play there. He doesn't relish the physicality which also doesn't mean he doesn't have it. He's just not interested in showing it and duelling with defenders most of the time.
He's terrible defensively on the LW, thats not a new thing. His goals last season covered up a lot of flaws that are still in his game. The criticism is on here is so overboard, the whole team was extremely poor. To start labelling him lazy is ridiculous and every one is basing it on one play in the game.
IF Martial was fit, and Holjlund was available, that's where he'd have played. He was shit last night, nothing came off, and he's not a number 9 by any stretch. He never win's headers from long balls, sometimes he doesn't even jump. He is so much better when he receives the ball out wide and has the option to cut in or go outside. When he's through the middle he does not have the nouse to play that position, and drifts out of games.Ten Hag still using Rashford badly. If only plays well and affects the game on the LW. Using him as a ST or RW or anywhere else is waste of his abilities, He should perform better regardless, but he looks a different player on LW. Keep him there.

he actually had a moment in second half i think where he charged down a defender, actually won the header off the bounce, and seemingly could be thru in our goal. Then got forced wide, did some weird little behind the back cutback attempt with the ball, and was yards away from actually succeeding with it and getting a shot off.
I did notice in the 1st half he made a half hearted attempt at jumping for a header around the halfway line. He got beaten but then started clutching his back. After that he didn’t really attempt to win anymoreAre we back to he is playing injured again. If you’re on the pitch it’s not a valid excuse.
Yes, I noticed that as well. I didn't he would win it, and not only did he win the header, it threw the defender off and he managed to get away from him but only to make that disappointing skill/move that broke down the attack (I think? Need to rewatch that sequence again). He needs to stop being so tunned-visioned and look up more, but to be fair most of his team-mates were guilty doing the same at some point during the game.he actually had a moment in second half i think where he charged down a defender, actually won the header off the bounce, and seemingly could be thru in our goal. He plays up front & scores, crickets. He plays up front & doesn’t score, he’s lazy [which is what your first few sentences basically amount to].
As I said he’s not the ideal no.9 but Garnacho has yet to prove he can start games & Antony is a fecking myth. It’s difficult to be interdependent when he’s shifted from his best position & whoever is playing there is usually a lot worse than he is.
Typically a bit sympathetic to Rashford seeing as he seems to get a harsher ride from certain posters on here but 100% agree with that assessment from last night. Everything he did looked half arsed from the closing down to basically anything else, worrying thing is he wasn't alone the whole team was so disjointed.Have you read the title of the thread?
Rashford did play lazy, and has done far too much throughout his career. You either don't understand there's a big distinction between missed chances, unsuccessful dribbles or bad passes, and simply not putting in the requisite effort, or you don't want to. I can live with the latter as it happens to every player, but there's no excuse for the former.
This isn't an opinion. Watch the match. He was lazy and uninterested and that's a fact.
He's shown he can be a very good passer when he picks his head up and is decisive. He had a few really nice assists last but could and should have had more. I've seen him play intricate passes in the box as well especially with Martial, and his movement in the box can be very intelligent. It's just a matter of effort and want to.He regularly struggles with the basics of football. That alone is reason enough he won't ever be an elite player.
When he has a purple patch just about every shot goes in but even then the other parts of his game is still lacking..
