We're stuck with him. No team in the world will buy him and pay his £325k a week wage.

Sancho, him, Antony....that's about 800k-900k per week in wages (more than 40m/year), depending on who you believe, on pretty lengthy contracts. It would be near impossible to get rid of any one of them. Most likely we'll be paying part of their wages till the end of their contracts to play for other clubs.

me and my friends all came into consensus that "he was just faking injury to hide embarrassing performance" when we saw him walked off the pitch.

For sure. The Cov player didn't do anything to him so unless it's how he dived onto his foot (which I doubt) it's just acting.

Imagine your new boss running a marathon then coming to watch you play and you go off with “cramp”

Wow yeah never thought of that.I bet he was thinking I've just ran 26 miles and I could put more effort in than that lazy bastard. Hopefully that coincidence makes his decision alot easier.

There's barely a peep of criticism from the senior football writers, again. Even when criticism becomes unavoidable, the narrative switches straight from 'genuis talent' to 'there might be personal issues, so you should feel bad for thinking negatively about him'

He bypasses all criticism every other player would get. We need to stop pretending we don't know the reason for this and the reason why all of the senior football writers protect him. It isn't because they think he's doing well and are unaware of the discontent amongst fans that's been brewing for months, leading to him being booed as he came off yesterday.

One of the pillars of journalism: protect your sources.

The awareness of what's around him on the football pitch is the big worry for me. He's constantly caught with the ball, passing into spaces where there's cover and running into opposition.

If the new footballing hierarchy think he's a player we need in our squad on that wage, I'd be shocked. In any other business, you'd look at his output for what he's getting paid and you know you'd find better for cheaper.
Genuinely believe that he’s least intelligent first team regular we have. His passing in and around the box, judgment of aerial balls, ability with the back to goal, split second / muscle memory decision making of when to accelerate, change direction or which pass to make in the final third, are all absolutely terrible. A good example is yesterday - as usual he spent the entire game playing nothing passes and running into traffic, nothing in between. One rare moment he decided that he was bored of those two irrelevant actions and played a cross field ball to Garnacho which was surprisingly good and put him in a decent position.

That’s why comparisons to Saka and Co (the wingers whose quality matches their reputation) are so amusing. Sure if you only compare G/A you could at various periods make some comparison. But in reality Saka is streets ahead because he doesn’t just produce the odd moment or two a game - he is generally a high quality footballer and Rashford is generally mediocre.

Can only assume he does what he is told by the manager, that is why he keeps getting picked.

Clearly has a clause in his contract that if he's fit, he plays. Can't see any other reason how a player so utterly useless for such a long period still starts. Where's our standards?
Would not be surprised. Even when he's dropped he's one of the first subs. We indulge too many overrated, underperforming players.

Thankfully Pogba turned down our 'low and insulting' offer of 300+k ...
And ddgs ran out his years

Insane the mistakes we kept repeating

If PSG had a casual interest and offered £40m, take it or leave it, towards the end of the summer window, would you really turn it down?

That's removing the entire commitment of the remaining 4 years of his absurd contract and giving us £40m pure profit.

We would be mad to turn it down.
The issue is they wont come knocking at our door for Marcus, in fact no one will.

In Rashfords defence, at least he shows up in big games - if only in moments. Rashford's inconsistencies are the most baffling, as we know he has it in him to produce magic when he can be arsed. His floor is just ridiculously low for a player who's ceiling is that high.

I can not understand how ETH who wanted to make a statement could sub Cristiano Fecking Ronaldo but is seemingly powerless to sub Rashy.

Is eth really that stupid? I don’t blame Rashford too much. But why can’t a manager see what we all can. If he is not performing after a full fecking season, maybe he’s not going to play himself in form and needs a rest?

Its baffling how we keep doing the same thing, with keeping him on and subbing off garnacho. He cant keep the ball or do anything with it. Every game, its rinse and repeat.

He''s really been awful, I just hope we can get rid this summer.

Irredeemable this season. Looks like he's lost interest in the game (or at least in playing for us). Needs a reset somewhere else at this stage.

I think he gets slightly misunderstood - I didn't see him as this arrogant diva a lot of people make him out to be.

He's a boyhood fan and been with the club since he was a kid. He probably cares about the club more than most. Plus he seems too introverted to be this arrogant figure - in some ways that's not so good because he doesn't have any sort of relationship with the fans.

As a result of that though he does get frustrated fairly easily. It's no surprise that he plays poorly particularly when the team does, or his goals come in streaky patches. He's not the sort of player to drag a game by it's neck, he's not got that mentality. Shame really.

If an 80+ million bid came in for him I'd seriously consider it. Anything else is derisory and if he want to be a better selling club, accepting 40-60 mil for him is a joke. In a better functioning team, he would be class.

The way he parked his royce and dont give a feck to other people's using the road simply because he's rich is a sign of petulance.

You gotta be croocked down inside to pull this kind of shenanigans and not bothering about many others seeing it.

It's one thing to get a fine, but doing so in that manner shows alot to me.

Not to mention his interviews which shows no sign of humility

So yes. He's a spoilt diva

PR works. Impose a player with a different background and change nothing else, you have an arrogant, overpaid, lazy bottler who pulls out of challenges, collapses to the floor as a result of any semblance of physicality, who shirks defensive responsibilities and has such a nonchalant approach when he gets the ball. As 'Manchester United' a player as Cliff Richard is a gothic, satan-worshipping, heavy metal recording artist.

He's rescued so often but this belief that because he's a local lad and academy graduate, none of the above could possibly be true.

Sorry to say it but it is a very poor take. "Judging people" is a weird thing and people can go very very wrong, hence many people do actually believe that Stalin/Mao Zedong are great men and many abused wives think their husbands are nice men

It wasn’t that unreasonable opinion, he just has a different viewpoint to how most people on the forum see Marcus. It’s not an uncommon opinion from people I speak with in real life.

He's not worth £80m on this eaasons performance and his wages will stop any club putting in a bid for him, we are stuck with him.

an unreasonable opinion held by many then.

tell me which aspect of football he is good at, apart from scoring occasionally goals (once per 5 games this season - which is pretty average)? Is he a good dribbler? or good passer? or is he good at carrying the ball forward or recycling the ball? is he good at link up plays? pressing? tracking back? leadership? If he is good at nothing why is he a "good player"?

he has played 40 odd games this season and got zero MOTM and he is literally ranked the LOWEST (not even the second lowest) senior player in the team on Redcafe - how is the worst performing player not a problem?

look at how he screws up almost every time the ball is at his feet:

A good club would be getting rid of him and bringing a proper footballer in his place. Someone like Khvicha Kvaratskhelia or Nico Williams, both players with more to their game. Or give the position to Garnacho and dip into the South American market for another young talent.

Rashford is the sort of player that you either build a side around or you let him go. He lacks the talent (though he's still an excellent player) and the attitude to justify such endeavor. You can't build a side around a player who tend to switch off whenever something within the club irks him

I think hes relationship is unrepairably broken with the fanbase.
I think we should be speaking with PSG to see if there is interest in taking him. They'll need a high profile No9 next season....

Thinking any club is going to offer £50m or £80m for Rashford, is pure delusional.
If we could get anywhere close to half of that, we should snap their hands off.
The wages released could pay for the wages of 3 good players.

Don't know what everyone's smoking here. Stop your agendas. Forgot 30 goals so soon?

The problem is that it feels like a different problem with Rashford, he just looks mostly uninterested half the time, not just talking about todays game. There's something fundamentally wrong there even if Rashford says otherwise, everybody can see it it's not like we don't have eyes. I'm not going to question his ability because he clearly has it, even if I don't think he's at the level of say an Mbappe as some might say. Not only that but that 30 goal season looks like an outlier in what is otherwise a 5 goal season before and now looking to only maybe be 10+ goal season this year.

Hell people been slagging off Hojlund most of the season and not only has he scored more goals in less games but at least he looks like he gives a shit half the time, so why does Rashford get a free pass?

Whatever issues he has, he can get the feck out of here and take the baggage elsewhere. This is not a therapy club.

Or maybe there are no issues but more of a disinterested, "i have made it" kind of footballer who thinks consistently performing isn't required. He has been given enough chances.

Thing is, I thought he started very brightly. His dribbling looked decent and Coventry players started to swarm towards him as he was looking dangerous, leaving spaces elsewhere.

Then the second half happened...

It's almost like, if something doesn't go his way early on, it'll all turn to shit.
