It was a bad performance in every way. It also wasn’t helped by having absolutely no partner on that left wing. AWB was constantly making awkward runs or messing up passes, so Rashford almost never got isolated against a fullback.

In our current situation we have players performing poorly at an individual level made worse by the tactics or their teammates. It’s fecking dire.

Feck all the tactical talk and who he’s partnered with. He’s fecking lazy. Thats the biggest issue. Regardless of how you perform, the barest minimum is to work hard. He doesn’t do it. He’s a disgrace.

Sick of his half arsed performances. He can put out all the statements he wants, he doesn't want to work hard on match days which is the bare minimum required.
He's a talented player but what is with him constantly dribbling into defenders.
I think it's time he goes.

Reminds me of the "pro" dude your friend brought for the Sunday game, with the expensive cleats and epilated legs, who is treading lightly, nursing some injury and giving maximum 50% because the game is beneath him, ending up being more useless than the guy who had a joint and a beer before the game.

Barely noticed he was on the pitch sadly.

Thing with Rashford was in difficult times for either him or the club you could rely on him to put effort in and chase around. Something changed during the Ralf/Ole season where he just stops and sulks, some would say it was warranted.

He looked happy and interested last season, lots of praise for him and ETH and suddenly it all turns sour, was it Sancho, problems off the pitch, not happy with the manager and club again so he's in phoning it in mode most of the time.

As good as he can be perhaps we both need a change, some trust has been lost, perhaps a bit like Lukaku the fan criticism has been taken on too personally and he's at odds.

I'm sure under a different manager he will have a good run for us again but how long will it last until he's in a bad place and is jogging around. I'd be all for keeping the old Rashford.

His England spot is in serious jeopardy and if he still can't get up and deliver a performance, I think its past time to question his desire and admit that his peak has passed. This is the last summer, we can still get a good transfer fee for him, left forward is the easiest position to fill in attack and we have an up and coming potential superstar in Garnacho ready to stake his claim.

Stealing a living here. 350k a week and jogs around the pitch and can't even beat a man anymore. Should be first out the door, but he'll be another Jesse Lingard with people defending him telling the haters that he can turn it around.

Sick of people saying he's off form, he's not.

This. I would honestly give Roy Keane a pay rise just to pick on Rashford repeatedly on Sky Sports because our homegrown idiot really needs to taste that Irish bluntness today, tonight, tomorrow and for every single day coming up until Rashford is sold... or until Rashford picks his head out of his arse.

Utterly awful; I lost count the number of the times Wan-Bissaka overlapped him, and he didn’t pass to him once.

It’s depressing to know he’ll get picked every week no matter how bad his form is.

You could get a player on £50-100k a week to serve up what he has this season. We should sell and try to do Vini Jnr a favour and get him away from that cesspit.

If he was not British, the media would be laughing at us for persisting with him.

He could go an entire year without scoring or even providing an assist, and the Fleet Street cabal will still say ‘he’s going through a bit of bad form at the moment’

He’s not being sold.
He has just signed a long term contract, one of the best paid players in the premier league. The list of teams able to pay him similar wages is small, the list of teams willing to pay him similar wages consists of us

Yeah. Nonsense. I can't be watching that. Pointedly half arsed start to finish. Infuriating.

Wages are a problem, only the likes of PSG could afford him. On current form no one wants him.

This. You can be off form and anything but he is so lazy and no motivation

If he's still a first 11 player in August then absolutely nothing will change.
If these new football savvy executives are all about stats then what's obvious is Obvious.

Yep, absolutely pathetic & it’s even more baffling how he’s not been dropped or called out for it. I assume it’s because we have next to no other options? Really wish we’d sell him.

Sick of people saying he's off form, he's not.

His career is a purple patch in his first 15 games, a (greatly exaggerated) "purple patch" under OGS when his goal tally was topped up with a record number of penalties and a 6-month purple patch under EtH last season.

The rest of the time he's Iwobi, Townsend, Demurai Gray etc...level but without their work-rate

I thought he was more motivated in defence yesterday than comparible games. But for all concerned it is time to move on. We need a creative player who will provide consistent service to Rasmus as well as play off him well.

Sterling’s career post City should be a timely reminder that Rashford’s slump could accelerate further. Unlike the summer before last when he came back in pristine physical condition, he hasnt beeen able to evolve his game and so he is all too predictable for defenders. He has had a very good career but he lacks the skillset to be the leading attacker for a team that wants to qualify for the champions league year in year out let alone challenge for the title.

Thought he was one of the few players who played ok yesterday. Generally kept the ball well and linked up the play. Got his head up but there was little movement for him to find. Also did a lot of useful dirty work tracking back and helping out AWB. Did feel like he was playing with the handbrake on at times but that was the case for all our players, so I guess ETH had given specific instructions to adopt a slow tempo yesterday.

Hard for all of our attackers though when the midfield is as bad as it is currently and the manager doesn’t seem to have implemented any structure. We are basically relying on him producing something from nothing in matches like this and that’s difficult for any player to do consistently.

Nah, he was genuinely very very good in that period before the back injury. It wasn't just the goals, his all round game was very good and he was tearing opposition defences apart. It was the one time in his career where he genuinely looked on the verge of stepping up to the world class level. The only thing I'd say is that it didn't last as long as what some people make out at times.

I always remember how he came back from that back injury after the Covid break and he wasn't so good on the individual level, but it looked like he'd spent that time practicing his passing and creativity as he started creating some great chances for others. I was dreaming of him hopefully combining the two aspects after that season, but unfortunately we got the worst of both worlds instead.

Otherwise I'd largely agree with you. Even in the other seasons where he's scored a good amount of goals he didn't actually play well outside of the goals.

What are his running stats though?

These days, even lazy players are smart enough to know everything they do on the pitch is tracked and converted into data.

I wouldn't be surprised if players like Rashford intentionally make meaningless sprints just so it inflates their data stats

The stats make the picture even clearer

The defense section is Ronaldo / Messi levels. In terms of passing, guys like Jordan Ayew are better than him.

Convinced he has a clause in his contract to be getting all this game time on the back of poor performance after poor performance. Can't stand the bloke.

You could carry one luxury player, but United's front 6 is full of guys who only want to do the attacking side of the game.

Rashy jogging back is no help whatsoever to the team.

Luxury players bring you moments of magic. Right now he's a garbage player who doesn't want to put in the work. If he ever leaves us, he'll likely go the way of JLingz.

Hojlund, Garnacho, Antony, Bruno and Mount when he's available all put in a shift. It's impossible to put in a high press when one player decides he's too good to implement it.

For me i goes back to the Pogba Di Maria and Sancho to this day kind of thing. You shouldn’t have to have a perfect set of circumstances in which to unlock your best player, to get them to track back, tackle and look arsed in a general kind of way. That comes as standard surely? We hire model wannabes with great PR and huge online following with a major question mark over their hunger for the actual game. Players with 1/10th of their fanfare or wages are getting the job done week after week. I’ve had enough of those shite *megastars* phoning it in.

Said it in the match day thread but he is my primary player I want to see gone in the summer. He had so many chances to prove himself but it never lasts for more than three months at a time followed by 6-9 months of complete shite. We really can't build a top team as long as we have players like him in the squad.
