I didn't think he was that bad today? Maybe my expectations are too low now.

At least he ran about a bit but he was largely ineffective. Shame to see what he's become this seasonm

By this seasons standard for him its better. By standalone standards it's still a bit shite.

I hardly ever make negative comments on our players not that they don’t deserve it. But he did try a bit harder but his body language is so off for me. I wish I know what is going on in his head tbh. He should be living a dream - making a good living and playing a game I think he loves. He should leaving sweat and blood on the field each game and sadly it is not there. What a disappointment.

Workrate was much better. That's probably the only positive i can think of but it's better than nothing.

Work rate was better but he has no idea how to play as a striker. Absolutely no clue what runs to make, where to position himself, how to make himself available for a pass or how to receive, shield and lay the ball off. If he is to play, he should play LW where he can use his pace and dribbling ability. How the manager doesn’t see this is criminal.

you mean his pointless long closing down the keeper runs

Matt Turner's big weakness is apparently that he's not very good with his feet so I have a feeling that it was a deliberate tactical decision and if so, seems like Rashford is listening to the manager, which goes against reports that they've had a falling out.

The constant throwing up his arms in frustration with the whole world gets on my nerves. The defenders are going to try to take the ball away from you, Marcus. It is in fact legal for them to do so.

A good living? He’s making money beyond most people’s wildest dreams. Unbelievable money.

Just watching replays of the Liverpool goals.

Jayden Danns, 18 shows young players can give you something (even if only total effort).. think we should have recalled Hugill once Hojlund injured… even kept him as cover
Not trying to be argumentative here but weren't we trying that against Fulham with Omari Forson?

You’re not :), opinions are all good.

I don’t see Forson as a 9, especially given physicality of the PL. Hugill has grown in the last two years and I think could handle it better… I also think he has a very good work rate and does the hard running (chasing lost causes), hence the “effort” comment.

I won't be surprised if he's the only pro footballer in the whole planet that avoid any physical contact/challenge.

He's one of those players who when we look back from the future will come to signify a terrible period for the club. A legend in his own mind. Our version of a spice boy.

Sorry it's beyond repair this time, he is useless and shouldn't be anywhere near the first team.

Watching that performance, you would never have guessed Rashford was one of United's elite players, earning a crazy salary; largely anonymous, not much quality when he did get possession in the final third. On first viewing I thought he might have been fouled for a penalty but on the replay it was clear the defenders had got goal-side of him and were allowed to compete for the ball.

I hoped Rashford would become a brilliant player. There were spells when he seemed to be heading in that direction but his overall performance level in 2 out of the last 3 seasons has been a disgrace. He is just so reluctant to do the basics to help the team. If he isn't scoring tons of goals as he did last season, it is hard to justify his selection.

also the world is not flat

I'm assuming a new forward / winger will be signed in the summer. If they're any good it's Rashford's that will find himself benched. Also assuming the club don't have the balls to sell him.

Actually, I forgot about Mount until after I posted this. I think Mount deserves a run in the front three in place of Rashford when he does eventually return from injury.

we've done this for far too long. sunk cost fallacy with martial, believing every year that this is the one he'll come good. I liked hearing the new guy saying that you've 2 seasons to perform. or you're out

That really should be the standard. I think clubs (especially us) are too afraid of letting players leave for free. Transfer fees are overrated when people think about a players cost compared to wages. If one of our players is so poor, we can't sell them to anyone than we should just let them leave for free. Contracts should only be renewed for a reason, rather than as a default.

It was funny listening to Shearer realising what a half arsed player Rashford is in real time. From “must be so frustrating for him not having his runs picked out” to “ffs lad, at least make a bit of an effort” in the space of 30 minutes.

Rashford definitely benefits from being English (and a goalscorer). The media and pundits who barely watch us (apart from highlights) probably think he's playing great and not getting the service. When they actually watch him, they realise that he's not much different to Martial, Antony or Sancho.

I wasn't disappointed with him today because he's not a number 9 so I have basically zero expectations of him in this role.

Jose called it out years ago, he can't play the role.

Goes out of his way to avoid contact to the point where he nearly looks like he deliberately mistimes jumping for aerial duels, but on the few occasions in a game he brushes against someone he nearly always goes down hurt. An absolutely massive fanny as has been said

I think we should play Mctominay up front against City. The last thing Rashford needs is to be played out of position now when he’s already low on confidence.
Keep him on the left. Mctominay has a bit more strength to hold off and turn defenders with his back to goal, and he obviously can finish.

People are justified criticising service all season - but once again he looked less like scoring than every advanced player on the pitch. Even Diallo looked more likely.

He's a terrible player but what's worse he has a terrible attitude. For this reason alone, id sooner keep Antony

I've honestly never seen a softer footballer in my life. Not only does he avoid physical contact, the rare times he's forced into a physical duel he'll go down "hurt" from the most minor contact, usually while the game goes on and leaves us down to 10 men. Inevitably there's never actually anything wrong with him as he's running around absolutely fine a few minutes later.

Bruno loves pretending to be injured while the opposition go on the attack against us also.

True and I thought he was coming into somewhat decent form on the wing before the Hollund injury. Playing him at number 9 is a waste of time

Agreed and at least with Martial he had top level talent to back. Rashford doesnt and really never has had that amount of talent so I don’t understand why we persist.
