And Doing Well in training so he gets picked means he was one of the better players at training because he ultimately got picked to start by Rangnick :lol: if he wasn't one of the better ones he would be on the bench or not in the squad by Rangnick

Fletcher has always been part of the coaching set up, even prior to his technical director approval.

I actually like the set up because if Ralf and Fletcher are going to be working together next season in a different capacity, him trying to understand what Ralf wants is crucial.

Fletcher and Ralf working together finding out about players is crucial, they'll be able to identify weaknesses in the squad and address it. They will be able to work out who isn't fit to be at the club too.

We all wanted footballing decisions to be left to footballing people.

yes we want that. But not the Technical Director working as a coach. Fletcher has no experience at all in anything apart from being a player. Ralf has enormous experience. Being an U16 coach is something else.

Well, he isn't a full time coach, its until the end of the season. I don't see the issue with that? Its not like we have hired a full time manager and he is the coach.

When Ole was sacked the club said Carrick and Fletcher were to lead the team, maybe Ralf wants someone there alongside him who knows the players?

Ralf has experience, Fletcher doesn't, so what's so bad in that? I am sure most people who are inexperienced would say, they like working with experienced personnel to learn.

I mean every player starts off with no management experience so, that means they are all bad at their job?

We are used to seing, Ronaldo comes to training 1 hour before everyone and stays for 1 hour after practicing free kicks to Rashford spends 12 hours training :lol::lol:

I would be ashamed as a journalist to even post that.

So the reasons for drop in quality have been:

Back injury
Mental fragility after Euros pen miss
Off-field work
Split from girlfriend

And now we could add "working harder at the training ground" as a potential excuse for poor form. Not saying you are implying it, but I'm sure it can be a reason for the diehard Rashford fans to defend his performances.

He's been absolutely shite and I personally don't think there is a viable excuse for the extreme drop off in performances other than Rashford is pretty soft, or let's call it sensitive instead.

I think the majority of our issues stem from the backup that feel they deserve to get games but play shit when they do. If they're as outwardly vocal about not playing within the dressing room then it can't be nice to have your fellow professionals calling for you to be dropped all the time and scruntinising everything you do in order to get you dropped.
 
Those who suggest we bring on pochetino to get the best out of marcus are misguided. While great at his best , he is no messi or Ronaldo, he simply isn't the mercurial talent worth building a side around to justify catering so extensively and even bring a manager specifically for him .

But anyway I hope he gets back to his best I know that he's capable of it.
 
The Athletic, BBC and the Telegraph with what appears to be an orchestrated media campaign today. We've given Lingard dogs abuse for the JLingz brand thing over the years but Rashford is appearing more and more like a footballer by media management.

It's like a pop group manufactured in a board room somewhere - they've taken a talented young footballer, built a brand around him and they're not going to allow something like not playing very good football get in the way of all that work.

The thing is, he's a quality footballer and a decent young man. Get rid of the team of fluff writers, put a pin in the hype around himself, take a 6 month sabbatical from social media and roll up your sleeves son. Focus on where his football weaknesses are instead of paying people to tell us how they don't exist in the papers, and his talent will take care of the rest.
 
It's absolutely nuts the sheer amount of journalists that Rashford's team have got to print pure PR fluff pieces today. Simon Stone the latest to get in on the act.

Chris Wheeler's (Daily Mail) worship-piece even included a headline about Rashford being such a conscientious, soft-hearted young man that he didn't get out of bed for a week after the penalty miss. It was hastily edited the next morning to 'couldn't get out of bed for a few days', and the headline amened to remove all mention of it, after their commenters pointed out that Rashford was pictured singing and dancing in a private jet 3 days after the Final, on his way to Turks & Caicos.

Just a nutty level of media management that reflects as badly on the 'journalists' as it does on Rashford and his team.

Remember this the next time there are dressing room leaks. Journalists don't do this for free. They get something in return.
 
I don’t think I’ve seen a player have a PR team working overtime like he does and I’m including Rooney in that. It’s like a PR operation for the head of government for a major country.

Do the talking on the pitch. Constant apologies and essays about how you are Utd incarnate grind down on people after a while and now you’re entering the realm of being annoying.
 
All of this over suggesting a player in bad form shouldn't be starting every week? Like I'm sure they realise the majority aren't attacking his person but rather his play. Where does all this sympathy go when the conversation is about rotating Ronaldo?

Is it time to bring back The Rashford Cultist thread?

On his defensive stats being as good as Sancho and Greenwood do we have stats for how many times he is within 5 yards of someone and let’s them run past him. For all the grief Sancho and Greenwood get they do run back/sprint to get in position. They might not make a defensive action but they get in position to do so if required.

Rashford doesn’t tend to do this. Heck he’ll even just let people run by him. But like I said earlier, for a brief spell he seemed to be making an effort in the first half to get back even covering Shaw. Then it just fell apart.

The Norwegian tended not to do much coaching, so Rashford never got to learn properly the predatory instincts of his fellow forward.
So Rashford took a deep breath, overcame his natural shyness and went to Solskjaer to tell him he was unsure what was being asked of him. He said he felt his performances had plateaued because he was being asked to play in so many different roles. Rashford was told to stop moaning.

This really pissed me off. Ole clearly had the lads back, and Rashford had many positive things to say about him in the early days.

Not a chance in hell the interaction consisted of Ole telling Rashford to stop moaning.

I like Rashford, but this PR machine really needs to feck off.

Does anyone remember Ole mentioned recently that Rashford should focus on football back in Oct?

It was reported that didn’t go well with Rashfords camp and Ole had to deny what he said and retracted his comment completely with Rashford sat right next to him at a match conference.

This just shows that the board has given too much power to players
