What? He was decent, there was a lot worse than him. How can you expect the attacking player to perform when he hardly got a sniff of the ball.
The usual posters will shit on him at every opportunity. No suprise.

50% pass accuracy
0/3 dribbles completed
Lost possession 15 times

All while cheating his teammates defensively. How can a 24 year old, with a connection to the club that his team talk about constantly, get outworked by just about every player, every week.

35 year old 'mercenary' Cavani puts him to shame.

It's a joke! There are players that are deserving of the ciritism at the moment, but Rashford is one of the few that does not at the moment. Really winds me up

Walking football, has hoped that him coming back would lift the workrate from the front compared to Greenwood/Sancho/Martial and Ronaldo but he has made it worse.

Not good enough from one of our own.

According to @PlayerOne that’s a decent game mate.

Some people need to get their rose tinted glasses off.

Wonder what a bad game looks like statistically then.

He's been lazy for years, I've been commenting on this since Mourinho's 2nd season.

Marcus, i hope you’re reading this. Please have a hair cut and start putting your all on the pitch. You look lazy

Not defending him but those are dodgy stats (unless a nutmeg doesn't count as a dribble?)

He's done well offensively in his cameos against tired legs this season. His conversion rate has been much improved. His general play hasn't and his work-rate is completely unacceptable at this point.

From Sofa Score - if you click on our match you can see player statistics...but yeah, I remember the nutmeg on like the 20th minute as you said.

Edit - they've just updated the dribble stats and posted on their TG that they were bugged.

Still, touched the ball 30 times, lost possession 15 is....bad.

I don't think he was awful but his biggest issue always seems to be doing something good and then trying to follow up by repeating the feat. There was a moment in the first half where he nutmugged their defending brilliantly and then instead of trying to look for a cross tried to play it past another player in an attempt to cut across and shoot, who inevitably tackled him.

The first was a great bit of play but the likelihood of it coming off twice is very low. Such things are why he can be very frustrating to watch.

Almost every player will stats like that today, we were awful as a team.

Also, Rashford had a serious injury, missed the pre-season and has been thrown into a team that's awful with a manager that's on a verge of getting sacked.

Things are not that simple. Rashford will come again in time, under a better manager ideally.

Or maybe look at the facts for the game. He didn't do shit defensively and gave the ball away 15 times....

I'm a huge fan or Rashford, but today he was terrible

What he done off the field is just fabulous and I bow down my head for that but the way he is playing for UTD for last year or so is just atrocius

He needs to step up, Not just Rashford but the problem is we have so many other players at club who thinks they are bigger than the club and they are not to be left on the bench.

We need a manager with iron fist to sort out these egos and cleanup the club

Rashford and whoever plays on the wing hardly track back under Ole, that is a feature of our play. I don't know what you have been watching the last 3 years.

Do you think Rashford would not track back if he was asked to?

Marcus wasn't the problem today. As Mason or Ronaldo wasn't the problem weeks ago when he was injured. It's our coaching staff. It's just not the right moment to have a go at him imo. He was our most dangerous player in the first half where we as a Team were abmysal.

I agree that he has to up his defensive work though. His lazy jogging to the player who crossed before the 2:0 was scandalous. But then again he is not the only one doing it. Don't let me start talking about AWB. Martial was even more of a ghoost in the second half. I feel a coach like Tuchel would be able to bring more out of him from an offensive and defensive perspective.

I just want to see him under a proactive manager. He only had one so far in his professional career and it was Van Gaal, where he looked the real deal.

I hope we are getting someone like POchettino or anyone who will make this bunch of lazy primadonas run again, it's the least you can do, run chase the ball, win the ball, if you're playing crap going forward, this will not only stop their team to create but also put ourselves in good dangerous positions if the ball is won further up, instead, we have one and a half player in the team who is able and willing to tirelessly press in 2021 imagine, any team coming at us and not being afraid to do so, making it even games since many seasons ago already and we are still unable to figure it out.

Yes.

He did under Mourinho - who called him out repeatedly, and eventually dropped him. Fans turned on Jose.

Southgate also criticised him (along with Sancho and Grealish) and ended up benching him to bring in players who worked harder off-ball.

I still think he's a talented player who can be very good for us, but not with this level of intensity.

is it me or marcus doesnt have that fire, that desire anymore ?

probably oles fault or something else off the pitch

this is a serious moment in his career

He saved Jose's job a few times and anything Jose moaned about means nothing, he threw everyone under the bus. Southgate is an idiot, who will be back to using Rashford every minute he can once he gets back to full fitness.

It's simple, if Rashford is defying orders to track back under Ole, then half of the squad is. You need to back and watch the MNF Neville did a year ago where he showed Rashford and Martial staying high up even other teams were attacking to catch them on the break, Ole was praised for that and has stuck to it since.

If Ole wants Rashford to track back and Rashford deson't, Ole can drop him until he starts working for the team. But he won't, because Rashford is following instructions.

I still thought he was our brightest spark first half. The decision to tale him off for Martial hindered our chance of any come back. It was a rare occasion when all our best play came down the right for once with Sancho coming alive.

0 effort to help his teammates, constantly losing the ball.

What a great United lad.

I still think he’s largely shite. His overall play and hold up is shocking. People call Greenwood greedy but at least Greenwood is capable of keeping the ball in the middle third and playing some good passes. It’s night and day with the way Greenwood looks after the ball compared to Rashford.

Do you really think Ole asks the wingers not to win the ball back or get behind the ball after losing it?

Jesus

Was sad to see Marcus on Saturday. Reminded me off the 'couldn't be arsed' attitude he displayed a lot in the second half of last season. Hopefully it's because he struggled to find motivation under Ole instead of it being his MO forward.

His hunger has gone. Cant be arsed anymore to run his socks off. Compare him now to 2 years ago, and his change in attitude on the pitch is shocking. Maybe he should do full time politics if that is what he cares more about, because i dont see a football player leaving 200% on the pitch, as he used to do before his injury break. He was inconsistent before, but was running his socks off most of the time.

Nah, his attitude has been the same for even longer than that.

The bubble thread was created in 2019 and it still rings true to this day.

Hopefully Madrid and Barca can throw in a £100 million bid and get rid .

We have the rotational options — Martial, Amad, Sancho, Elanga, Greenwood, and Lingard are all wide options.

If Rashford is playing without the defensive diligence and general quality needed (which he currently isn’t), we simply rotate him out and play someone else.

Not utilising his large squad was one of Solskjaer’s biggest pitfalls.

Would never sell Rashford.

Asking inverted forwards to do the defensive work when a poacher is doing shit all is exceptionally funny.

Thats like Salah and Mane at Rb and LB whilst having Firmino by himself in the box

Crazy stuff. Now we need traditional wingers haha.

Huge fan, but I forgot he even played. It looked like he had downed tools.

Poor player

I can watch Rashy dribble past 3 player for fun (different game this season) only to come into this thread to read he's shit

Not trolling just think he’s very overrated. I like him as a squad option but I honestly think Greenwood even currently is levels above him. Still think Martial at his very best is better too. Rashford just lacks the technical ability for me to consider him truly top draw but credit to him he does a great job of getting chances and producing numbers.

Mate that's fair, but calling him shite suggests he's James quality.

That was definitely more than abit reactionary. To be honest though I think in many elements of his game he is largely shite (meaning poor really), and that includes important facets such as heading, hold up play, passing, vision etc. I think he’s got exceptional movement, pace and decent finishing which still makes him a good player in comparison to someone like James but leaves him way below other players.
