Wrong thread, but how do you think Martial would do out of interest? Personally I think he would thrive

Don't think Martial presses effectively enough to play as the centerpiece for a Guardiola team. Good technical player but sadly, not good enough off the ball. Martial's best moments have all come with the ball at his feet.

I think Rashford can be effective in the City setup as a squad player. He is still young and the kinks in his game can be ironed out by an expert.

I agree, but can’t help but wonder whether a more inspirational coach could unlock him from his timid play style

I was really annoyed when he didn't gamble on McTominay's shot being spilled against Bournemouth. Ward-Prowse certainly showed him the benefit of being on your toes in that position later in the day.

Kid is a gem, going to be a star for United in the future. Expectations are highly influenced from outside talent, when we should appriciate the most exiting talent to come through the ranks of our academy since the class of 92. His improvements are staggering considering the player he was 3 years ago. Love him.

Man Utd 3:0 Partizan
How can someone watch him regulary and think he is not talented enough? He is easily our most exciting player to watch, one that doesn't hide one bit in games even when he is the worst player on the pitch and tries to be attacking force alone, so I can't really understand how can people not like him.

That first half is probably one of the best individual performance we've seen from United player in past 10 years if it wasn't for bad finishing.

Glad he got his deserved goal. Great performance even with these misses.

Some weird bias. Not sure where it’s coming from.

His movement to buildup our attacks was so good; lovely final ball too. The goal was simply the icing on top of a very good performance.

His finishing was poor but his overall game was very good. He took on defenders, created chances, dropped deep to pick up passes and also linked up so well in the final third. Glad he scored the goal and with his weaker foot too.

Great game today from Rashford. He kept taking on people one of which ended up in our first goal.

Feel he and Martial are getting better playing together. Feels more natural and better understanding between them, in our last two wins at least.

Very happy with the goal. The fact he took it with his left first time shows his confidence right now. Rashford a month ago takes a touch to take it on his right before shooting.

He's shown good form before only to drop down again. Hopefully this is the start of a consistent run for him.

He's probably not going to be that consistent since he's young, his game hasn't fully come together yet.

But if he keeps producing good moments in matches, he should be alright.

Great performance today, Partizan couldn't handle him at all. Need to see more of this in games that count.

Bit of a mix bag performance today.

Everything was really good apart from his finishing. Should have had a Hattrick! He needs to start being more composed as he’s better than his goal record.

Definitely looks more at home on the left wing.

Great goal. Really high level in his general play too, loved it. Best all-round performance in a year or something for sure.

He's at the centre of every thing we do. For all the chances he misses, if it weren't for him we wouldnt have any chances in the first place.

And for all the stick he's getting his stats show he's a 1 in 2 striker this season so far. He definitely has the potential to improve and I'm sure he will. His development has been immense so far and he's just turned 22.

If he had been this good or even close to this good for much of last season and before he wouldn't have gotten any stick. Hrs playing great at the moment but about 80% of last season he was playing abjectly terrible. And it's not to do with being young and inconsistent. I've never seen a player with such a gap between their highest and lowest levels. On song he looks bona fide world class, but on one of his many many off days from precious seasons he can look like pub quality. You look at other talents young players like Hudson Odoi for example, there is not that much range between his good and bad games.

Imo that's why a logical shout was attitude, which was corroborated by the evidence of absolutely outlandish decision making on the pitch. I personally don't think it's coincedence he true nd a corner after finally getting some criticism in the media after having pure smoke blown up his ass before thwt. It's what he needed, now he's come back stronger and hopefully this time the form is going to in general stay.

Like, he's playing great now but let's not rewire history just so some of yous can get your pompous tuppenneth in.

My point was about the stick he is getting this season.

Not to take the piss but have you not seen much youth develop? Many on here didn't want Gareth Bale from Spurs because they thought he was way too inconsistent at a young age. The less we say on Raheem Sterling the better, (Just read this thread on him a matter of 2 years ago and it was probably justified with the sitters he was missing)

I see many parallels with Rashford that I did with Bale and Sterling. This is pretty common with most of the youth that develop into top players and it's the hardest part. I'm not worried about Rashford because he has that level of intensity in a game required, he's fearless and has the work ethic to make it click. I still don't understand this bias around not to back him. For me it's inevitable that he's going to make it into a top player, having a world class team would have aided his development i.e. being at City but nonetheless, he'll get there.

Have some shame. We were playing a team that would get relegated in our league. He was very active today which is promising. I’d say this is up there as one if his best performances this season but you can’t read to much into it because of the opposition quality. If he performs consistently this weekend we can make more extreme statements.

Is he still 1 in 2 without penalties? We have to start focusing on more open play goals because penalties is not a very reliable source. He needs to show more consistency against athletes and not the part time plumbers we played today.

What kind of logic is this? Ruud van Nistelrooy wouldn't be 1 in 2 striker in 2003/04 (his prime) had he not scored his 12 penalties. How can you discount the fact that he's scoring penalties.

If he's got the balls to step up to penalties and he's scoring them then that's a good thing in my book. Regardless, he's a wide forward that's contributing to our chance creation as well as scoring.

Definitely find Martial more exciting so not sure about this 'easily' bit.

But I really like Rashford. He's an excellent young footballer.

His 1st half performance was one of the best I've seen from him.

Might be knee-jerk, but you could perhaps get away with using him as the #10 in some games behind Martial with James on the left and Greenwood on the right.

I'd rather see Rashford in that position than Lingard or Peirera.

That's nonsense logic.

Superb performance from him. Granted he missed some sitters, but half the job is actually sniffing out those chances and getting to them, something he has been lacking in the past.

I just love how direct and composed he is when he is on form. No dilly dallying, just go straight for the kill. If him, Martial and James can develop their partnership, they can become a frightening force on counters

Really liked that finish for the goal. Classy left foot effort - not easy and it has ended up top corner.

Right on and this season has shown the importance of a good penalty taker, if we had taken our penalties well we'd be 6th or thereabouts.

The amount of chances he missed was insane. He is currently our best and most influential player though. He's usually the one making most of the dribbles and chances, and taking most of the shots. Amidst the shitshow, he's been okay on the left wing this season.

He's still so raw and unpolished. He could be a superstar with the right tactical coaching.

He has off days when he can't finish to save his life, and his decision making while dribbling is questionable, but he's got loads of potential lying untapped.

His mentality and attitude impress me the most. At 22, he's a local lad carrying the main attacking burden of the biggest club in England with poor service behind him. He doesn't hide, he doesn't stop believing in himself, he doesn't let excuses how him back, plays through injury, is a big game player who has a stellar record against the top 6 and gives it all on the pitch every single time.

Faster to 50 club goals than CR7 and, despite our poor results, is the leading scorer+assister this season.

Definitely my favourite player at the club right now.

Dropped in the hole making himself wide open for penetrative forward balls in an almost #10 role.
He turned and ran at defence.

He'll never be able to do that in the premier league due to his poor dribbling skills, so I'm glad he used that opportunity fully against a shite opponent.
In the premier league he does it in much less effective wing channels.

Should have had at least 3 goals today.

Didn't look like it deflected when watching replays. Shame he didn't get the assist.

Yeah they showed the replay on RTE and they reckoned as it wasn't a deflection and was nowhere near Mata that he must've meant to pass it to Greenwood.

Could have been a mis-hit mind, but it deffo wasn't a deflection.

Do they review these later like goals?

Don't think they will review assists and all.

Not really. My point here is that I want him to focus on trying to improve being prolific from scoring open play goals and not set pieces. I'm also not discounting the fact he scores penalties. I Just want him to be more comfortable as a natural goalscorer. Anybody can score penalties(regardless how many we've missed). Which is why id rather judge him on how effective he is in open play. The amount of goals we will probably have from penalties will be less than 5% so relying on them isn't as important. So just to be clear Im not discounting his penalties I'm just not placing much importance in them given his position as a forward in the team. He needs to improve on his regular goalscoring technique.
