Maybe in minority here but I dont have any problem with players taking many shots, even from long range.

Ole relying on Rashford could be his downfall. Not saying he’s a bad player but he’s not the amazing prospect that the fans want him to be either imo.

Agree 100%, he's not as good as people here seem to think. In fact, I think he was better when he first broke into the team. His best asset seems to be speed, being fast is great but not if your decision making and finishing is average.

Him and Martial cannot link with each other based on what I watched.

Nail on head.

He needs to be as close to goal as possible; outside the box he suffers from chronic delusion. He should be modelling his game on Andy Cole, not Ronaldo.

Was about to say the same thing. He shouldn’t be modeling his game as Ronaldo, I think he should look at to someone like Eto’o. They both have same assets.

Brain dead footballer, but it's nothing new. Rashford is too young and not talented enough to lead our line, it doesn't mean he will become a bad player he's a good prospect. But I think fans are rating him like he's going to be a world beater, just can't see it personally.

I think Rashford can easily become a 20-goal per season striker if he can get his head right. He has pace, skill, strength and a powerful shot. Some small adjustments and more experience will be good for him. We should realise that till the 2nd half of last season, he never played as a striker regularly. He needs more time to learn the role and his own strengths and weaknesses.

You'll love Bruno then if we sign him. I don't mind Rashford taking long shots either. He just needs to trouble the keeper more with them.

Yeah, I think few are just in a hope that GK will spill one like Buffon did and that Newcastle keeper did.

As long as he is not ignoring other players who are in better position to score, it shouldn't be a problem.

Watching him play makes my blood boil. Such an infuriating player. Needs to learn to play with his head.

Well he completely ignored his teammate in his goal against Leeds last week

Quite fortunate that he scored and he simply can't be making those selfish decisions in competitive games

Yes he is still young but he has had plently of game time under his belt

He was in good position to score. I said ignore his teammates and shoot from ridiculous distance when teammate is in better position to score.

There is no guarantee that it will go in from his position but whereas his team mate there would simply be a tap in needed

If that's the way then is no guarantee that he would have completed that pass. Defender might have intercepted it or with more time he would have blocked it.

There is no guarantee for anything on the field

No totally perhaps guarantee wasn't the right word used

He had plenty of time to make a simple pass from his position with no defenders close by

He is a striker, he backs himself to score from that position. Also it's a friendly game and he scored but still people are moaning about it.

Anyone would have thought people would be praising him for that bit of skill and finish.

So do you think it's the right decision to shoot in a competitive game?

If anything, i think Ole is encouraging him to shot more instinctively, to be more selfish. But he will of course have to learn when to look up as well.

Hope and think Ole can improve him.

I suppose it's easy to easy to say that simply because he scored

Anyway we clearly have 2 different views in this matter

Maybe it's easy as saying "he should have passed the ball" by freezing the video when everything happened in blink of a second.

Yes he has to improve his decision making but he should still be taking shots. Shooting just has a low percentage pay off compared to dribbling for example. If we sign Maguire though Rashford winning corners could be crucial :D.
His "middle shooting" and free kicks are not a strength or asset so should be curtailed

My worry with Rashford is that there just isn’t enough instinct there. He’s a good player, but is he a 20/30 a season goalscorer? I’m not convinced. And given Ole’s faith in him for the season ahead, he sort of needs to be that guy.

Greenwood, in the space of a few games, has already shown a cannier ability to get into goalscoring positions. You can’t really teach that either.

I am going to leave my final thoughts. When I think of all the promising young players and wonderkids who were outstanding at youth level; Bojan(on the bench in championship), Carlos Vela (MLS at 29) Giovanni Dos Santos (mexican league) and then I saw the other day that Donald Love is at Shrewsbury, so you have to tip your hat off to Marcus for taking his chance and making the step up to first team and International football. He is probably better than anticipated from academy days but maybe not quite as good as he is being billed. I respect his hussle and he has done well and always maintain he can be our Pedro

Very selective picking of wonderkids there. There are also quite a lot that were branded wonderkids who went on to have pretty decent careers. you know Wayne Rooney, CR7, Messi..

Like him but don't think he's a good as Ole or he thinks he is. The lad is playing like he's Neymar where there's one set of rules for him, and a set for the others which is coming across a little arrogant in football terms.

This game by game micro analysis & black or white decisions on whether he's a good player or not is tedious as feck

Exactly. Game by game, minute by minute analysis is just annoying.

Agreed. He didn't have a good game but it wasn't awful, it neither makes him a good nor bad player. And a much better or much worse game wouldn't make him a good or bad player either.

Realistically whether you think Greenwood is going to be the shit or not, there's no way it's fair to rely on a 17 year old in every game so Rashford or Martial will be no.1 striker (unless Ben Yedder comes of course). And luckily they're both good players and capable of getting us into the top 4 with the right supporting cast which is all that matters. When they're 25 there might be decisions to make but at 21 I think we need to stop fussing over every detail, it's unhealthy and unhelpful.

His team mate (Greenwood I believe it was), was in a great position...but seriously what's this rubbish about him being selfish for the goal.. forwards are supposed to be selfish! The very best forwards in the history of the game are selfish, that's why their numbers are generally as good as they are. They have huge belief in their abilities and any...ANY forward in the position Rashford was in above, takes the shot.

I mean, I don't see you slating Greenwood for his goal vs Inter, he was far less likely to score...but he did. Greenwood had 6 outfield players and a keeper in close proximity. He also had Jones, McTominay and Mata in better scoring positions... how selfish of him.

The Leeds goal, he is absolutely right that he tries to score. But many other chances he shoots when he should not have done so. I hop Ole takes it to inform him when to shoot and when to pass. He is way too selfish and I think it's because he thinks he is better than everyone else. He is not.

I like him, but I thought he was woeful yesterday. One of the reasons I'm desperate to get Bruno Fernandes in is that it might get Rashford off freekicks as he isn't very good at them.

He's not the finished product by a long distance, he's still a kid with a lot to learn, but I think he will get there.

I actually didn’t think he was that bad yesterday. Not as good as previous matches and I get that the persistent long range shots were poor, but he wasn’t the only player trying it, there was some good link up play and runs, on top of that if not for a good save by keeper he would have knocked in a goal.

Whilst he’s achieved nothing in comparison and a whole lot can still go wrong. Greenwood I suspect will be a far better striker. He has that instinct in the box that Ole has talked about a few times now. Something Rashford absolutely needs work on.

He should be worried. In all seriousness greenwood at this point (not just based on pre season) could quite easily make Rashford feel a little how Lukaku does at the minute

Yes Pughichi, I agree with you. The way he creates space for himself in both the matches is very encouraging. I think everything has gone to Rashford's head.
