Tried to take responsibility due to the youngsters around him. A frustrating night
He's still young and missing a mentor figure, which he's never really had for a reasonable amount of time It would've done him the world of good having someone like Ibra around for another season. He lacks that leadership and big game mentality.
Agreed. But what is he then?
Maybe. Have never seen him flourish in any position since his debut.LF.
It was very clear for a long time that he is not good enough as the 9.
It happens trust me, just when a player is that focused on themselves and their own personal glory, it clouds their better judgement. Rashford is a great player, he just needs to stop trying so hard to do it himself, start playing simple football again.
Spot on. I may sound like a broken record given the number of times I've said the following in this forum, but I'm truly convinced that Rashford has a footballing IQ of about 60.
Sell him. Trade him and cash for Son, the sooner the better.
It's not that high
He's not the main striker though, Martial is that. Rashford is seemingly the main left winger who can play striker, while it looks to me that Martial is the main striker who can play left wing. Nothing wrong with that, and he needed to get the chance eventually. And he's just going through a run of form where his finishing isn't coming off. Today he couldn't really do much different, they were all instinctive reactions that he connected well with but were right at the keeper. Sometimes you'll scuff them instead but they'll go in. Just how it goes.He is being hung out to dry and I could see it coming a mile off. When Jose said he was not good enough as the striker everyone cried. Now everyone is calling Rashford shit. This is what people wanted.
The board and Ole have been irresponsible.

In most matches he won't play as the main striker, he didn't even play the full 90 minutes upfront last night. It's not just how it goes. He is not good enough as a number 9, that's it.
Well we do seem to specialise in subsidizing wages.Spurs wouldn't be stupid enough to pay his 200k/wk wage. That's what they give for their world class striker.
And their fans wouldn't be happy either. Not like most of us here when he got that mega wage.
Ok but he's being asked to be the 2nd #9, while the main one is injured right now? As the backup striker/starting left winger/left forward, I really don't have any problems with him and I think he'll have a very good season in the role he'll have. It's not just how it goes. He is not good enough as a number 9, that's it.
Feel that same and i have to remind myself that at the same age Ronaldo was even less prolific and then at 22-23 he just turned it on with his finishing and never stopped. Then there is the other option, Welbeck style. We need to keep being patient with Rashford as he has the talent and time to sort it out.His recent performances remind me of Danny Welbeck. Lots of talent, but every shot at the goalkeeper, hitting the woodwork, side of the net, just wide, just over the top. Anywhere but the back of the net. Hopefully he matures beyond this phase.
Not defending either of them, but I think people should calm down a bit about Martial being much better centre forward than him because he proved absolutely nothing as a centre forward yet, it's been 3 games into this season ffs, and many here have decided that somehow Martial is far better striker than him. Their record for Manchester United is almost identical, Rashford has scored 48 goals in 10895 minutes, and Martial has scored 50 goals in 11579 minutes, with both being shifted central and wide from time to time, and both having mixed performances everywhere and having bad periods through pretty much every season.
In general, Rashford takes more shots per games and has better movement which makes people think he is worse finisher because he generally misses more chances, but pretty much every striker and manager will say that player who gets into good goalscoring chances has a better chance to become better goalscorer in his career. Whether Rashford will improve his finishing or not is another thing, but for now they are basically identical when it comes to scoring for Manchester United, and I really don't see why people see Martial as some safe option as a centre forward when he has other flaws himself.
That's slightly over the top. There aren't many 21 year olds putting out world class peformances every week. Problem with Rashford is that being a youth product, the club appears to have put him on a padestal (with a salary to match) that only befits super talents like Rooney of Fabregas. And he's not shown that. I do rate him but ideally he should be a rotational/backup player and paid accordingly subject to further improvement. He definitely needs to work on refining his game and improving the decision making in the final third. Yet he's now a crucial starter and seemingly the face of the club. I wonder if we could have negotiated a better deal with both him and Martial. I mean, would other clubs have offered them similar terms?Big ego
Big money
Big moments
The only point of divergence is Big or Small expectations.
Lots of us are MUFC fans and are looking for a WC performance from our starting striker.
Many others are Rashford fans and have the smallest of expectations.
MUFC will win out here, not Rashford's online posse. He must perform or be axed.
And what? This is his 4th season in the first team. Has he improved? Poor intelligence for a footballer. Not a natural finisher. Please somebody take this guy off freekicks he is fecking terribleTime for that gentle reminder - he is only 22.

I know a lot of people are exasperated with his free kicks, but he is getting closer and closer. He doesn't have much to improve and he'll be a huge danger. That style of FK is very difficult to get right, but once it's there, it's the most difficult for the keeper to stop. I'm happy to go through some more frustration if the potential reword is a Ronaldo MK 2 in our team when it comes to FK.
Wrong. At 21-22 (the same age) Ronaldo scored and assisted 43 goals and became the best in the country. At 22-23 Ronaldo was the best in the world by thenFeel that same and i have to remind myself that at the same age Ronaldo was even less prolific and then at 22-23 he just turned it on with his finishing and never stopped.
