Marcos Rojo possible exit

Will be a ridiculous deal if we get anywhere near £30million for him. He only cost us £16million and he's missed far too many games through injury. You can't exactly say he has improved much since joining us...

I'm loving United's business in terms of selling, in that while we want to get rid of certain players, we're not desperate to. It seems like we will sell all of Blind, Rojo and Darmian for a profit this Summer window which is quite outrageous IMO. I don't think any of them are really that good.

I agree, he is very underrated on here. Injuries haven't done him any favours, he is too good for Everton.
I think it will be a very good buy for Everton if they get him as well.
Same here. I like him, and personally would rather keep him than Smalling or Jones - but imagine them being English helps. But if we can get 25-30m that's a good bit of business... Well, until we spend 70m on Maguire (I like Maguire, transfer prices has just gone mental)
Yeah I have a bad feeling all these sales will justify us spending 50m on Alderweireld or 65m on Maguire

30m is fair IMO. Prices have more than doubled since we signed him, and he's clearly a better player than when he joined.

Yes he's had a few injuries but when fit and playing regularly he's a good player. Everton is probably his level.

Injuries, especially that one last summer ruined his career. He had some great performances before the injury, but looks like he cant get to that level. He can be a good CB if he keeps injury free and playing.

£50m on Alderweireld makes sense in a market where Rojo costs £30m. Rojo is only 1 year younger, is considerably more injury prone and isn't close to being as good.

Even in today's market, £30m for Rojo is insane! Especially if you consider the fact he is arguably our 4th, possibly 5th choice CB if all our defenders are fit!

Over the years we have been so poor in getting a good fee for our players which have been sold, so £18m for Blind, potentially circa £30m for Rojo and we got £5m for Sam Johnstone too. That's around £53m we have recouped, so it's very good piece of business. Oh I forgot to add we could potentially get around £15m-£20m for Darmian too, if we manage to offload him that is.

Saying that, it means NOTHING if we don't invest that money into the squad! Our net spend this summer is circa £17m and for the club of our size, that is appalling! Look at Man City spending heavily last summer to address all their problem positions, they even broke their club record transfer on a player by signing Mahrez this summer for £60m. A player who may not even start every week, and look at Liverpool doing the same this year, yes a lot of the money comes from the Coutinho sale but at least their owners are reinvesting the money into the squad and giving Klopp what he wants!

What an upgrade that would be! especially for a net 20mil, loose change down the back of the sofa in today's market.

I agree, but when we can wait and get him for half the price? I guess we need him immediately though.

Yep. If we sell Rojo for 30 million, no excuse to not buy Alderweireld.

I really like Maguire as well, but we can wait till next summer to gauge his performances and see if Lindelof (who is our current best defender on the ball) improves to nail a permanent starting spot. If Lindelof flops and Bailly too does not improve his game, we can come back for Maguire.

Everton fans are bricking it after seeing Marco Silva's work in pre-season. They still as insipid in attack as they were under Sam but now they can't defend at all with the high line. Throw Rojo into the mix, what could go wrong!

Agreed, for £20m net it'd be a massive upgrade.

We'd have to wait till the end of next summer's window then and we need a CB now. It's a premium for sure, but it'd be an investment for this season.

£30 million for Rojo makes complete sense. He's better than half as good as Maguire or Toby. All of our CBs are.

If £65 and £70 million gets you those players, then none of our CBs are worth less than £30-40 million.

In terms of quality, I agree. The only problem is, when we sell our players, they tend to be to weaker teams with less money that can't afford the wages that the players are currently on. This lowers the transfer fee we get significantly. Same doesn't apply vice-versa.

Not as bad as people point, but inconsisten. In some games he looks a world beater, in other he looks like the a out of control pitbul that will try to tackle everything that moves.

Both Rojo and the club need to move forward and both will benefit from this.

We would be lucky. He’s staying. This current crop of deadwood will be getting testimonials at this point.

He is always injured, never played many games in a row. At 28 stll an enigma

He is aggressive, makes hard tackles and get injured or suspended (or both), or a penalty against.

Selling him at 30 million would be the greatest deal of all times

Everton, Jones is very good too. I've heard that he is the new Duncan Edwards and can become the greatest player in the history of a club. But we like you Everton, so you can have him for as little as 40m.

Hope he does well at Everton.

I don't think he didn't put the effort in at OT, he was just a little bit shit at times and not good enough to hold down a regular spot, so best of luck.

For £30m in this market he's a good price for Everton and a good price for us considering he's down the pecking order. He'll probably do very well at Everton.

Everton did spend £30 million on Michael Keane and as much as I don't rate Rojo he's easily a better player than Michael Keane. Still, if I was Ed Woodward I wouldn't believe that i'm nearly doubling my money on a player whose had a decent run of form here and there. Whose always looked like a limited passion merchant.

30m for Rojo?
Even Everton aren't paying that surely!?!

Not sure if anyone mentioned, but Everton have posted a picture of Rojo on their Instagram story, writing Tuesday papers, whatever that means.

They do a media gossip section.

They're both injury prone and when fit Jones is less of a liability. I'd certainly keep Phil for the 15 games a season he gives us in an injury crisis.

We have more than one season's worth information on both. Last season Jones was worse than usual and Rojo barely played. He was hooked more than once because he was a liability and a red card waiting to happen, most recently at the world cup.

Jones wasnt worse than usual at all. He was good (not ideal) for the vast majority of the season. He had a couple of slip ups, most notably at the end of the season where people went way overboard and wanted him sold.

I think by now we know that he's fairly solid in normal matches but if we go into big matches with Jones starting we don't know what we're going to get. He's played well in some, but come up short several times too. So we certainly have room for improvement there.

Rojo on the other hand was a disaster anytime he started. And Bailly wasnt much better either.

Jones and Bailly had an incredible start to the season. In fact, there was a thread on this forum suggesting that Jones was the best CB in the league and most argued that he was top 5-10. I'm not suggesting that he is of course, but I feel like a lot of fans on here just go from one extreme to the other.

Yes you're exactly right. 3 or 4 good games, best in the league. 1 mistake and worst in the league.
