No they don't. This thread is full of praise in recent weeks. Mourinho has acknowledged his good form, as have commentators on the television.

It's good for some posters to make things up so they can make out like there's 'agendas' against loads of our players. It's extremely prevalent lately. All praise is completely ignored just to try make a point that doesn't exist. It's childish.

So yeah I was right all along. He's gotten plenty of praise lately but a big talking point - the awful two footed lunge; the second one in recent times - becomes a hot topic, and you take umbredge. Yeah good for you.

Anyhow, decent enough game apart from the tackle. Hope you enjoyed the win. Big one for us.

How are you right when this thread's activity over the past few hours proves my point that people talk more when he fecks up?

You'll get the point in a few years, just keep on trying man. Don't worry.

Exactly. Praised lately = rightly so. Big taking point tonight leads to lots of activity in this thread = rightly so.

Your smart arse posts do you no favours by the way.

More posts from his stupid tackles against Everton and now than actually discussing how this man brought his United career back to life.

Not sure why you bring up Mou or pundits here. I'm clearly talking about the Caf only.

He'll be fine, just needs to cut out the occasional brainfarts which every defender can be guilty of (just ask John Stones).

He's becoming a solid and dependable player for us.

Because he's put in two horror tackles in the space of three games. What part of that do you not understand? Of course it's a bloody talking point.

Good game again. I don't think it is a red either. He didn't really lunge, more that he in some way sat down two footed. Was no real force or danger in it as I saw it. He will be under scrutiny now though, so better give it a rest.

So him actually playing well and possibly resuscitating his United career after stinking up the place his first two years isn't a talking point?

I don't know, I just think it's fair to give both credit and criticism when it's due.

Idiotic tackle aside, I was actually very impressed with him tonight. He was dominant aerially which is something we usually struggle with and his touch also seems to be much better than it was last season.

There's still that feeling of nervousness as if a braindead moment is just around the corner though, he really needs to cut that side out of his game.

You'll get it soon enough, we trust you :)

What the feck are you even on about? Praised lightly? No, sorry I didn't mean that.

'We trust you"? You're very much on your own here. Everyone else understands why a controversial incident leads to activity in a thread except for you.

Your patronising posting style with smilies and all, even though you're clearly on a tirade against something that isn't there, is fecking sad to say the least.

A select few posts from after the Spurs game and there's about 4/5 pages of them. But yeah, you're spot on.

I'm glad he is back in form. Ive never understood the hate he gets on here

Genuinely convincing tonight. Have to give it to Jones though for that pushing upfield around the 73 minute mark and that tackle on Rose at the end. But Rojo was fantastic too.

Impressive today. Hope he keeps this form although he is prone to a wreckless tackle.

Was a beast today and has been great ever since Mourinho moved him back to the centre-back position.

Absolute rock again today

Played two positions today, and exceeded in both of them. That's how good he was today and it is coming from the guy who used to hate seeing the sight of him.

Great game. One of the most improved players.

His best performance for us. Fair balls to him.

Amazed by how he's turned his OT career around, fair do's to him.

He was very good today, Kane barely got a sniff and I think that was down to how well Rojo played today.

I read a comment on there at halftime saying he should be subbed / was having a shocker. Honestly, I think some refuse to change their opinions on players once they form an initial opinion. I thought Rojo and Jones were awful, but both have been very good recently and they deserve credit.

My second choice for MOTM after Mkhitaryan. That was his best performance in a red shirt IMO

Finally everyone is starting to see what a good player he is.

Passionate, no nonsense defender. Thats what we've been crying out for.

You mean to tell me only quoting the posts that support your argument make you right? Imagine that

So you admit now how wrong you are. I don't have any argument whatsoever as I can acknowledge that there's both praise and criticism in here. I'm not the one making stuff up, that would be you. I can understand why the tackle has got people talking and also why he got 4/5 pages of praise after the match on Sunday.

Again, what I'm pointing out is the disproportionate amount of activity his feck ups (and there have been a lot mind you) get compared to actual good games.

Comprehension, man. Get on with it. Don't give up :)

Read my post again

Absolutely shocking tackle, no excuse for it. That's twice in recent weeks, someone needs to have a word because him getting sent off could be the margin between reaching top 4 or not this season - pure stupidity and no need for it...

Tackle aside (which I hope he stops doing now especially since it will be highlighted a lot more), he was brilliant again.

Hes a committed player, very old school in that nature, but needs to realise he doesnt need to leave his feet all the time or rush into every challenge and go through a man. Other than that, praise for his actual performance.

Lucky he hasn't cost us a game recently. Playing well means nothing if you keep making stupid tackles like that, eventually we'll be punished for it.

Wow, those dangerous two-footed tackles are becoming his speciality but the refs don't seem to care.

I think he was ok tonight - team as a whole wasn't really on it. Good 3 points for sure. You can't defend that tackle though, whether intentional or not, it's pretty much full body weight onto Zaha's ankles if he hadn't jumped out the way.

Was a definite red for me. No need to tackle like that, ever.

He's much, much better at CB than LB, has to be said. I and many others wrote him off as complete shit from his performances at LB forgetting that it's not his best position. Might actually to turn out to be a good squad player yet.

Has that bit of toughness about him, I like it. We've always had players who've played on the edge.

I don't know, I just think it's fair to give both credit and criticism when it's due.

Which is exactly what he's been getting. This exchange is fecking painful.

Jose's comments on Rojo: “Rojo is playing phenomenal, Jones is playing phenomenal. I didn’t discuss the Danny Rose tackle, I didn’t discuss the David Luiz tackle. I am not going to discuss the Marcos Rojo tackle. He is an aggressive, clean player, probably playing the best football of his career.”

Another good game against 2 tricky players but my god is he trying to get a 3 match ban?! Crazy that he's got away with it twice.

He has been doing better lately (albeit he's set the bar very low over the last 12 months) and deservedly been recognised for that but that's twice in three games he should have been sent off in the first half of games for terrible challenges. Those aren't minor errors, it's cowardly, inept defending that could have changed both games if the referees had dismissed him.

He's probably alright to have in the squad as a back up who can also cover left back if we're really desperate but we need to get a quality centre back in. My hope is that if we do that then Mourinho might stop this habit of sitting back trying to protect our defence when we go a goal up because, finally after 3 years, we look like we might have the makings of a genuinely good side.

Would be one of the softest 2 footed challenges you'll ever see, more sat down than lunged. Zaha's running feet would do more damage than Rojo's, however i think they should be given as red regardless, simply to stop two footed challenges of any kind.

Its daft trying to find a line to be crossed relating to force, intent and such. Two feet = Red, then maybe we find some consistency from these ref's. Decisions in general seem to be worse than they have been for a long time this season.

Doesnt help that the ref let so many Yellow's and maybe red's go for Palace before Rojo's challenge either.

He's an idiot. Just ignore him.

He goes around every thread doing the same.

Only certain players tend to really have "should have beens" held against them on here. Tends to be an excuse to criticise.

His last one was dangerous, todays wasnt and i couldnt give a toss. When he costs us then I'll complain until then ill focus on his contributions which have been great of late.

Solid game again apart from the two footed moment, glad he didn't connect. Really needs to cut that out of his game though, the last thing we need is a red card mid game.

He has been great this season, one of our best players, but after games like this you can't help but think he's a liability. How can you fully trust someone in an important game, say a cup final, if he has that in him? Hope he cuts out and carries on his good form.

Who cares about the tackle? It happened, he got away with it, no one was hurt. Focus on the positives. He had another great game today and kept the likes of Benteke and Zaha quiet.

I'm loving him at CB right now. He's exactly what we've been crying out for. I expect Rojo and Bailly to be an excellent partnership.

Didn't Ramos also have a lot of mixed performances at RB until he finally became a permanent CB?

Rojo was an absolve car crash at fullback, but he's been very promising at CB the past few games. Needs to at least have a whole season or more at this level before he's at Smalling's level though. Smalling gets the leeway because he consistently performed to a very high standard for around 18 months before his dip in form this season.
I don't know what you've been watching. Smalling had a few decent performances but it wasn't a "very high standard". To say Smalling played at a high standard is comparing him to the likes of Boateng, Godin, Silva, Ramos, etc. He was never on that level. Not even close.

Rojo I think, can be. He's pacey, aggressive, gets stuck in, doesn't hesitate. His marking is good, he's great on the ball and he always looks "up for it"...

Smalling on the other hand is like bamby on ice at times. Doesn't look like he can control a football and mostly relies on his physical presence to make up for his lack of everything else. He's basically Fellaini but a bit quicker. He's prone to shirt pulling and letting in headed goals too. Whenever I see him play in a big match, I always think he's a liability and most times, I'm right. I go back to the City game a few years ago when he got a red card and pretty muchc cost us the game... and then there was the FA Cup final last season where he stupidly got sent off and could have cost us a trophy. And then of course, getting destroyed by Chelsea this season which I think signalled the end of his United career. He's everything people like to think Rojo is.

It was a pretty bad tackle and I don't really know why he did it unless he wanted to lay down a marker or he really is a bit mental. I like having those players in the squad though. Teams who are playing us know we are going to tackle really hard and take no shit physically and we can bully them if they aren't really up for it. It's nice to have that mental toughness and strength coming back. Himself Zlatan and Ander and Valencia are those type of players. Baily is an absolute unit and Pogba is a serious athlete too. They can all look after themselves on the pitch. We need tough, win at all costs type players playing on the edge sometimes!

He's playing really well at the minute. Another much improved player under Jose. I don't know if he can show this form consistently over a whole season but I hope he can. It's easily the best he's looked since he joined. He looked tough and talented before he came but plenty of players don't really make it here too. And hey! Having a few left footers in the squad does actually give it more balance after all! Hahaha
