Genuinely convincing tonight. Have to give it to Jones though for that pushing upfield around the 73 minute mark and that tackle on Rose at the end. But Rojo was fantastic too.

Impressive today. Hope he keeps this form although he is prone to a wreckless tackle.

Was a beast today and has been great ever since Mourinho moved him back to the centre-back position.

He hoofs it a lot. I don't think he is a quick thinker on the ball and runs out of time to decide where to pass it so just hoofs it. It isn't a tactic because Jones looks to play out.
Yeah, that's the only criticism that I have for him in those last few games. But today he did brilliant, Darmian should give him half of his salary

Played two positions today, and exceeded in both of them. That's how good he was today and it is coming from the guy who used to hate seeing the sight of him.

I made a prediction that Rojo would improve tremendously under Jose at the start of the season. It's a shame I can't find that post and gloat a bit. :D. But I would still like to see Bailly partnering Jones as our first choice pairing.

Great game. One of the most improved players.

I don't care if ppl say he's not top quality, he plays like that lately, absolute monster today, pairing with jones surprisingly works!

Looks a different player when he is on form.

To be fair my biggest criticism of Rojo has been his decision making.

I also thought if he could improve his decision making and positioning he would make a quality defender.

Still remember when we signed him, I was fairly content with his recent performances for the national side. Seems to be getting back to that level.

Is he our only natural left sided CB? Blind can play there sure, but I think we have Jones, Smalling, Bailly all who do better on the right side.

Hes only 26 which I keep forgetting. He seems undroppable right now. Not too fussed about the pass completion from him in games like this.

No matter how good his old school defending is I just can't warm to him because of that.
I'm not a fan of old school defending either but I think he deserves more credit than that. Most of the time there is a method with him stealing the ball back and it's not simply clattering into the player and seeing what happens.

The problem is, he gets the biggest cheers from the crowd when he does go charging in and sliding across the pitch which will make him more inclined to do it. Like Rooney getting his biggest cheers when he plays the ball wide to Valencia.

Lots of credit due, did a fantastic job despite having darmian next to him.

Well, Bailly occasionally played left beack for Villareal, I imagine he'd do alright on the left if needed.

If someone would have told me we would be relying on Rojo and Jones as CB's at this point of the season I would have had a minor crisis.. But they have been absolutely brilliant to be honest these last few weeks.
I picked Rojo as my MOTM today, the man was everywhere and bossed Kane around with ease.

He was very good today, Kane barely got a sniff and I think that was down to how well Rojo played today.

I've been one of his biggest critics on here but fair play he was fantastic today. A real leaders display actually.

Maybe it's just as a left back where he looks hopeless.

There were some calling him shit in the matchday thread

I thought he was a beast today. Sure he hoofed it a few times and we lost easy possession therefore, bit defensively he was untroubled all game long.

Got to admit, he was probably the first guy I wanted out of the door in the Summer. Never rated him, too much money and on too much money. But, these last few games at CB with Jones, he's been great and today he was truly excellent. Tied for MotM against Spurs for me with Mkhitaryan (Herrera/Jones were outstanding also) and completely bossed arguably one of the best strikers in the league.

I'm not convinced he can nail down that position all season with the quality we can bring in, but it's nice to know we don't have to worry too much if there are injuries as he's more than capable of playing there. I think his weakness is when he gets too exposed, which is always going to happen more at full back. He's prone to some rash challenges when in those kind of areas that could cost us, but none the less, impressed with his form for the last month.

He was a monster today, dealt with everything that went his way and he also covered Darmian's ass over and over again.

He's been very good since he started playing as a center back.

I'm beginning to feel that Mourinho has a little bit of the Fergie effect. Contrary to many on here, I think he's handled Mihki very well....we are seeing that. I also think he's made Rojo a better player, or given him some sort of confidence in his own ability. Ferguson was brilliant at that, making average players look like world beaters. Just ask Brucie!!

I read a comment on there at halftime saying he should be subbed / was having a shocker. Honestly, I think some refuse to change their opinions on players once they form an initial opinion. I thought Rojo and Jones were awful, but both have been very good recently and they deserve credit.

Couldn't agree more, I have said often in the last two seasons sell Jones to anyone offering cash, regardless of his potential, he was rarely fit, and Rojo was an erratic accident waiting to happen at times. They have both played well in recent weeks, individually and as a CB pairing. It doesn't hurt, or shouldn't, to just say yeah I thought so and so was useless, but he has proved me wrong. I'd always prefer to be proved wrong about a player I didn't rate than to be proved right.

Again an example of not only playing in your right position but equally having a run of games is a better way of assessing a players ability

I prefer the physicality of him compared to Blind and hes paying with confidence which as others have said comes from playing regularly and the team generally defending well. I'm far from convinced that Jose sees him as any long term solution but working on the basis of taking one match at a time then he's doing little wrong.

He's showing some great form. He still concerns me when he has the ball at his feet but his defending has been top drawer.

Even though he's not that tall, he's ridiculously good at winning the defensive headers. Just attacks the ball very aggressively and times them amazingly well. Lovely stuff.

He has been solid at the centre of defence. He thoroughly deserves to start at the moment. Definitely a CB and not a LB.

In a back four, playing in the centre I don't recall him having too many bad games for us so it always surprised me when everyone wanted him out on the basis of being a central defender. As a left back though, yes, I agree he was shite.

He's been very good since being in the starting eleven, very impressed. Defensively we are still a bit anxious at times, but playing at the left side must be twice as hard with Darmian.

Fantastic performance today, like others said, he was essentially playing two positions simultaneously by covering for Darmian constantly. With both Jones & Rojo playing well as a partnership, it's hard to see Bailly and Smalling coming back in the side right now. But then again, both are injury prone players, especially Jones, so it's a matter of time.
