A little better near the end of the first half but we shouldn't keep him on the pitch further - with his style, Bolasie and Lukaku running around and already on a yellow (which was reddish anyway)

Yup. Was always going to have a tough game today against arguably one of the most physical strikers in the league. Smalling got away with a hell of a lot of worse performances on here.

He should have been sent off, but it's quite telling that this thread is more active now than at any point over the last 5 games when he hardly put a wrong foot forward. United fans are spoiled as shit.

Smalling usually has Lukaku in his back pocket. Rojo struggles aerially, as does Jones, and Lukaku is exposing this weakness today.

Horrific challenge, too.

Definitely should have been off, but he's been alright aside from that. He's losing the physical battle against Lukaku, as is Jones, but that goes for nearly every centre back in the league.

Shite for 25 minutes, looked good the last 10 minutes again. Squad player, not someone you want as a starter for the season.

Don't think he's been shite at all

Should have been sent off and was struggling with Lukaku. Passing has been hit and miss. I have been singing his praises but whenever a CB should be off the pitch, you can't be saying they're playing well. Worried now he's on a yellow in a game like this.

I think Jones and Rojo have done alrite. Dealt with a lot of balls coming into the box well. Rojo should have been off for sure and he did lose one physical battle with Lukaku but generally I think he's done ok.

Thought he was decent actually. Awful tackle though, red every day of the week. Him on a yellow makes me nervous as that's a very obvious target point for Everton to look for, and if he gets sent off, then we could well feck up the game.

 hey everyone, don't talk about that shocking challenge as opposed to someone playing alright

I thought he played well after that yellow (I admit I was nervous as feck about his staying on for the second half.) When everyone's fit, he's not a starter, but he's really upped his game recently.

I thought this was his poorest game since the move back to CB, he was a yard off and should have been sent off for that two footed lunge.

Could've ruined it way earlier. Last thing we need at such a time in the league.
Not good enough for United despite recent average (as opposed to dire) performances.

Was pretty good besides the horror tacjle. Has been good in the centre but feel CBJ and Blind are better.

Got away with that tackle IMO. Thought red would be an acceptable card.

CBJ made good impression as LB with our first team last season. Not so much as CB so it's hard to assess using youth & reserve football.

Blind has flaw in his game. Now our CBs are doing zonal defending which means they have to be physical capable to hold their own. Last year, we did more man mark with Smalling cover Blind's flaw. Different approach, different need. Rojo has been proving recently he's better fit in this approach than Blind.

He's had a good few weeks and I've been pleasantly surprised but that tackle was dreadful. Referee was too lenient on a few things but I have no idea how he didn't see that as a red card. Thanks for the last few weeks but I'm looking forward to Bailly returning.

Apart from that horrid tackle (should have been given red), Rojo done very well against Everton. Winning most aerial battles he had with Lukaku.

Not the first time he's jumped in with two feet. Totally stupid thing to do, and meant he was on edge for the rest of the game... didn't look composed at all.

That tackle was ridiculous, and needless.

He went down in my estimation after that. Tackles like that are the lowest point in football.

I'd say elbowing players (Fellaini, Aguero etc), thigh high assaults (Aguero), racist language, diving are much lower points in football.

Personally I liked the tackle, reckless, full bloodied and angry - (kinda how I like my women) and Rojo went up in my estimations, from complete and utter useless to kinda alright.

We have a lot of players who panic in situations that don't deserve a lot of panic. Rojo and Fellaini are usually the top offenders.

I'd add Darmian to the list too.

Terrible challenge by Rojo, deserved a red card. Aside from that he was OK, I guess. He wasn't as good as he has been but he wasn't completely terrible.

Nah, United's better than that.

The warped picture of seeing a player who's not good enough to be at United leaping in with a needless, cowardly leg breaker on a player who ironically is good enough to be here, yet isn't, was just depressing.

Let's be honest here - it's not a leg breaker. I understand he's not good enough and I'd rather we had bought someone like Cresswell or rather than that played Luke Shaw consistently but we've always had players who threw in hard and yes, reckless tackles.

Keane (one of my favourite players) is beloved on here (rightly so) for his fire and tough tackling, most people don't remember he was a dirty player at times and put in a lot of bad tackles.

For me, he's still nowhere near good enough. He's extremely rash and un-composed. Basically, I have no faith in him whatsoever and always expect a moment of madness is only around the corner.
