Very few players in football have the ability to dictate the pace and even nature of games, and unfortunately for United, most of them are already a major clubs - Modrić and Kroos at Madrid, Thiago at Bayern, Iniesta at Barcelona, and to a lesser extent - Pjanić at Juventus. So unless we unearth a diamond, Verratti is the perfect fit as a slightly different version of Pirlo in terms of bringing the best out of Pogba by introducing a passing hub alongside him, and the tandem could be a force to reckoned with for years to come as they develop further. We were spoiled by Scholes - who was a bit undervalued for the majority of his career, and it's now that the impact of not having him or even peak Carrick is being felt in the way our passing looks a bit chaotic in the absence of a methodical, probing metronome. The addition of a Verratti will go a long way in terms of addressing that.

He'll end up at Barca, Real or Juve most likely, but we should be all over this and at least trying. Signing Verratti wouldn't impact on Fabinho's place in the team, they could play alongside each other and Fabinho can also play right back. Verratti is probably the closest thing to Scholes out there at the moment in terms of his passing, ability to keep the ball, and tenacity.
Verratti, Herrera, Pogba (and maybe Fabinho) would be an embarrassment of midfield riches that we haven't seen since Veron, Butt, Scholes, Keane. If it's possible we should go for it.

Agreed. Herrera is smart, passionate, and has a versatile skill set in midfield. What more can a manager ask for. Verratti is a nice player, but largely unnecessary with the skill sets of Herrera and Pogba. Sign Fabinho to upgrade Carrick/Fellaini for 1/3 of Verratti's price tag and spend that money elsewhere.

I think he is a Barca midfielder/player if i ever saw one. Same could be said for Modric, Kroos or even Isco. He is a top player and could play for any club in the world basically, especially Barca.
