Don't forget Athletico's scouts, their team cost a grand total of £20million.

along with their manager
Meh, ship has sailed now with LvG looking certain to be Il Duche. In a couple of years though we can have him and Klopp fighting for the helm
Lahm, narrowly over Reus for me.
I honestly didnt find Lahm to be really good that season. Stable, but not outstanding. Though Reus did also have quite a few off games.
Will it be an exaggeration to say that he's the best German player as of right now?

Well given the fact that they were missing 4-5 first teams for a good half of the season, Im not surprised. But the whole Dortmund squad did underperform a lot anyways.

SourceManchester United target Marco Reus remains coy on Borussia Dortmund future
Manchester United target Marco Reus refused to commit his future to Borussia Dortmund, telling an awards ceremony audience: 'We'll see about that'.
The 24-year-old was voted Dortmund's Player of the Year by newspaper Ruhr Nachrichten, after returning from injury to score 10 and assist seven of his side's next 24 goals.
The Germany international is reported to be one of Louis van Gaal's primary transfer targets, should the Dutchman replace David Moyes as manager at Old Trafford.
Despite being offered a new contract to stay at the Westfalenstadion, Reus confirmed he is yet to agree new terms - amid reports that 35million euro release clause will become active in the summer
Speaking at the awards ceremony, he said: 'It's like that in this business. Every player only has one career and wants to get the best out of it.
'You have to decide what's best for you. We'll see about that.'
The attacking midfielder has not won any silverware since joining Dortmund from Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2012 and stressed the importance of winning titles in the future.
'Every footballer has his goals and is dreaming of winning titles. At the end of your career, you want to be able to say that you've won many titles.'
Jurgen Klopp's hopes of winning trophies have been seriously dented by the sale of Dortmund's best players in recent years - with star striker Robert Lewandowski set to join Mario Gotze at main rivals Bayern Munich next season.
That last bit of winning titles killed it for me. I think he is talking about imminent success by the looks of it. So not Man utd. Maybe Van Gaal can convince him otherwise.

Yes. The future is uncertain and for us fans, we will support this club for many years and we can see success in the future. But when he says he wants titles, he may be unsure in coming here. BUT, like I said, if Van Gaal convinces him of the future success then we got a chance.Really? We're known for winning things and if we get the right the players in and then LVG can convince him. I have hopes, however low they may be.

If he does leave this summer he's going to be in very high demand. More so than any other of our optimistically realistic targets. This could push his fee high enough for it to be worthwhile for Dortumund to let him go this summer.
Which has got me thinking.... If he stays at Dortmund until next summer when the €35m release clause becomes active, are we likely to see a bidding war between clubs pushing his fee beyond €35m, or will he leave for 35 regardless, but the bidding war would be over his terms?
If he doesn't sign the new contract, then its going to be harder to sign him next year because the clause becomes active and there will be a bidding war. 35m Euros is cheap when it comes to Reus.If we want to have any chance of signing him we just have to hope that he doesn't move this summer. Sort or sh!t out next season and go after him then.

Over his terms. Dortmund have no control over any bid above or matching 35mil so its pointless to offer more. Better offer him a high package.
You would have thought Dortmund could be tempted for a high enough figure then, if it allows them to sign the right replacements.
From the point of view of clubs who want his signature, they are going to need to be forking out a hell of a lot either way. Obviously he'd cost a lot more to a club this summer, but he won't be a cheap buy next summer either, when the inevitable bidding war starts over his terms.
I'm going into muppet mode already aren't I...
Its tough not to when you're talking of players like Reus.
And yes, I agree, sign him for 60mil now or pay 35mil next year with maybe 10mil odd to him and his agent for the deal on top of much higher wages. Clubs should be interested.
I just think that if we were genuinely in for Bale last summer for the silly figures mentioned, there might just be a chance...
