You just don't get how muppetry works mate!

I've already pulled my dick out the moment Rummenigge said they are aware of his clause. Not entirely sure whether I'd be okay with him joining, however.
What blasphemy is this? Not okay with him joining us?

I won't be okay with him joining United either, if that helps!

Presume you have a similarly altruistic view when United look to buy young English talent.
I agree with the UnitedWay - their league is different to us in that Dortmund were the one club who could really challenge Bayern - until they started losing those players to Munich...

There is a difference between buying young 15-18 years olds from lower leagues and buying proven, world class players from your direct rivals.

He's going to be the muppet transfer of 2015.
If I'm not mistaken the release clause is similar to Götze's, so most likelty it has to be triggered in April to give Dortmund enough time to find a replacement. Whatever happens with Reus next season, it really should be over long before transfer muppet season starts.

Of course there's also the chance that United agrees a deal with the player and waits until the release clause can't be triggered anymore, so that they can pay over the top late in August ;).

Don't say that to us @Balu - it's just going to tease us for the inevitable turn down from Reus.

He will surely be one of the highest paid players in the world if he leaves for 35m Euros next summer. Clubs will be offering him silly money to join.

He rejected Bayern when he joined Dortmund. I think he's more likely to go to Barca.

With a possible transfer ban next summer and them already having Messi, Neymar and Suarez for their front 3 positions? It seems unlikely.

I think his most likely destination is Bayern, but we should definitely give it a shot even if it's unlikely. He might fancy the PL league, or feel like he's betraying Dortmund by going to Bayern, who knows.

I actually think we may have a chance but I don't want to get any hopes up high.:D

Great. Thiago, Fabregas, Vidal, and next summer Reus. Can we get one summer without a long and futile transfer saga?

If we want to stand a chance of signing him, we have to do really well in the PL this season, not just 4th place. Reus' next destination is going to be a club where he thinks gives him the best chance to win trophies. Reus stated that he considers himself not a talent any longer and that it's time for him to win trophies. Of course nobody can guarantee this, but considering that we'll most likely face competition from Bayern, Madrid, Barca, the only way to convince him to sign with United is to convince him that he can win trophies at United.

I typed 'win trophies' a lot.

I suspect even Perez will struggle to justify Reus for Real with Ronaldo and Bale and James, Barca could well be banned next summer.

I think he will move next summer and given that Ribery and Robben are not getting any younger, Bayern Munich is a favorite, especially if there is a release clause that can be activated.
But just maybe if we do really well this year, we will have a chance to get him. Not really sure any other PL teams would be ready to get him.

Be nice if he stayed at Dortmund. If that doesn't happen, hope Woody's the one that brings him home.

Well with Real you never know. Maybe they'll try to play a 4231 with Ronaldo/Reus as a striker or James will 'disappoint' and they give his spot to Reus. I think Bayern is most likely though. I can't see Barca happening, they really need to strengthen their midfield and defence first and they already have 3 amazing players upfront anyway - only if Suarez gets hungry again.

I imagine they will get a proper striker in I feel, like Falcao or Cavani to be their star striker now Benzema doesn't seem to be flavour of the month. Putting Reus or Ronaldo as the main striker takes away a huge weapon of theirs which is cutting in from the wing.

If they don't get Falcao this summer, which is what it looks like, they will not move for him next summer. He will be 29 and a half by this time next summer. And well Cavani is available right now if they want. They can exchange Di Maria for him.

This could work. The question is does Reus want to move there?

Ronaldo

Reus------James------Bale

They were just examples of top strikers. I really cannot think of top, top strikers available now or potentially next summer that Madrid would look to buy as their new toy alongside James and Toni. I've actually heard Lukaku as one sporadic rumour though which is baffling.

Lukaku is not big enough for them yet. They will be in for him in five years if he starts banging in 25-30 goals a season from now on in.

Oh without a doubt, not stereotyping but he could be the new Drogba with his size and sheer power. He also does have a similar technique to him so he is one for the future. Madrid are rarely a team for buying young players who will actually properly develop in the First XI, Varane is the only one that comes to mind that has been given much of a chance.

I don't think it would for Ronaldo. For him to be at his best, he needs that free role on the left, having licence to drift infield with his anticipation and great movement. It is why Benzema works well for him, he likes to come toward the ball and outwide, inviting Ronaldo the opportunity to come infield. And IIRC, didn't Portugal try playing with Ronaldo upfront but stopped because he didn't enjoy playing there?

Reus would be perfect as a wide forward in LVG´s preffered 4-3-3 formation so I predict this will be the big Transfer thread of next summer.

Why is everyone so obsessed with replacing Benzema? He's a class player.

Real seem to want a new star name up top so Benzema is likely to move. Falcao being linked seems the plan. Nothing would surprise me with Madrid ie the Di Maria situation but I suppose Falcao in the box is better than Benzema.

Takes nothing away from Benzema, excellent player. If he does leave he won't be short of offers.

Way too much talk in here about him going anywhere but United for my tastes. I still think we should get in now and offer Dortmund an extra €20M over his buyout clause to avoid the scramble next summer.

I guess a false 9 could work. We'll see, maybe there'll be another favour of the month next summer for Perez, Hazard is my guess right now.

If that is the case it is even better because both the Spanish giants COULD be out of the running.

Reus to Bayern ? „Wir warten ab“

Bayern boss Karl-Heinz Rummenigge (58) speaks in Sport1 about a possible Bayern -Interesse at BVB star Marco Reus (25): "I have given up to me to make decisions a year in advance. This can be in this football world anymore. "

The chairman of the championship record continues: "In the past we have tried to clarify our transfers early. Today the philosophy is different. We wait only who we need. "

Reus (contract 2017) and can leave by clause Dortmund next summer for 35 million transfer fee.

No doubt. Every single club will throw their hat into the ring, though I don't see how he could go to Real or Barca.

But you can bet Arsenal, Chelsea, United and City will be clamoring to sign him.

poor move if he went to Spain, don't think he would get into Barca or Madrids front 3's.

Who would he replace out of Neymar, Messi, Ronaldo and Bale?

Yeah that's my point, I don't see how it would be worthwhile for both parties if he moved to Spain. Meanwhile he'd be a crown jewel for any of the top PL clubs if they signed him.

I wonder if Bayern will spoil the party...
