Marco Reus

Doubt Arsenal would get him. Sanchez was a top signing but Reus is different.

City probably favourites like you said if he did get sold. Are PSG in for Di Maria then? Would be a shame. I rate Moura, thought he should have made the Brazil squad. Who could go for him if he left? I'd love to fool myself in to thinking Spurs could get in there if his price has dropped significantly but I'm sure bigger clubs would be interested not to mention wages.

I'd say that if Di Maria is signed, Moura would probably want out. PSG will need to sell players if they're going to meet FFP, so he could certainly be one of those sold. I'd hope we'd be in for him if that's the case, but I wouldn't buy him for a large sum of cash, feck PSG.

They didn't sell Lewandowski.

I agree with your post though, Reus would only leave this Summer if an insane bid came in for him. I might see Hummels leaving considering they have Subotic and Sokratis (who played very well last season). They've also spent a lot of money so far this Summer.

This coming from a club that likes to try and balance their books each year.

No, this is coming from a club, who insists of not making any debt to buy success on the pitch, which is exactly what we are doing. We are not a selling club in the traditional sense that we need money from the transfer market to stay competitve. We are a highly profitable and financially healthy club right now. We have not directly invested into the squad until this summer, because we did not need to and used the money to pay off nearly all of our debt and pumped money into infrastructure. The ground work is done now, though, so pretty much any profit flows directly into the squad either as transfer fee or higher salary.

People think that throwing 120 Mil. € at us will just send us into the joy of rebuilding the squad, when we have not sold once for money since the rise near to the top of German football. The closest thing was Kagawa and he had a completely different contract situation. We were basically forced into selling to get any money at all for him. We will easily get around 80 Mil. € for both of them in 2015 aswell.

The additional 40 Mil. € are not nearly enough to get rid of three pillars (and in Hummels´ and Reus´ case two lead players) in one transfer window. One star player we can compensate, even two (like last season) when we are really forced to, but three leaving star players is equaling are real rebuild of the team. We won´t take that risk, especially at this point in the Summer, when Klopp is already in the middle of the pre season. This is not how we do business.

Agreed. I'm not saying you'll sell Hummels and Reus in the same window. But I could see the sense in selling one to balance out the books, which has been a common theme through the Klopp years (keeping the books balanced).

And why would we do that? What advantage would be balancing the books this Summer, if it would cost us one of our two most important players? We are still a football club and not a bank and have basically finished our transfer business for this Summer bar Ginter, who might still join. As long as it does not hurt us in the long term (e.g. taking a debt) staying competitve on the pitch is the most important thing for us. The investments in this Summer are a logical consequense of our profits in recent years and clearly planned. We have no intention of selling either Reus or Hummels this Summer and the investments did not change that.

History tells us that Dortmund like to balance the books. Are you saying that Dortmund are going to stop doing that and will now start spending money like Arsenal are? You're currently 30m euros in red this Summer, which is basically the sum you'd get for selling Hummels. If you think your club has decided to change tactic and spend to success then fair enough, i'm just looking at what your past seasons tell me and your net spend is always pretty much even.

Not as much as Arsenal, but yes, we are going to spend if we make profit. The profit of the last years was largely used for strengthening the infrastructure (stadium, youth and training facilities, etc.) and paying off the rest of the debt of 2005. The debt is now pretty much gone and the infrastructure is in great shape, so there is not much left to invest there. What is left is the squad itself.

We won´t make as much profit in the next years, though, because the wage level will rise in the future and the growth of the revenue will slow done somewhat. We made huge jumps in terms of revenue in the last years, because of our potential and the extremely low wage level in relation to our success.

Do you honestly think that anyone sells players for the fun of it, because it looks nicer to have an even spending?
Dortmund have been growing very fast over the past couple of years and as already mentioned already invested a lot into infrastructure and reducing their debt. So it's only natural that they are going to start spending more and more at some point.

Reus already guaranteed he would be playing for Dortmund next season. You can never take anything a football player says too serious but still. I'm sure Jurgen Klopp didn't sign a contract extension to see more stars leave. This thread has obviously been ignited by P$G closing on Di Maria. Reus imo is in the top 5 players in Europe right now. I would love him to come to United but I doubt it will happen. There is no real proper sources that we are even after him. If Dortmund would listen to an offer, I would go all for Reus. He would be an amazing signing but this thread is fantasy muppetry of the highest order:wenger:

If we really did match the Bale offer last summer, we should just try Dortmund's stance with heathy offer.

According to express he's already said no to you for CL reasons. LFC going in heavy with cash though.

"come on Marco, we've just sold the best striker in the world and brought in half of Southampton. What could possibly be a more attractive proposition than that?"

English media getting creative... again... how refreshing..

As if he'd want to leave Dortmund to join Southampton!

Well 30m in the red is more than cancelled out from the profits the year before

I think we'll pay his buy out clause next Summer if we're back with the big clubs in Europe.

He's surely not going to have a knee jerk reaction and join Liverpool after 1 great season.

Liverpool has as zero chance of signing Reus, especially this summer.

Can't see why he'd leave Dortmund for either us or Liverpool to be fair. When we're back in the champions league maybe but right now I'd be amazed if he ended up at either club this summer.

And you know you will end up with Jay Rodriguez, that's JAY not JAMES mate!

I actually rate Jay Rodriguez so I hope not. Don't think Lambert or Lallana will improve them but Rodriguez would imo, good player if his injuries haven't done too much harm.

Id imagine if the Vidal situation materializes we can lure him away from Dortmund,we should fire 40 million at them without a seconds thought.

---------Vanp---------
Reus-------------Adnan
---------Mata----------
---Vidal-------Herrera--

Lallana and Lambert are the ones who made Rodriguez look a better player.
Would prefer him over di Maria, but this is even less likely to happen.

I know...we said the same thing about Vidal and LvG's influence (along with money) seem to be changing everything.

I still don't see Reus leaving Dortmund this year.

Thought he said he wanted to leave this summer no?

Anyway, he and Strootman take them both nurse them back to health,on top of ,hopefully Vidal, and Herrera,,,christ it would look a serious team come January.

With the injury he had he won't be leaving this summer. Similar to Gundogan, wonder what his injury situation is right now.

I imagine he'll be the muppet transfer of summer 2015. By that time, will we even need him? We'll be lining up like this;

Van Persie
Di Maria Herrera Mata
Strootman Vidal
