Marco Reus

I actually think that Hummels is the one. I think that he will be one of the very best defenders in the world for a long time.

Last year we should have buy Bilbao, this year it's dortmund, who is next years bet?

 Exactly, plus they are based around fast attacked whereas Barca are the opposite. Don't think Klopp has any real focus on possession statistics.

Yeah. A high paced, high pressing counter attack team. Brilliant style to watch.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that they've had less possession in every game so far. Their game is so direct. Most passes seem to go forward. I'm pretty sure they aren't allowed to score until everyone but the goalkeeper has entered the opposition half.

Dortmund (when their football clicks) plays a very appealing style.I'm amazed by how quick thinking most of their players are.

To be fair most of our attacking players, Rooney in particular, are brilliantly quick-thinking too. It's just that recently we seem to be moving towards more of a patient possession game, so you don't get to see those lightning counter-attacks as often.

Settle down Beavis. Their pressing without the ball and space awareness when they do is very similar

That's correct but their attacking play is much more direct and not possession orientated at all.

Of course this is a bit more risky then going for a slow build up possession game but much more entertaining to watch imo.

Naturally Barca faces much more teams standing super deep and not allowing much space for fast attacks.

:wenger: Erm, okay..

Regardless of a bit of pressing, they're nothing alike.

Yeah apart from the technical ability of the players, they're not similar to Barça at all. They don't play possession based football, and their strength is their lightning-quick counter attacking. Both their goals yesterday didn't exactly come from long build-up phases. And I didn't know about that possession stat (that they've had less possession in each game in the CL), but it doesn't really surprise me.

They have some cracking players in that team in any case, Reus and Götze are brilliant at what they do, Lewandowski is an amazing center forward and very important in their system. As for Hümmels, I still think he's a tiny bit error prone (but I'm nit picking), but I believe he's the one with the heighest ceiling. Would love him at the club during the transition phase where Rio slowly fades away.

Am I the only one that thinks they're capable of knocking Barca out?
The way they play I'd actually give them a bigger chance than pretty much any other team (assuming whoever gets team isn't as lucky as Chelsea regarding missed chances, penalties, shots that hit the post/bar, etc.).

In terms of style and system they are much closer to United 07/08 than Barcelona of now.

it would be great to see them against Barca, Dortmund are very good in sucking pressure and could hurt Barca at the break.

How good is Großkreutz? I know the class of Gotze and Reus but it seem Großkreutz starts most games on the wing in the 4-2-3-1 for them too.

Not true., and I have followed Borussia for a couple of years. Though this year (especially in the CL) they are more direct, their play has very intricate passing patterns. Watch how players interchange, move the ball quickly and effectively. Even Beckenbauer remarked last year that Dortmund lacked simplicity in the final pass and they were trying too hard to play like Barca. This is a guy that knows his football.

What you see this in CL, is a more direct approach. The change may have to do with personnel (Reus is a much more direct player than Kagawa for example), or could be a conscious decision by Klopp following their CL flop last year.

Dortmund, Bayern, Real and us could knock Barca out, but Barthalona would be favourites in each matchup.

Großkreutz is a long shot away from the talent of Götze or Reus but he is a hard worker and helps out in defense a lot.

Usually Kuba would be starting on the right and Reus play on the left but Kuba is injured atm.

He is one of these players who play with a lot of heart and always 110% commitment and I think it's important to have players like him who mainly do the dirty work and work their socks off for 90 minutes or more even though he might not be as gifted as a footballer then some other players in Dortmunds squad.

Really great freekick in the match against Augsburg. Reus has raised his level after his move to Dortmund.

Was just away to post. I would love him here. Will never happen.

Didn't Dortmund let him go in the first place? Then bought him back to replace Kagawa.

Reus > Kagawa.

Yeah he's from Dortmund and came through their academy. He turned down bigger offers to go back if I remember rightly. Definitely world class.

One coach in the Dortmund youth set-up said he was too skinny and he then went to Rot-Weiß Ahlen at the age of 17. Excelled there, moved to Mönchengladbach two years later and just raised his game season after season - before moving to Dortmund this summer.

I can see him in one of Europe's top league in two to three years time.

To be honest with the way German sides are playing recently, we could now start to say that the Bundesliga is back on par (or at the very least on its way to being) with the Premier League.

I hope that the wealth of German talent stays within the country because it has been exciting to see the Bundesliga teams all start to perform.

That is of course unless Man Utd come knocking!

Reus is golden! His rise has been incredible to watch. Relatively unknown two years ago.
