People are talking some absolute shite in here. At 20m I am snapping Bayern's hand off before they ask for another 10. He is perfect for rotation. Not every player is going to be Bellingham. Not to mention we most likely won't be splashing much cash beyond the one marquee signing we do make.

They aren't gonna ask €30m for a 29-year-old player who has no place in their squad. He isn't going to be sold for more than €15m if we pass on him as we should.

It’s a no from me. He’s ok, but doesn’t really improve us in any real way. Any signings we make should be with a view to improving on what we have in the first team, or at least the potential to improve it. Not replacing underwhelming shite that’s sat on our bench with mediocre upgrades unlikely to improve from where they are.
Same. We are well stocked on bodies. We have enough squad quantity that we can focus on quality with the next couple CMs. We need to fix our complete loss of control when Casemiro is rotated. It's not going to be easy to address.

Agreed. Quality, versatile player who seems to fit ETH's profile.

Agree with this too. People want us to sign strikers who can't score or play really and midfielders who can't pass and then wonder why are we so behind teams like Brighton on the ball.

I am mostly on your side on this issue BUT there is one scenario, that sounds very good to me: straight swap DVB and Sabitzer. Sabitzer seems to be capable close to opposition goal. Something that hasn't been said about DVB in quite a while. At Bayern he maybe could take over the Müller Raumdeuter role from ... well Müller. We'd get a squad option capable of doing a good job as sort-of-AM and capable of a decent job at CM for the price of a player that has not use to us at all.

Supposedly currently on £200K + a week, can't be paying that for a squad player.

Will definitely get him at reasonable price. Lets say at 20m and 160k per week wage.

If it wasn't precautionary wouldn't they treat him somehow instead of letting him watch the game for the full 90?

Wasn’t aware Bayern pay those salaries

3 of the first 4 results when googling his weekly wage say £210K, the other £165K.

Who knows, may be nonsense, another says £55K.

If it is that first number I would be reticent to sign him without a substantial wage cut.

Hopefully it's nothing serious. We need as many players available as possible for closing part of the season.

That’s a good question, maybe they wanted him to rest it and watching it was fine, needing some time to see how it feels or if it’s inflamed

The idea should be to upgrade the starting team to make us better. Sign a midfielder who does the things we can't do currently and let someone like Eriksen become the good squad depth instead of throwing £20m at a 29 year old player who isn't good enough to be the regular starter. Sabitzer is a number 10 and we don't have any shortage in that position.

16 million in the current market is basically bargain basement.

He's a fantastic footballer, so it's a complete no brainer.

Will say what I have said since he came in and that's I would only sign him provided we get Caicedo to play that role alongside Casa and cover if necessary

Guy can play in any of the positions in midfield if Eriksens out, he’s in, Bruno out, he’s in, casemiro out he’s in. We need to rest players more than we do at the moment

He hasn't shown any decent ability to play in either Eriksen or Casemiro's spots for us as of yet. Fred's been better in Eriksen's, Scott's been better in Casemiro's. Neither of which (especially Scott) are really at the level we want anyway. The only position Sabitzer has played in and shown enough to maybe be decent back-up is Bruno's, and even that is debatable. Although I guess what we've seen recently is Bruno dropping back into the deeper role and Sabitzer playing as #10, so I guess he is still rotating with Eriksen in a way.

To be fair, I think he still hasn't played in that role next to Casemiro. Playing next to Casemiro is obviously very different than playing next to Scott or Fred in that deeper role, so if he was given that chance he might step up. Personally I doubt it though as he seems to have the same weakness as Scott in terms of barely getting on the ball.

I find his detractors odd. What exactly has he done wrong in his literal handful of games, while adjusting to the PL and a new team, that is anything but positive?

we have other gaping holes fill and duds to get rid of. Sabitzer so far, in his limited number of games, makes sense

I'm pretty sure we will sign him permanently after season ends, he's adapted quite well, can play numerous positions and seems to be enjoying his football at United. There is a small chance we may go after Kamada who may be an even better fit and is also free to save some money but otherwise I don't see us looking at other midfielders if we can get by with current group.

How are we going to swap a player that’s out with a season ending injury? Nobody is going to touch him

So right now we have:
Casemiro, Bruno, Eriksen
Mct, Fred, Sabitzer

6 players for 3 positions, I think we really need to sign at least 1 world class CM to play next to Case and Bruno as a starter. In order to buy Sabitzer both Fred and Mct need to be sold because I don't see us selling Casemiro, Bruno or Eriksen.
Also age has to be taken into consideration as our midfielders are around the 30 year mark.

In my opinion I see no reason to buy him, we need younger and more talented players.

I'm not convinced with what he does. Is he a slight better Fred?

We need someone to cover/challenge Casemiro, none of our midfielders can do what he does.
We need a creative 8, Eriksen is our only one and he can't be expected to play 50 games a season.

I was hoping Sabitzer would be a creating 8, but he doesn't seem quite that either.

Maybe he's a b-tech bruno?

I've not see anything to suggest he's better than Fred.
