Marc Cucurella - World Class Hairdo

If we sign Cucurella then ETH may be looking at using Shaw as a centre back more often.

I'd imagine it would be loan with the option to buy.
What? Just no, he'll be brought in as LB cover only and will probably be ahead of Malacia in terms of LB choice.

Why would he drop either Varane or Martinez who have been our number 1 CB pairing for a long time now for a makeshift CB in Shaw. It simply won't happen.

Worth reading through the thread on here about him from just last summer to see what the general consensus was on him.

The player posters are describing in that thread is one we should be absolutely jumping at the chance to bring in.

The question is to what degree you believe that a) he was overrated at that point and found out at Chelsea or b) he's now underrated off the back of a nightmare season at a club that generally had a nightmare season.

If it was a transfer I'd be extremely wary but as a loan move it would seem to me there's enough potential upside for it to be worth a shot.

Good post. I was very flippant in my initial response but I guess he could do a good job for us. I like Malacia, and believe under ETH he can keep improving but if Shaw is out (again) for an extended time I can understand the move. I just truly hope this does not take money away from midfield and striker were we drastically need more help. Dalot can do a job over there too.

I like Cucurella, but when was he crowed "world class"? But I hate to see Alvaro not even given a chance. Forest were the perfect opponent for us to test drive young Alvarado before the transfer window closed. It's not as though Dalot prevented two goals from being scored on us in the first 5 minutes.

I'm not going to sugar-coat it, I thought he was comically bad for Chelsea and I always thought he was overrated at Brighton and not worth anywhere near the £60M Chelsea paid for him. But as far as emergency loans go, I suppose he can do a decent job for us if he can discover the form he had at Brighton.

Well its good a big club isn't making a move for him in this window....oh wait.
Look. Sometimes it just doesn't work out.

He's had a year plus experience at Chelsea, the pressure will be off him to perform because the expectation isn't there. People are used to him playing not as good as he used to at Brighton.

He's also experienced enough to handle being emergency cover.

Out of the 3 choices he's my number 1 choice by far.

after one season at Chelsea, all players looked shite last season tbh, he turned into a super shit player on here. Remember he had a brilliant season at Brighton as was wanted by Pep as well !

Maybe the answer is they are all shite... probably why they are getting rid.

Pep wanted Alexis, Maguire and Fred too, that doesn't make them good. In the end City opted for more defensive minded fullbacks and it's worked a treat for them.

Really don't think this is how you should judge a player.

Pep doesn't even use conventional full backs anymore, so he was never going there.

We have three choices to play LB currently. Stop wasting money on shit Chelsea players ffs.

Using the "X manager wanted him" argument is always stupid. Fergie wanted plenty of players that turned out completely shit. There's a reason you don't give a manager every player that ever catches his eye, not even City does it for Pep (unless you're us, then you just bend over for ETH's latest darling)

Worst of the three in my book.

Marcos Alonso at least can hit a cross and a mean free kick, legs gone or not.

Reguilon is rubbish but still better going forward than Cucurella.

You sure he’s worse then Alonso would be in a back 4, in this league? :nervous:

No but he wont be much better. And we need someone on the pitch who can cross. Shaw is like 40% of this teams creative output.

Read again, I said more often. I didn't say ahead of either of those two.

It gives ETH the opportunity to rest in the cups.

signing mount and cucurrella from chelsea

what are we doing...

Rather give Alvaro a chance or move Martinez to left back for a few games . As Lindelof and Varane did ok last season when they played together

Not quite enough in my opinion. We still have Lukaku, Malang Sarr and Callum Hudson-Odoi available. They're top players!!

Always a stupid way to judge a player.

Feck Cucurella, feck Alonso and whoever else.

Sign that Barco kid from Boca. He's going to be a top top player.

On a loan this is a great deal IMO. He was brilliant at Brighton. Just because he’s been trash at Chelsea doesn’t mean he’ll automatically be trash for us - could just be the environment/miss management

From what I remember during his short but hilarious spell with Chelsea, he was constantly out of position and looked clueless. And that was under his old manager. He has the athleticism but needs a working system to walk into.

No brainer If possible. A pure loan in a position we are short on where's the problem?

Also he simply can't be worse than Dalot in the left.
