What game against Newcastle?
That's a bad reply Devilish? You use a popular football phrase/cliche which means feck all.

Don't be so simple, we all know Erikson choose player base heavily on their club, so I won't be surprised if Heskey is playing for Sunderland (for e.g.), he would have no more than 3 caps now. However, if Erikson choose the GK of a relegated club as a first choice instead of Robinson, you know what that means.

Charity shield game against Newcastle. Or Manchester United double - double where the conclusion of that was "Linkman (Cantona) won versus all EPL clubs"

What are the "two or three positions" Veron can play in? Centre midfielder, midfield playmaker and creative midfielder? <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" />

Of course.... but mainly because, some of our players are in their late 20's...(giggs will be 30 in Dec!) I like the link with Sporting, hopefully, we'll pick up Ronaldo and Quaresma(and groom them for the first team).... both players have immense talent, plus there's always the possibitly we'll buy great Brazilian talent for Lisbon...to look after.
Future is very bright.

There is nothing in the job description that says this player has to be in the Cantona mould. Sheringham and Yorke were link men, they werent "unpredictable and skillful with flashy tricks etc. Seems like you are the one who does not understand the concept of a link man devilish. You are right though that Cantona-type players are often the ones doing the job effectively, but doesnt mean others cant do it just as well. Usually these kind of players can only play the link man position effectively, not the other way around. Any kind of player can play the link man position.
Scholes has been doing magnificently in his role as link man, we have been by far the best team in Europe this year, we have blown teams away. Juventus are scared of us. Scholes has finally clicked into place (thanks to Carlos) and that has been the difference throughout the year between a lacklustre Utd of last season and the brilliant champions of this season.
Why you continue to deny this is mind boggling. Its pretty much a fact that Scholes has been fabulous as a link man, he was up for player of the year - not to say that Ronaldinho/Kewell wouldnt be great for us too.
As for your choices, I personally wouldnt go for Rustu. Dont rate him that highly. I dont think he will come here and dominate and command this sea of superstars that he cant communicate very well with and is inferior to in terms of size, reputation and wage packet. and maybe even experience.
I think Kewell and Ronaldinho have the potential to be absolute fan favourites here though. Would be surprised to see them both come. If one of them come its gonna be painful to see he one we missed out on....and if both come..well...that probably means we have sold someone.</strong><hr></blockquote>
Whether Scholes has really "clicked" in the link man position I still have some doubt, especially if you watched back our close season winning run, nearly all of them are Giggs to play behind Ruud as a free role and Scholes play in the midfield with Keano.

Thats because Giggs was ineffective all too often and sometimes we needed to utilise his pace - and Veron was out. I still reckon Scholes is a great link man as proven by our storming through Europe.
I was of the opinion that Scholes starts as link man and Giggs out left and they interchange as they see fit.
Scholes has predominantly been playing a slink man and thats why he has been playing so well and has been our key figure this year. and is why he was up for awards.

Scholes has proved that he can play in both positions. Acutally I think he is one of our most versatile player. it's difficult to find a more complete player than him.
As about where will Giggs play, it hugely depends who will we get in the summer. If we get Kewell or Duff, then Giggs will probably continue to play as the link man.

Dear Kenyon,
We think "Dave" Beckham is our weakest link.
Please get rid of him immediately.
by the most loyal hard core fans, giggzy and weastie.
P.S. Please name Veron our captain and build our team around him. He is a red thru-and thru and the best thing since sliced bread.

Oh I know....
He said sommat about Ruud being, my beloved Ruud..after I dared to rate him higher than Davey...
He also wasn't happy about me saying that Scholes is better than Becksy.....
If he supported United as much as Becks, he'd be the most loyal fan ever....

No... I say that because I'm 100% sure I haven't said anything like that. It's just the kind of people who can accuse you of something you never say. He said I should ashamed. But should I? I have supported Manchester United for over 15 years, at that time we haven't won the league for a century and I was so glad Lee Martin has scored the winning goal to help us win the FA Cup (in the replay against Crystal Palace).
I think no matter what people said, "being honest" is the most important thing. Earlier in this season, when Keano was being critized he has lost it, I support him and insist he can still do the job. When most people want to sell Giggs at the start of this year, I say give him chances and he could prove you wrong. When all people are hunting for Barthez's head after the defeat against Real, I'm one of the people stand by him and said that he had rescued us for many times this season. Until now I still think we should keep him. I have said a dozen times Scholes is our best player this season, is the most completed midfielder in the world, and I also vote him as our player of the season in the Red Cafe poll. In the "players rating of the season", I gave Scholes and Ruud the highest marks. Click on my profile and you can see that my favourite player is still Ryan Giggs. I support him for over 11 years and I think he is the most talented player we've ever produced during the years I watch United.
So? The result is that people accuse me of "support Beckham more than United". They said I want to sell everyone except Becks. Is it true? But then, do I need to care? Certainly not. As I've said, "be honest". When I put my hand on my heart and can still say "I support United, I love United", then I know I have nothing to be ashamed about.

We need a target man as a replacement for Ruud when he is injured. Ole doesn't perform the role as well as Ruud and no-one else even comes close as a forward outlet to hold the ball up and play others in as we break forward. In the support striker role tho' we have a wealth of talent, Scholesy, Giggsy, Ole, Diego. Nuff said I reckon. </strong><hr></blockquote>
Spot on, unfortunately its not gonna be enough because I have been saying this since Andy Cole left and still people dont seem to catch on....
With Ruud we are the most dangerous team in Europe IMO (even more so than Real). Without him we are soft cuddly kittens. Im not willing to take the risk of going into an important game without Ruud and without a good alternative.

You wanted to know about Cantona’s ability to create chances out of nothing and I had answered you by telling you to watch the Charity Shield game against Newcastle a few years ago (sorry don’t know the exact date because Im bad on that)
Yes Cantona was the driving force behind the double double team. His class and creativity was the major force why we won the double double with a bunch of promising kids. I don’t know why you are laughing, after all this phrase was repeated by half of the Fergie babes include Scholes and Beckham
Now returning on Sheringham and Yorke
Yorke had the class and the positioning of a real link man. His technique permitted him to stay deep while his vision and positioning made him able to score loads of goals. Yorke was a typical link man whom communication with Cole permitted him to swap position with the English striker and sent the markers into chaos. This “change of roles” would have given you the impression that we had two main strikers (this thanks also to Coley’s hard work and altruism) but the truth was that Yorke was the link man and Cole the main striker.
On the other hand Sheringham was one of a kind. He didn’t need technique or pace just because he left his brains do the work but deep down he was also a link man in the sense that he was always at the strikers back, opening him options where to score
Looking back SAF had always worked with a link man. That is why he is desperate to find one now.
