He’s a good player but he’ll be even better when we are a pressing team super high up the pitch as Amorim likes. He’s better when he comes out of nowhere and intercepts rather than tracking runners in the middle of the pitch. In the Amorim system our players are supposed to sprint back out of possession and that’s gonna take a long while to get everyone else up to speed. He’s a fit guy already so I have no worries about how vital he’ll eventually be for us
 
As much as I like skill player, you need player who can be in position to win the ball back.
 
Excellent, he is a warrior, Imagine once he get used to the premier league. I love this guy.

He's improved our midfield in exactly the ways he promised to improve our midfield.
 
Really enjoy his game when he’s playing well. Great defensively and solid at keeping possession.
Loved his assist. Will be brilliant if he can keep up this form against tougher opponents.
Will be interesting to see where Mainoo fits in. Either next to Ugarte or further forward.
 
Funny how some managers just know how to get the best out of players, but also how some players really struggle in other systems but excel in some specific ones. He's perfect for Amorim

So true, he’s not amazing at running alongside, but he’s good at coming in behind his man.
 
Has enjoyed a really good month since ETH left - he definitely brings a lot of what is needed in midfield.

Fairly average on the ball but for now he is a valuable asset.

Longer term he may not have the technique for a team going for the title, but certainly the least of our worries for now.

Very interested to see him and Mainoo as the midfield 2 soon!

Agree up to the Mainoo bit.

Probably one of the best partners as is, but reckon we will get the best Mainoo further forward.

We will also get the best Ugarte if free to press high up with an appropriate (not a converted Mainoo) deeper partner. We don't have that currently so will make do with Mainoo/Bruno/Casemiro combos.

Thinking ahead, Bruno, Mainoo, Amad and Mount could combine for the other two, with Garnacho as a more direct and pacey option.

Sell Rashford, buy DLP and the spine starts shaping up really well.
 
Had a good game. Could still do slightly more with the ball but at least he tried to make an impact going forward, got an assist and before Mazaraoui stepped in and crossed for Hojlund's 2nd he had won the ball high up and tried to find a teammate around the box but it broke down. So a bit unlucky there. Overall a 7/10 performance and continuing in the right direction to be a big player for us.
 
His turns on the ball and minor body adjustments when receiving the ball in tight situations to not get square/caught by a pressing player is quite fun to watch. He's doing his job. Now it's up to other players to step up and Amorim to get the right selection and balance on the team sheet.
 
One of the first names on the team sheet for me under Amorim, think he's vital.
 
He needs to commit to fewer duels IMO and choose them more carefully as well. He just doesn't have the physical profile to carelessly keep throwing himself into 1v1 duels throughout the 90 minutes and help his team that way. I think Amorim will see this too and maybe he's already told him this.

Also, I still believe he will never be a guaranteed starter for us, and a new, starting quality DM will be signed to replace him, but he has had some decent performances already, for sure.
 
Absolutely love him. He will do great for us. Just need to find a way to play him wit Mainoo and the rest of the team ahead. Not sure that duo can compliment Bruno's sloppy game build up.
 
I think he’s actually a lot better on the ball the he looks. Not the most aesthetically pleasing midfielder you’ll ever see, but he has a good touch, doesn’t give it away and knows how to pick a pass. Add in his interception numbers and ability to press and you’ve got a really solid player there.

I like him so far. Exactly the kind of profile you need in midfield.
 
Think he has been getting better and better on the ball besides intercepting/tackling/taking back possession quite a bit. He's decent at dribbling, switching play (bypassing at least 1 teammate to move the ball away from pressure) and passes neatly.
 
I feel he’s going to be a massive miss today. But I guess this kind of tells us mount ugarte and holjund start against arsenal

He did well today off the bench, but the game was already won - so it was just a rotational sub. He of course starts on Wednesday
 
He won the ball back in quite a few tricky situations, he will be crucial in a few weeks

I hoped he would fill a need for us with Casemiro on his last legs, but he is a quality player. Great at breaking up possession but he's been so much more assured in possession than I was expecting. I thought he was excellent today.
 
Really good today. Also quite impressed at his quality on the ball, and the composure he has under pressure.

Yeah he was good today. Should have actually partnered him with Casemiro than Bruno for me.
 
Goes about his job, doing his job by performing the things that he needs to do in his job and making sure he does his job.

Good job.
 
Good performance overall, was still covering every part of the pitch and pressing forward when we were 2-0 down. Good signs.
 
Felt sorry for him, was playing by himself in the middle of the park.
 
Getting better and better as he adjusts. Has more to his game than people gave him credit for.
 
Probably our best player today which is a good sign moving forward. Just need some creativity from the guys in front of him.
 
His ball recovery work is world class, elite level.

Just wish he had more on the ball, getting the balance correct around him will be key because teams will key on his midfield partner to stop and slow ball progression because of his limitations.
