Manuel Neuer

VDs interview on italian TV. Teh y kept probing him about his retirement and made it very clear that there was no chance. Give it up guys he is retiring. Said its time to play golf now

Anyone else notice how much Neuer looks like a lesbian?

When asked on UK TV he would not give an answer..

I saw that interview and never got the impression he was considering his options, he was having a bit of a laugh over it and then seemed to get a bit emotional about it (when he said 'next question') but it was more like he didn't want to discuss it than he was thinking of changing his mind.

There's no way he'll be with us next season in my mind, unfortunately.

Some people here are crazy :lol::lol:

1) Messi goes to Man Utd is a higher option than Neuer goes to Dortmund.
2) NEUER GOES TO BAYERN MUNICH........you can bet your house on it.

I want him too at Old Trafford but no way this will happen.

Not read back but I thought he had almost signed with B Munich

Ferguson impressed by Neuer show

Sir Alex Ferguson says Manuel Neuer's performance against Manchester United may be the finest he has come up against in his 25 years at the club.

United were dominant at Schalke in Tuesday's semi-final first leg and produced a catalogue of clear-cut chances, but they were unable to beat Neuer during the first-half.

On 50 minutes, Javier Hernandez fired the ball into the net having been ruled offside, and Ferguson believes that paved the way for Ryan Giggs and Wayne Rooney to score in the 67th and 69th minutes, but he was still left in awe of Neuer's performance.

"In my time at United, it is probably the finest display of goalkeeping against us," Ferguson said. "I am sure there have been other feats but tonight I saw a very good one.

"There was a frustration towards the end of the first-half when Neuer made another save from Ryan. When that move broke down our players started walking back and I sensed a bit of frustration. We had to correct that at half-time

"But the thing that broke the camel's back was Javier Hernandez's goal being chalked off. That took away the frustration of the players because they knew they could actually beat the guy even if it was not easy."

Ferguson is believed to have looked into the possibility of signing Neuer as a successor to Edwin van der Sar, but it seems the Germany international has already agreed a move to Bayern Munich.

Asked whether he would make any effort to sign Neuer in the wake of his performance, Ferguson said: "I think we know [he's going to Bayern]."

some people here really seem to have lost the plot, or know very little about german football. Neuer going to Dortmund would be like gary neville joining liverpool.

Why is it "he's going to bayern" as opposed to "i think we know [that i am going to make an effort to sign him]"

Muppets unite!

Van Der Sar on german TV: "Manchester United have already made their choice on who to replace me."

Interesting. The obvious assumption is that it's is De Gea, but knowing our recent transfer activity, it will probably be someone else. Neuer would be amazing but it looks like a lost cause.

Sky Sports Interview with Fergie is where that came from and the reporter speaking to SAF says:

"You mentioned the goalkeeper, does his performance demand you double check he is going to Bayern Munich?"

Fergie: "I think we know that but, (resigned look on his face) you don't know for sure. But, he is fantastic, one of the best performances I have seen against Manchester United".

He certainly looks the business. I can't see us not checking on his availability at least. Is De Gea a certainty? Is De Gea any good? Is De Gea as good as Neuer?

I think he'll probably be invited to a VIP tour around the museum before the return leg.

I still think a lot will depend if Bayern can get into the CL next season. I do not see a player of his quality wanting to throw a whole season of European football away. He could have seen his contract out with Schalke for that.

I wonder if the players on the plane home are raving about him and telling Ferguson we have to sign him...

It would just be like United to pull one over the media and sign him.

That was a big pat on the back yesterday from Fergie at FT.

Is there something that we don't know?

Or the Alpha Male version of a tease. Not to be overly cynical but sometimes things like that are all you need to plant ideas in a young man's mind. The back pat ("Yeah, I could see myself playing for a manager like that"), not just the glowing praise but the unspoken implication within that praise that fantastic GK A, who was on the night beaten twice by fantastic forwards B & C, could conceivably play on the same frocking team. All the little things can add up. If you have serious interest in signing the player than it's a bit silly not to try the little things even if you know the player is going to another club. Bottom line is you never know.

I'd guess that since he is on a free we would pay him a higher salary than Bayern would. And if Bayern fail to make the CL next year that could change things.

Tonight proves that every top team needs a world class goalkeeper, as they can make the difference.

As for Neuer, he will go to Bayern unfortunately

To be honest, I think Fergie would love to sign Neuer but that the player has set his sights on moving to Bayern. It would take a change of heart for Neuer for us to have any chance of signing him. It seems that he's driven by willingness to stay in his homeland, and therefore Bayern are the obvious choice.

So how can he say that he is leaving?

Even if he only has a year left the fee won't be that high I suppose.

Yeah his contract expires 2012, I think he feels the club will let him go if he asks for it as a gesture of appreciation after his years at the club. The fee will most likely be between 10-20 million euros.

Amazing performance.

I'll be honest, I haven't seen a lot of this guy before but he was just so dominant it's hard not to compare him to the Great Dane.

he decided not to renew his contract and that he will move this summer, or if Schalke wont sell him, leave on a free in 2012

He'd be a great signing but all indications are that he is going to sign for Bayern so I won't be getting my hopes up anyway.

This is going to be like the Torres/benzema thread of a few years ago....mass suicide!!!

I just can't see us pulling this off - but if there was even a slight suggestion of him being open to a move still at this stage then all the stops would be pulled out.

It's not just his ability in goal but he has a presence about him that all the top keepers have. He'd be my number 1 transfer target if I were in charge at the club and would be moving mountains to get him on board.
