Manchester United vs Perth Glory (Sat 13th July, 12:00 UK time)

I know Pogba etc aren’t playing but we’re in desperate need of some quality in midfield.

We lost Herrera and Fellaini we should be prioritising a top class midfielder, the links to Lemina and Longstaff are ridiculous.

Agree.

Seems like with switching the wings Chong became more effective while James disappeared a little.

Not surprise really, we are not used to have right side there for regardless who is there, we wont play there.

What's the point of the opposition defending the entire half ? I don't get it. It's a freaking friendly. Why don't they attack a little bit ?

They probably see it as a decent opportunity to give their defensive lines a workout against hugely superior opposition.

Jones still making rash decisions to break the line. Will get punished in the prem.

Not really, the oppositions in PL will at least try to counter.

They are also, they're are just rubbish. Point I was making is that we need to figure out how to break teams down under Ole

From the first 45 mins of the first game with a shadow squad? Are you serious?

Do you often only read the first sentence and sack off the rest? I said this half means nothing.

Chong still looks nervous.

We don't play through the right at all. We could have the best winger in the world and still go left

I remember people saying the same last pre season. Moyes pre season too.

It's only 1 half of pre season football, so of course means feck all, but the common notion that you can't really tell anything from pre season is a bit of a nonsense IMO.

I wasn't being sarcastic dude.

Central midfield area is the big problem. We're passing it to the first man almost every time and it just makes it easy to defend against.

Chong doesn't look ready at all, hope we sign another winger and loan him out

Young gives a desperate pass to Chong who has to sprint (quite fast in fairness) and just about manages to stop it going out for a goal kick, instead giving them a throw in.

The commentator: "that's a glimpse of what we can look forward to next season". Great stuff.

We are obsessed with playing through our left hand side.

When James was on the left, he seen a lot of ball. Moves to the right, gets ignored.

Agreed. We need 1, if not 2 creative midfielders.

Really is crazy the difference between Chong and James switching position. Player on the left becomes so much better.

Chong still looks nervous.

The odd time we have played down the right Dalot has wasted it. Probably wise to use the other flank.

Not surprising as Young is a decent and experienced player with a head on him, and a tryer to boot. It's at the highest level where he struggles now.
Yeah you'd have to imagine he'd be one of the best players in the Aussie league.
He looks a lot better at left back to be fair to him.

Chong just looks nervous to me. Should relax and flow on the pitch more, seems to overthink his decisions.

Boring one way half. Loads of possession, hardly any chances. The right flank is dead whoever plays there which is disappointing.

With the subs in the second half I guess we'll be better though.

Some impressive performances from the fringe players and a solid one from James, but still there's a very long way to go. Arguably 2nd XI this first half but some times they have not a fools idea about how to pounce in the final third. That should take a lot of tactical training, a lot that I hope they get to actually train.
