Manchester United vs Liverpool (Sun 4th August, 00:30 UK time)

A bit of an underserved lead imo. We've been playing better but unable to take our chances. Doesn't help playing without a striker.

Collyer has the energy and seems to have good instincts to intercept but I'm still not convinced about him technically. Seems a bit clumsy on the ball both in passing and ball control.

It seems to me that it's more Rashford smashing the ball into people's legs. His dribbling has been good but his timing and passing have been off so far.

Maybe an instance of that, but I've been watching this match mainly focusing on Amass' positioning and Collyer's technical ability. I'm willing Collyer to be good enough, but I do worry for him.

We've been the better team... but our second string defence, Casemiro and Collyer not really being very good at defending has cost us 2 cheap goals imo.

Youngsters have been poor, defence predictably slow, though unsurprising considering the personnel.

really hope sancho leaves, guy offers absolutely nothing. Jota is 2x the player

Over all the games, not just this, I’ve really not seen the hype that collyer getting. Seems very average to me

What a stupid post.

You can't post anything substantive against my literally commenting of things that happened on the pitch so you'd go for an attack.

Bet you thought AWB did well there at the back post for the second goal conceded.

I'm not sure he has it in him. What do the posters who watch the academy say? He looks scared in possession and a bit sloppy. Lovely engine, great aggression, but I don't see anything else so far.
Barely got to watch him as the u-21 games are rarely televised on MUTV and in the games I watched he showed nothing special. Same with Oyedele. They might showed more in the games that were not televised though. But both of them are nothing more than decent in my view.

Harry Amass casually blocking Mo Salah was delicious to watch

Getting embarrassed overseas wouldn't be a good look

Shut up shop and keep it respectable

If you're going to play high pressing high risk football you need to be

1. Good at keeping possession of the ball so you don't give the opposition endless chances to hit you in transition
2. Have a team of players who are physically and athletically capable of defending the transitions.

We are poor at keeping possession of the ball. And we have the oldest and slowest midfield and centre backs around.

It's a recipe for disaster.

Really doesn't impose himself, never available to receive a pass and never seems to press off the ball either. He's just their, on the field not doing much.

He looks good for the age that he is, he's just not ready for the first team yet.

Same old loopy match thread....

Anyway, we look decent at times, better than Vs arsenal.... but feck me have we lost that defensive stability from season 1. Hopefully when we sort out the defence it clicks.....

Horrible comment. Collyer is having very possibly his best game on this tour and is one of the standout players

Defensive stability from that season was a bit of an illusion, De Gea had some wonder games and Utd still got thrashed in plenty of games and that with a decent version of Varane.

Amass and Collyer are impressive. Not sure the former is ready to play games this season, but the latter definitely.

Sancho looks like a lost kid out there, it's tagic.
"Looks like"? He is lost and is a child, or at least childish. I hope somebody buys him this Summer so we can bid farewell

They've definitely regressed as the games gone on. My initial thought was Rashfords crap passing was the issue. I didn't realize Sancho was playing for about 10 mins.

I'm getting so tired of us slowing the ball down at the back. Don't see anyone else doing it.

They really are, against Liverpool nonetheless. Despite what some posters would make you believe, they are having a standout game
