Manchester United vs Lens (Sat 5th August, 12:45 UK time)

Yep real weird one. If I were to be generous, maybe he realised there was no one available who would fit that profile so decided to just bypass that role and go for two attacking midfielders instead with Eriksen and Mainoo in reserve.
Mount is the biggest worry and how far up hes been told to play.

Every other midfielder we've been linked to other than Caicedo would have cost less. ETH was adamant about Mount so he'd better have a plan for him that works. This will not work.

Mount seemed a really, really weird signing for me as a layman. Like, REALLY weird. I just couldn’t understand why we were signing him, at all. Hopefully ETH has a plan beyond what we’ve seen in preseason.

I really hope Amarabat comes in.

Garnacho is absolute class and so exciting - much talk about ‘potential’ this transfer window, but this lad has proper potential.

Such a nice goal that. Playing well here. Shame that the match day threads are ruined by such miserable bastards.

What a play.

Was shitting on Antony the first half, and he goes and gets an assist and a goal. Good stuff.

What a goal. Think Antony could have a big season. Great play by Rashford and Garnacho too

Think that’s exactly what Haggy wants from us. Transition.

As soon as I start watching we score 2 goals

He is supposed to be as high and compact to the backline as possible, with the entire team pushing vertical a solid 10-15 yards because of that compactness and competency - when we are in possession of the ball and attacking, which we were.

Shuffling back or opting to be a sweeper keeper comes in defensive phases and/,or retreat, which we weren't doing.

Bottomline is none of our defenders are supposed to turn over the ball and gift-wrap it for the opposition, and every time they do, there'll be clear lines to goal and very easy goalscoring opportunities. You remove these players; the system remains in place.

I think many posters here have shown that they dont understand football very well.

Lovely goal! Great stuff by all of Rashford, Garnacho and Antony. Very promising start to 2nd half
