Rashford seems rusty. Doesn't feel like he fully "applies" himself, if that makes sense. A bit lethargic
 
I think we've been pretty good today. On another day we'd have smashed them. Two random errors from the chuckle brothers gifting them goals.

Couple of opportunities given away because they pressed well but that's always going to happen.

Onana and Mount look like solid signings. Casemiro, Rashford, Bruno still not sharp.
 
Before we play our next preseason game, I swear Ten Hag should take the whole team for some special training at Hereford for a couple of days, just like some American sports clubs take players for a little bit of special training at West Point.

edit: The New York Rangers did it around 8 years ago.
 
Can't believe I stayed up for this shite. Bad performance, terrible defending and we struggled with most of their counter attacks.

Rashford seems to be in one of those modes where he just tries too much and nothing comes off.

Onana's passing and bollocking of Maguire was the highlight of the game.

Yeah all too often hes walking, then he bursts into life and then he's walking about again. He does this in actual games too but smartly comes alive when it matters so it's very forgivable.
 
Defense better tighten up, this is a season of 1-0 victory. Shit finishing and I don't think Hoijund can improve it. Rashford and Antony missing open goals.
 
Casemiro does take 5-6 games to get into any rhythm. Cant blame the first team coming on and having to get some momentum going in their game.
 
A shame we couldn't get the win, but the performance itself was pretty decent. Still don't seem very threatening in the final third, though. Hoping it can all fall into place come our first game vs Wolves.

He will play the role that fans won't appreciate.

We'll see the individual brilliance of the likes of Ganarcho. But, not the work to create the opportunity or the plugging up of the holes that Mount will do to prevent any counter-attacking.

That's why coaches/managers love Mount and most fans will still wonder why we bought him.
 
Not been fun waking up at 03:30, 01:30 and 02:00 for three defeats in a row. Oh well. That's preseason for you.

Thought we'd run away with the win after the first XI came on, but we looked much more sloppy. Shaw, Casemiro, Bruno, Rashford, AWB all a quite rusty.

New contract sorted, he can do whatever he wants in the next 5 years and there is nothing you can do about it. He got his money so now he has no pressure to deliver.
 
ffs...that is school level foolishness playing a square ball across the middle by AWB. It completely left us wide open to get countered. Fuking muppet
 
Our style of play is chaotic, isn’t it? Vertical vertical vertical all the time. No emphasis on controlling the game at all. Players like Bruno, Rashford even Casemiro give the ball away for fun all the time. I was hoping there would be a change in style, not dramatic but a slight change in controlling the game but nope. Still the same. I don’t think we can go far this season with this kind of football. I don’t trust players like Bruno one bit in taking care of the ball.

Yeah I hate saying it but does feel that happens whenever someone signs a new contract
 
AWB, Antony, Hugill and Rashford all should have scored. Crazy the chances we missed last 2 games
 
First half: McTominay somewhat anonymous. Forson's head not in it. Williams played well despite the mistake. Definitely good enough to be given a chance to start for a PL side.
Domination for 42 minutes, then the brainfarts came. Pellistri, Dalot and Eriksen standouts.

Second half: OK. More of the same. First 11 came on, created chances but missed them all. Goal was a fluke. Defensively not better than the backups.
Rashford very disappointing. If it were Lukaku everyone would be talking about his touch on the ball. Does get into good positions though which is important.
Evans does not look like he earned a contract based on ability.
Too short of a time for anyone to stand out really.
 
Those 2 goals conceded in the first half were abysmal.

Sancho, Pellistri, Mount and Onana all looked decent. As did Adeyemi for Dortmund.

Hope we can just chalk that result up to all of the travelling.
 
Who were the ones who gave the ball away for the 3 goals? I forgot now. I know AWB was goal 3, was Lindelof one of them?

I thought he played well and was good on and off the ball but he doesn't get on it enough for me. Martinez, Casemiro, Shaw and Onana being the only players trying to make plays through the midfield simply isn't enough.

It may be a tactics issue but sooner or later, we're gonna need a player in his position to start dictating more.

He always does that. Tunnel vision. Passing to people surrounded by two or three players. He's just not very smart.
 
Good In parts but seriously underwhelming with so many defensive errors, we need to be sensible however this is pre season and we still have two more games to sort out a few issues. Sancho is ok as a false 9 but won’t score you more than 8-10 PL goals a season, Mount and Bruno look to concerned with defensive tracking back to really offer true creativity, this could be just bedding in a new system as the defence are still not as high as they should be playing with A Onana.

Harry Maguire and V Lindelof can not play together, it’s that simple, Evans looked a safer CB than both in this game. I thought we actually played better in first half But we sill don’t control games, Ericsen looked ok for 30 minutes, Pelistri dangerous but still no goal threat.

Rashford has come back late, not yet match fit and without him as a goal threat we look lack lustre in front of goal, it’s only a friendly but losing is a bad habit to get into. I thought DVB looked ok too in the first half and he does score goals when fit, but we need to have a nice win on Saturday just to get back in wining habit.

There is a big difference in what they do at Hereford and West Point? The equivalent would be Hereford and Coronado.
 
one thing i really found interesting was how he had the CB pushed into the midfield and building out in a back three at times....our CB's just aren't good enough on the ball to be doing that and Dortmund were set up defensively in a 442/451 so that seemed a bit overkill

Williams and Lindelof for goals 1 and 2. Williams didnt give the ball away but lunged in and lost his man
