so fabio is and has been available?
shinji has a game on tuesday in japan. that should allow him to take a morning flight(japan time) on wednesday and be back in manchester by wednesday evening(uk time). that should be sufficient for him to be available right?

I don't know for sure about Fabio. He supposedly played in the behind closed doors game against Rotherham last week though, so hopefully he is available. Rafael posted on his Instagram about starting training next (this) week so I don't think he is too far away either. I would have liked to see Fabio feature more in his brother's absence though (if fit).
I have no idea about flight times and jet lag from Japan, but it'd be nice to see him play if he is up for it. I vaguely remember Fergie leaving him and Chicharito out after long flights last season so I won't be surprised if he doesn't feature.

Is Rooney definitely still out?

2nd season in a row some odd freakish gash has kept him out. Leg last year, forehead this year.

Shame it is when Kagawa has had a long haul trip for Japan as would have given him a rare start in his real position.

Whilst Kagawa isn't playing, I'm sure Moyes is explaining the situation. We've had a tough start.

I hope Rooney is back for this one. Rooney and Van Persie alone will win this match for us. I'm excited to see more of the deadly duo this season.

As a partnership they haven't really pulled up any trees.

nope, only comfortably won the league in a season the wingers didn't turn up and we whinged about centre mid all season. With spells moaning about defence too.

Caused him some problems in 2010/11 too.

If Rooney doesn't make it, then I hope to see a midfield three of Carrick, Fellaini and Kagawa, Zaha on the right and Nani on the left, and RvP up front.

Do it Moyes :)

I'm loving the fact that this game is on very early on the Saturday. The sooner we wipe that predicably shit Liverpool game from our system, the better. I fecking hate going to Anfield.

------------------------------Fellaini------------------------------

---Jones---------------Fellaini---------Fellaini------------Fellaini---

------------------Fellaini--------Fellaini-------Fellaini--------------

Nani
Fellaini
Carrick
Kagawa

Rooney
van Persie

Zaha, Hernandez, Welbeck amongst subs

I cannot believe how many peeps think we need DeGea in goal for this match. This should be a walkover. This is the type of game Lindegaard and other players new to the team should have a go at.

Clearly the previous poster seems to think so. He's included Rooney in the line up despite the fact he hasn't recovered from the head wound.

Why would we rest him? How many other teams rest their 1st choice keeper in league matches?

It would be nice if we had adequate backup for De Gea should he, God forbid, get a knock or the virus. And I feel that any player needs someplaying time in order to remain sharp.

Surely Lindegaard can play in the carling cup, or even the CL game.

Pointlessly chopping and changing keepers was one of the reasons De Gea took time to really settle. It might only be September but we are 5 points behind the league leaders. We want 3 points and clean sheets, not Lindegaard.

Two huge games coming up, I hope we rest a lot of players. But not De Gea.

De Gea
Smalling Jones Evans Evra
Carrick Cleverley
Zaha Kagawa Giggs
Cheech

Fellaini to get a sub appearance, and surely Zaha has to start.

Do we need to rest players in league game 4!? We need a solid win, not some sketchy reserve team outing.

This, no anders please.

Well, we host our toughest opponent in our CL group midweek, then away to City on the weekend. As well as Liverpool in the League Cup midweek after next. So rotation will be necessary.

This is why you arent a football manager.

Resting key players in a league match is a suicide, titles have been lost due to it, you put your strongest side out in every league game, with the exception of a CL or CUP knockout tie if you either aren't in the title run or are far ahead in the title run. 4 games in with a 3/2 point deficit on your main rivals you dont rest a bunch of key players.

You clearly haven't watched much of us if you don't think we usually rotate frequently in the league. We almost never play the same XI in every league game. Moyes has only rotated less than usual so far because he's getting used to the players and we had a tough start. I expect him to use the squad, its deep enough and the quality is there to justify some rotation (no-one is suggesting wholesale changes btw).

Well, I take it you haven't watched much Manchester United football in recent years.

We'll probably be looking at the next couple of fixtures we have and the internationals when deciding the 11 for this one. But I don't see why De Gea should be benched. Luckily not too many of our players played during midweek and one of those who did, Kagawa, probably needed the game.

Im not talking about standard rotation that every top side does Im talking about resting key players, because Palace should be a walkover. Its one thing resting like for like, but if people are suggesting you rest DDG, RVP etc then thats where it becomes a problem. Dont you remember what happened when you rested for Blackburn two seasons ago? Or when we rested Mata and Hazard vs QPR.

Well I was referring to the earlier posters who suggested resting RVP, and another who suggested resting DDG. If you rest a player for another of equal quality fine, but you cant. Lind is not nearly as good as DDG and RVP is the top striker, especially if Rooneys out, Plus he needs goals not rests.

Every top club rotates, thats not the same as resting key players 4 games in with an arrogant view that an EPL team is a walkover.
