Manchester United Vs Bayern Munich

Worst performing now but aside from trademark corner that doesn't beat the first man, Giggs hasn't done much IMO. When two of your central three are either playing poorly or anonymous, it's issue vs a side like Bayern. Maybe it's one of the reasons they win back position so easily.
Yup. Fletcher and kagawa on and we might have a chance here... Neither will do less defensively and just add more composure and quality on the ball.

I expect them to step up in the second half, we often looked fecking useless in the second half of the beginning of the second half, I hope we can continue like that. Have the feeling they will raise the tempo and finish it in the 20 minutes after HT.

How the feck was that goal annulled? It's not Welbeck's fault Martinez decides to stick his head in. Welbeck wasn't even near his head, he just knocked the ball into his path.

it was a foul. That's continental football for you.

Worried about them getting the final pass right, but Welbeck's shown our danger up top too. Nerves are shredded already, only three more halves to go...!

Fellaini out - Fletcher in
Giggs out - Kagawa in
We need to make better control of ball possession.

You might not like it but Moyes's tactics are working so far. We're defending well and the long balls to Danny are a trouble for them. If anyone's to blame that we're not ahead already it's the players. And the ref maybe.

This what I expect in a Moyes team and would like to see him set us up in this way more often. Everyone is putting in a shift, even the limited ones are doing their damnest.

Imagine what we could do with a central midfield. Even Carrick is obsolete these days. We need three or four new ones.

that miss Danny :( why? :(:(

what about Fellaini... can't tackle, can't jump, can't hold and protect the ball, can't pass it... easy one of his worst performances. Needs to shake it off soon.

Not a good performance overall. Being overplayed for 45 min now. Merit to the back 5 we still in contention.

We parked the bus, we better not miss our chances. Cmon we can win this shit!!

It's been a masterclass in deep defending, but you can't keep that up forever against most teams, not to mention Bayern. Welbeck and Valencia have done well on the odd occasion we've had to break. We need more from Rooney, Giggs, Carrick and Fellaini. In the latter case, a different player would be the best plan - Fletcher would be the obvious choice, and he's way more proven at this level.

Can´t understand why Wellbeck didn´t just hammer it in, you can´t try something like that against one of the best teams in the world.

Imagine we played like that vs City and Liverpool, I'm sure the results would both be different than 0-3 and for the better.
It would have been terrible. I hate this kind of football to be honest. It's only excusable against the likes of barca at their peak or possibly this bayern side. To play this way against Liverpool and City would be worse than losing 3-0.

Anyone who says "Fellaini did nothing wrong in that half" can't have watched one minute of it. He did most things wrong. I think I saw him win a header, and at one point he avoided giving the ball away by passing it back to the defense. Those are the things he didn't do wrong.

Personally I find welbeck to be frustrating. His touch is very poor and he is very wasteful. He manages to get by solely on his power and pace, but personally I think he out out of his depth. He is obviously going to score now that I have said that
This just isn't correct at all.

This how I expected Moyes to organise our team against the firepower of Liverpool and City in the league.

I guess those drubbings at least taught Moyes a thing or two about how exposed our defence is when we don't sit deep.

Scorline is better than expected at half time. For all their possession they haven't made a lot of chances bar that one Robben shot, De Gea had us covered though.

After seeing all their games for the last few years - that is quite typical for Bayerns play, especially against stronger teams who aren't that easy to score against when they park the bus. But it is quite exhausting to chase the ball without getting a lot of it for 90 min. And they can always bring a fresh Götze, Mandzukic or Shaqiri in Min 70 to exploit fading alertness or lack of concentration.

Thinking about it, half time is probably the worst thing to happen to us. Now they can regroup and we have another chance to fall asleep.

Think that Wellbeck chance has rattled Bayern.. Time go for the killing and not let regain their control of the game.

I would be thrilled if we have played this game at Munich. However we're at OT and seeing Bayern dominating us that way is painful.

Well we defended quite well did we? To be honest, we would have been one up and we would have deserved it. That golden chance!!! Sigh
But that's not the same as "going for it"?

I don't know about deserving it. We've been looking for scraps really. Still, we defended very very well.

One thing for sure - we're doing better with this team than if Moyes had felt the need to stick Rooney and RVP on the same pitch. Injury forcing him into a better formation methinks...

Fellaini has lost the ball a few times. Giggs hasn't been as influential as in previous games. However, all in all, I've been pleased with the effort from the players. Expecting Bayern to have a good chunk of possession. We've kept are shape well. More of the same for the 2nd half and a few more chances. Hopefully, we can take 1-2 of those chances.

Nah, Januzaj would not be useful in this game. We have far too little ball to make use of him and get the team up the pitch.

Shit, they have Götze on the bench, they better not bring him on.. he's ace!

Fellaini is the only useless player in our team.

Whoever you're playing with, the amount he's given the ball away and failed to win duels has to come down to him. I don't deny that he did these things much better for Everton, but for whatever reason he is playing shit, from an individual point of view.

As much as I'd like to see Kagawa, I'd take a 0-0 to be honest. I don't see how Kagawa is deemed more of a defensive risk than Giggs though.

*WOAH. He's in for Giggs.

Fellaini has been giving the ball away under very little pressure at times too. I still think physically he can be a threat for corners and the like though. If our best chances are to be from set pieces in the second half, not an improbably scenario, I think keeping his height on the pitch if nothing else might be an idea.

It was 100% the correct decision. I don't have any idea how this is getting debated, it wasn't even a call that the ref would had difficulty on deciding what to do.

it was a foul. That's continental football for you.

It might be me being biased, but I hardly felt Welbeck's action was dangerous to himself or Martinez. He raised his leg to lead the ball on. Is he really just supposed to let Martinez win the ball, because it's too high above the ground?

No, I think Kagawa for Giggs. We'll get more chance of interceptions from him along with a different threat going forward. Bayern just aren't giving Giggsy the space to get his head up like Olympiakos did. Januzaj would be a massive risk. You've got to look at how hard Tony's having to work. You try to stay in it till the latter stages in Munich and take your risks then.
