Manchester United Vs Bayern Munich

This is quite similar to our semi, as I predicted. I see no reason now why you cant get a 0-0 or 1-0 win and make them work for it in Germany.

That Welbeck miss will go down in history just like that Bendtner miss against Barca.

"If only Welbeck scored that goal against Bayern, that would've been number 4"

We've done well - the complaints in here are ridiculous; what where some of you expecting, us to out-play them or even try and make it an open game? That would be suicidal.

Welbeck has no bottle in one-on-one's, otherwise, we'd be up 1-0 at the half despite all of their possession.

Yeah this is the only possible way we'll get a positive result.

I can't tell you the last time I saw a ref call halftime while a team was taking a corner.
A welsh ref once did it in a WC game. Blew the whistle as the ball was in the air from a corner...right before the attacking team scored.

Cant remember his name.

Edit: Clive Thomas, Brazil v Sweden, World Cup 1978.

Concentration has to be at it's highest this second half. All this possession is going to take it's toll on us in the second half, going to be shattered. We need to take more care in possession we've showed we can get past their defence, need to keep it up!!

Really happy with that first half, a tad worried about the tiredness though, we can't keep this up for 90 minutes.

I've barely seen Giggs, might be worth to bring Kagawa on something around the hours mark.

Why wait. Get him on.

Fallaini, Valencia and Welbeck will do that to you, no substance what so ever. feck me we have gone downhill since 2008.

Yeah man so true. The 73% they had over both legs against City also demonstrates what Nasri, Silva, Yaya, Fernandinho and Navas will do to you. Feck me man have City gone downhill since Ireland and Bellamy...

Might be an unpopular opinion but we miss RvP and his world class hold-up play big time. Robin upfront with Rooney and Welbeck on the flanks and we'd be even better IMO. Good result so far, though Welbeck really should've scored.

United are doing well to be still in the game. Fair play. Defending like absolute lions. Bayern are amazing though. The high tempo they play at is unreal and the fact that they can play so fast and still pass the ball so well is truly unbelievable. They are honest too. Other teams would have tried to get a united player sent off by now. I don't know what moyes is raging about though, he shouldn't blame others for his failures.

We've played really well. I can't complain too much. Fellaini needs to stop giving the ball away. Welbeck should have scored. He can't keep doing that forever. Vidic has been immense. D Gea good as usual.

It wasn't that bad but Welbeck really needed to score, we won't get many more chances, if any, in the rest of this match. Just hope we keep this up for the second half now.

Oh Fellaini has been pants, even in the 'big tall guy who wins headers' role.

Tactically, I think we more or less blunted Bayern. Top marks to Moyes for realising that he will have to use the extreme pace and power of Welbeck to counter when we break their flow.

We press high... GEGENPRESSING! Anyone seen Dortmund play? It''s the exact same type of pressing. High pressing from attackers to make them hurry a pass.

Only difference is, Fellaini and Carrick don't back that up by pushing forward so taht when a loose ball breaks Bayern gets it back again. The same thing reversed, Bayern have those players there. But, defensively we're solid.

We can't do anything if our midfielders can't pass to save our lives. Fellaini hasn't arrived, Carrick has been good defensively, but not making a meaningful pass forward. Giggs at least is trying to get the ball forward.

Buttner has been outstanding. He needs to keep that concentration up.

We have a game lads!

He probably couldn't believe his luck and was hesitating! So useless

He's our most dangerous player. Bayern are literally dominating us. Welbeck's pace is one of the very few ways we've got to get the 3 points out of this game

Good half. I don't care about such possession domination, when not much came from it. We had two great chances, they had one, that is hardly a chance when against De Gea.

I can't tell you the last time I saw a ref call halftime while a team was taking a corner.

Not a halftime, but we had the same happen to us at full-time away in Madrid last year when we had a corner in injury time. Pesky European refs...

Up until THAT point Welbeck, after De Gea and Jones, had been one of our best players. Absolute shambles that. The fact he tried at all is just mind boggling. He'snot playing 'FIFA' with his mates. Oy!

Giggs been anonymous, Felliani losing the ball far, far, far too much. Still think we need a Kagawa or a Januzaj up there or even through the middle.

Fletch or Kagawa for Fellaini, please.

Having a player capable of playing football will help us, rather than whatever it is Fellaini does.

A welsh ref once did it in a WC game. Blew the whistle as the ball was in the air from a corner...right before the attacking team scored.

Cant remember his name.

Clive Thomas. I know cos he worked with my old man. Bit of an idiot.

Still all to play for, though we're giving the ball away far too easily in midfield. Can we have Kroos please?
Yeah, Kroos should switch teams for the second half. It's just not fair how it is at the moment.

That wasn't a bad half. We had the best chance of the half and it says it all really.
Its good to see that we aren't frustrated with the amount of possession they're having and we've to continue that. Our mentality should be like 'have as much of the ball you want to have but try catching us when we get it'

We can be a lot better in the final 3rd.

Neither have been shocking, if they had it wouldn't be 0-0. Really don't get the Fellaini hate on here he was fine, didn't do anything great but didn't do too much wrong.

We've played a lot better than any of us thought we would, we're set-up well.
Fellaini just seemed to lose the ball almost every time he got it, either by running into a tackle or mispassing the ball. He's been alright as defensive cover but really bad when we need to pivot and turn defence into attack

We need fletcher on for fellaini if we want any hope of nicking a result, same with kagawa for giggs, so we can actually keep the ball a bit. 2 subs and we might have a chance... We can't keep this up though, they'll find a way through eventually.

We've done well so far. A few nervy moments and a good save from De Gea but otherwise fine. When it gets late we'll see if we can deal with them after chasing down all game. Welbeck knows he should hammered that shot.

Anyone complaining about Buttner needs to get their head out of the arse and watch the fecking match. He's been very solid in this 45 minutes, more solid than Patrice Evra this season.

How the feck was that goal annulled? It's not Welbeck's fault Martinez decides to stick his head in. Welbeck wasn't even near his head, he just knocked the ball into his path.

Look what's the point in harping on about it? It's magnificent stuff. I can totally relate to this stuff..nervous, passionate, miskicks, sweaty, terrible brilliant battle. Mistakes all over the place but they're 100% committed and we're hanging in there against the best team in the world. We've created and the longer we frustrate them, the bigger the possibility we have something real to play for in Munich. They're playing for us, aren't they? We can't be pulling the "we're United , we should bow to nobody at OT". I'm loving this. And hating it. But mostly loving it.
