Of course if we win or get decent display out of it Ill be happy to eat humble pie and say I was wrong.

However it not...look out the Moyes thread(s);)

Midfield trio of Carrick-Fellaini-GIggs, oh the mobility :lol:
fecking Moyes

Forgot to add in Rio and Vidic behind them... Our manager really is clueless at this level isn't he.

If it's anything less than 2 goals between us it will be a result in my eyes.
I don't think to many would be upset by that, playing against probably the best team in the world at the moment with ourselves in our current state. But I can see us winning 2-1 and then going out against them in the second leg.

I can see why people are saying good team. But that would be the team Bayern wanted. No pace at the back or midfield, a right winger picked to defend and no creativity.

Weird feeling. It's the quarters of the UCL and I have absolutely no expectations of us getting a result.

I try not to kneejerk in these threads, but I thought Giggs would have started on the right like against Madrid last year, with Valencia at right back and Kagawa deservedly starting, which would have allowed us to play Jones and Vidic at centre back and not be so ridiculously deep like we are when Ferdinand plays. To be honest that still would have had major weaknesses, with Ribery and Alaba against Valencia and Giggs, but at least it would have allowed Kagawa to play. I think we're screwed, we can't play a high pressing game due to our back four, which basically means they're going to be camped in our half the entire game. Hopefully I'm wrong, but if we get out of this with only a two goal defeat I'd be astounded, that was probably always going to be the case but Kagawa not starting is really annoying. It also begs the question, why did he come off so early against Villa? He clearly wasn't being saved so was it punishment for daring to play well? Frustrating.

No Kagawa is an idiotic decision but we see these kind of decisions every game now. Rafael being injured doesn't help us.

Can't say I like the team; we're going to be dominated so we should play players who are more likely to do something at the other end; unfortunately we've went with an attack similar to the one that couldn't muster a chance versus City.

I haven't used that in a while, I usually use livefoot-to-ball-etc, and Bloodzeed can be quite far behind when it works for me at all. I'll be able to find okay rivers easily, I was just wondering if anyone has a good river.

We are going to get slaughtered. And I know we are very limited with our squad so I won't totally have a go at Moyes for the line up, but the Kagawa omission is a big one for me.

If the system makes a player look poor then I'll say that, but I'm happy to admit when someone just has a bad game too. I don't hate Moyes enough to think he's the sole blame for everything that's wrong with us but I won't sugarcoat his deficiencies either.

Agree with that man!

I like the line-up. Fellaini is a threat in the air too... Set-pieces could be a great avenue for us over these two legs.

Gettin the butterflies in the stomach now. C'mon United!

Fellaini is going to get outclassed, or sent off, or both. Dunno what he offers that Fletch doesn't.

It does feel like he's bottled it and hid under the Moyes comfort blanket. Skill players - out. Intricate players - out. In comes an under performing winger, a vertically challenged striker and someone who could probably get to the ground on the bus for free.

No disrespect to who came in (despite the above) but Januzaj and Kagawa should be there. We need play makers to stand any chance.

Tbf there's not much else he could've picked. What did you guys expect? Us to suddenly have Vidal and Ronaldo in our squad?

The defense is purely forced on him due to the situation.

The only obvious issue is Fellaini instead of Kagawa.

Fellaini's getting sent off. This is not a prediction but a spoiler. He is slow and is incapable of dispossessing an opponent without fouling not to mention his fetish for elbowing random opponents.

I would have played Valencia at fullback, Jones in midfield with Carrick and Fletcher and a front 3 of Januzaj, Rooney and Welbeck. Kagawa and Giggs would have been options off the bench. Fellaini also on the bench incase Jones got injured

Hard to see where the goals are going to come from for us. Rooney, obviously, but unless he's planning on assisting himself, then I can't see any creative outlet. Giggs maybe, though his form is a lottery at his age. There's no middle-ground. He'll either put in a worldy performance, or have an absolute howling stinker. I'm not expecting the former against Bayern.

Absolutely nothing. They're going to pass it around our whole team. No quality in the team, no pace other then Welbeck, shit defence. It really boggles the mind how Moyes could think that lineup was a good idea. fecking hell.

That's what I thought at the start of the season as well, still waiting to see that threat...

Come on Fellaini, prove your worth!

Before we signed him I'd have said that. But he's posed next-to-no aerial threat since he joined, oddly enough. It's probably daft, but he doesn't look like he gets off the ground at all.

I think this will happen too. Referees in Europe doesn't forgive players for doing stupid things.

This thread reminds me of the times under Fergie when we'd see the line up and then talk endless amounts of shit about his selection policies; only to then be left with egg on our faces (gladly) when we pulled out a great win.

Well, expect for the part where we won after.

I'd sooner have Fletcher in the midfield than Fellaini since i feel that he would be more disciplined and a better reader of the game around him. I might also have risked Valencia at RB if it meant a younger element to our CB combination in the shape of Jones.

It's one thing Giggs being the master puppeteer against Olympiakos and quite another being so against Bayern Munich, Kagawa is unlucky to miss out IMO.

Naturally, time will tell.

I don't get how the answer to the question "What do we do if we lose one play-maker?" is to make sure the other one doesn't play either.

I said earlier today that if Fellaini plays he is going to get sent off, Bayern will target him.
