Rafael is an all-action type of player, we have to deal that with his strengths, will come mistakes and moments of madness, that's only natural. He has matured greatly though.Lazy was perhaps the completely wrong word. I'm tired.
What I mean is, a couple of times I've just got the sense he gets agitated or stroppy if things don't go his way which affects his performance. I remember the City game 2 seasons ago where we lost 2-1 at home and Rafa had a stinker. He gave up in a way... got way out of position, made bad tackles, stopped running at all sometimes. That's complacency - possibly a bad example because he had a bad game but still.
Please don't suggest Jones or especially Smalling as a back up right back. They just can't. Imagine playing Smalling as a wing back in Louis' 3-5-2 formation
In regards to Jones and Smalling, that's why I said probably not this season as they will be forced to play in the middle 3 and will also see more time due to Rio and Vidic leaving. I am not expecting either of them to ever be considered by van Gaal as an option on the right as a wingback.
