Manchester United vs. Arsenal

When I saw that midfield

Right perspective here people.

We still have our first choice goalkeeper playing, and also a great defence. The twins on the wings sounds exciting and hopefully they will twist the Arsenal fullbacks inside out. Up front is fine - Rooney and Chicharito.

Central midfield is the only thing that could be a problem.

I am not sure if O'Shea and Gibson can provide the energy we need. :nervous:

What a waste of time for Deschamps to travel down for this match

I reckon Rooney could play in midfield today. Scholes role?

I'm going to go with Fabio playing in a midfield 3 and Rooney out left with Chicharito up top on his own.

Is that the expected return dates? I thought Rio was out until after the international break.

What the hell is Southgate on about how Berbatov can't get anywhere near the team. He started in our last game.

It speaks volumes about Obertan when the manager decides to play a fullback instead of him out on the wing.

If Carrick and Fletcher were playing people would still complain about the CM not being good enough, so what difference does it make?

The twins on the wing will be exciting. Doesn't say much for Obertan and Bebe though.

He's basically thrown it. He's said I don't give a feck about this competition that's served me so well and more importantly I dont give a feck about the fans that have paid to go to the game. I mean that's ridiculous isn't it.

I for one look forward to sitting back, well chilled, and checking out what Rafael and Fabio can do on the wings. If we get trounced, even better, we can give Valencia 45 minutes to regain fitness.

Reading so many comments about the team selection, sarcasm detector has exploded.

People are genuinely complaining, and it's like they're ignoring the bit where he says Fletcher and Carrick won't play in midweek...knowing that, how can we play Scholes and Giggs now?

One could argue that arsenal are a damned sight better at football than Marseilles and logic would dictate that you play a stronger team against stronger opponents, particularly when a victory would give you a great chance of a big trophy win.

Fit midfielders for Marseille ?
gibson,scholes,giggs,valencia, ando? park?

Its suddenly got less amusing

If Bebe or Obertan had not been so below par against Crawley, then I'm sure one or both would have started.

SAF had to go with people he can trust to do a job and this is probably the best team he could put out considering the circumstances.

Fergie said he's out of Arsenal game, didn't said anything about being fir after international break.

But knowing Rio, it's possible.

It does show far both have fallen, particularly Obertan, who was trusted to come on and make an impact in big games at one time in his United career.
