Manchester United view sidelining Marcus Rashford as key to cultural reboot

Everyone but the idiots running the club at the time knew not to give him that contract. I don't know how we'll manage to move him on easily. This could get messy for a while.

The minute he went out in Dublin last year I would have got rid, he should be a senior member setting the standard, not an 18 year old kid. A lot is expected of you to play at the top level, fair or not and in exchange they get an inordinate amount, he doesnt have the correct behaviour for someone who is supposed to be a leader/ elder in the group.

100% Sell and make an example, he shit over the club on more than one occassion.
Dublin? Must have been a tour of Ireland then after a good night out in Belfast

I don't really see the point in making a big hullabaloo. If he needs to go, just move him on. Actions speak louder than words.

RA has basically called the 2 lads out for off the pitch distractions, not being good team mates and not putting enough effort in.
They both need to pull their socks up if they want to have a chance of remaining at United

As it should be.

PSG are the only hope, unles Chelsea are still stuck on stupid, which they don't seem to be.

There's also the factor of Rashford simply saying no, which is a real possibility given he has it made here and mightn't fancy a move.

He looks so checked out of football that I don't know what you can do to even end things amicably.

There's really nothing in the article at all.

He's just putting the rumours we'd accept offers for him in the summer from last week along with him being left out of the squad and making something out of feck all.

It's the right thing to do. It's pathetic that some of the lads can't even put an effort in for the new manager and prove their worth. It's always been a mentality issue though, they don't have it in them to keep going. Shame Rashford has given up though, I'm sure he'll enjoy a nice holiday in Saudi or Turkey next summer.

Swap for Osimhen?
Swap for veiga in Saudi, if ever you wanted the ideal person for Amorim 10 it’s him. Must be bored out there by now. Can do it all.

This last week the floodgates have opened on TV/radio panels all discussing Rashford leaving. The club have clearly had enough of him

:( 2020 Rashford was the chosen one. It does seem like his time is drawing to a close here.

12th on the all time top scorers list. I will always remember him well.

Rashford is a young man with alot of money, just like Sancho. With the money that he is getting and at 27 yo, does he need to prove himself? I think mentally Rashford has already check out. He doesn't feel he needs to justify his selection, he feels that on his high wages than the manager got to play him. Rashford hasn't improved in the last 3-4 years. I doubt there are any takers for Rashford (maybe Chelsea) or United will terminate his contract and pay him off to leave. Rashford will continue his lifestyle and enjoying his life with Sancho and Pogba.

Careful, chief. Soon be forced to say 'Northern Ireland'.

Speaking of editorial Ulsterisation, a surprisingly good article from Jackson in the Guardian which swerves the usual 'Brexit Jim' guff in favour of actual analysis.

Though, and I loathe typing such, I can't help thinking Rashford will become rejuvenated at a new club and his United replacement suffers.

Then a sorry slew of 'Rashford targeted by Tory Jim' owing to you know. Jackson leading the charge.

Suppose the club actually was thinking about Rashford leaving, and would listen to offers

What sort of daft negotiating tactics would it be to leak stories like this out to the press, illustrating how desperate they are, devaluing the deal they might hope to get?

It’s his only chance. United have persevered too long trying to motivate him. Personally think he’s lost his football mojo and he will retire early

Absolute the right step, provided that the article is correct obviously.

Nah, someone at United clearly wanted this made public.

because journalists like Jamie Jackson would never make stuff up and/or create drama on their own, right?

These articles don't help United at all. Don't know why they would want this out there.

As Mike once said, no half measures.

We've been half arsing rebuilds and resets for years. It's been a disaster. Let's do it properly, and let's be ruthless about it. Get rid of as many of the overpaid layabouts and sicknotes as we can. We're not a charity and we're not a retirement home

Cry for the staff losing their jobs and the fans getting priced out of the stadium. Not the bloke on 350k a week.

The club may very well have had enough but is anyone reputable saying it?

Also how does it help the club? They'd obviously want everyone to think they want to keep him but would accept an offer. Why drive the price down?

Isn't all this pure media speculation? What happens if Rashy returns to the squad like normal? And Ruben clarifies he was just late for some meeting or something minor like that.

I have been firmly in the ”give him time, he is one of our own and still one of our most talented players” camp for a long time. But the time is probably up now. His lack of fight and desire on the pitch is far to often a bad look. And it has been going on for a long long time now. He is certainly no kid anymore, one of the most experienced players in our squad these days.
I guess we are a bit desperate for some extra cash as well and maybe they think Rashford is the one high profile player we could live without and also could generate some serious interest and big offers.

Can easily see this going the same way that discipline and public comments went with Sancho. I'll hold out a small bit of hope for a positive reaction though. The fact this is needed in the first place says he's not right for what the club needs to challenge, and he'll regress again and again.

Do we really need a third Rashford thread? This could have gone in the Rashford (out) thread surely?

The time was up long ago. The club have been a hostage to whatever mood he's in for a good two or three seasons. It's dragged on for too long.

This won't solve all of our problems but we can move on from this one and get started on the next issue.

This is bigger than Rashford. I have been saying for years that our main problem is the 'United way' and the fact we have to stick by youth players no matter what. This has meant nearly every manager we have had post Sir Alex has to build around Rashford. I knew when Amorim signed that we will know if he has a chance depending on what happens with Rashford. It's the best indicator we have had in years that we are shifting our philosophy. No player should play for Man Utd not only if they arnt good enough but also if they don't fit the managers plans. We will never be a serious club until this happens.

Rashford is only an indicator though. No point doing this with him after 9 years then hanging our hopes on the next academy graduate thats not forfilling promise. We need to do this with every player. Garnacho doesn't fit. Gone. Mainoo is not right. Gone. And not in 9 years but ASAP. I don't want them gone but I think it has to happen if thet dont fit the current manager.

Anyone think that all the for sale reports and disgruntled fan opinion might just be the kick of the arse the boy needs?

Can’t wait to see him leave

His attitude stinks you can see it just watching him play football

Local lad who supposedly supports the club as well

Do one
