Manchester United transfer news and rumours for summer 2014

Without the realistic target factor, aka the muppet in me...

Toni Kroos, not so sure how good he is...
Marco Reus, 40m
Luke Shaw, 27m
Edinson Cavani, don't want...
Cesc Fabregas, 40m
Eliaquim Mangala, not seen him
William Carvalho, not seen him
Arjen Robben, no (if we get Reus)
Thomas Muller, no
Mats Hummels, 30m

We'd look good, 137m...

That would be a steal of Ronaldo proportions... a more realistic number would be 50-60m.

I'm at the point with regards to our midfield that I'd be fine with whoever the manager signs as long as it's a mobile all-round midfielder or a creative, skillful one. Just as long as their more mobile then Carrick, Fellaini or Fletcher so we don't have to see them start for us always.

Is Reus really that good? I've seen Dortmund live against HSV (They got hammered 3-0) and on TV in the Champions league and I've never seen him look like he was anywhere near worth that figure.

I think he is, one of a handful who could get to Ronaldo/Messi level...

Can Rakitic play as part of a two? Looked really good last night. It'd be nice to have a quick midfield, we've not had speed in the centre for years upon years.

I think Pedro would be a decent option to look into as well.

If Reus is not available, we can surely look at him, wouldn't be so expensive as he's surplus to what Barca have and is real quality.

I know we've been linked with him for the last year, but I wouldn't be surprised to see us look at Garay again. I haven't seen him too many times but thought he looked very good last night.

Shaw-£30M
Garay/ Benatia- £15
Rakitic-£20
Vidal-£50M and Nani
Reus-60M or 45 and Kagawa

Total spend:175M- Sales(25M or so)=£150M

The summer to end all summers.Totally unrealistic but wouldn't it be nice.

Oh wow, I haven't seen this myself but I'll trust your judgement. In that case we should hand over some serious money for him before Bayern or Madrid do.

I think People have severely overrated this guy. 60 freaking million? Only if you use the Andy Carrol transfer as an example. Reus turns 25 this month and people think he will approach Messi and Ronaldo levels?

Messi and Ronaldo were doing more at 21/22 than Reus is doing now. He is a good player but people are making him out to be greater than he is.

Much truth in that... He would be a very great player for us but he wont win games on his own ala Messi Ronaldo even Bale.

Van Gaal has given Ed Woodward, United's executive vice-chairman, an A, B and C list of desired players. The prime potential acquisitions include Bayern Munich's Arjen Robben, who does not take his place in Holland's squad until after Saturday's German Cup final, the winger's club team-mate Thomas Müller, an attacking midfielder, and the Borussia Dortmund central defender, Mats Hummels. Van Gaal has also approved Southampton's Luke Shaw and Bayern's Toni Kroos, who were identified as transfer targets during Moyes' tenure.

Whilst he wont reach Messi/Ronaldo levels, I think he can definitely win us games on his own, shame we probably won't be getting him this summer though.

Couple of bargains there. I'll pay for them myself.

United are attempting to secure the signings of at least two players before the World Cup begins next month, with a £27 million bid lodged for Southampton’s England full-back Luke Shaw. There is also confidence within Old Trafford that a deal can be struck with Bayern Munich for midfielder Toni Kroos before he departs for Brazil with the Germany. With United not competing in Europe next season, however, there is the prospect of Van Gaal operating with a smaller squad than the pool of players left behind by Moyes.

As a result, there could be a greater number of departures from Old Trafford than previously anticipated, although the future of Brazilian midfielder Anderson, who has endured an unsuccessful loan spell with Fiorentina, is once again uncertain.

From Mark Ogden. Good news about Kroos I suppose, but we have been "confident" before and failed. Also, a squad clear out is coming finally coming it seems.

Shaw is almost a definite. Great move.

Kroos, Fabregas seems possible.

Reus would take, as someone else said, a near world record bid probably. You're talking an absolute minimum of £60m I think.

Really hope we finally act in a summer transfer window like a club that claims to be the biggest in the world.

Sagna would be good for us and he's free, so why not?

Nah, on a free transfer as a back-up to Rafael, he's more than good enough.

As a rotation option he would be great. We have no back-up to Rafael.
I don't know, he's only slightly better than Eboue. He's on the same level as Buttner but will expect a lot higher wages. I think there are better rotation options out there that at least have the chance of improving.

I could not disagree more with that, he's miles ahead of Eboue and Buttner, I just think he lost a bit of drive because he wants to win things and he knows he won't get that at Arsenal.

You can't be serious. Same level as Buttner?!
