This doesn't apply with Romero.Football is a universal language and he'll get on just fine. And no, we won't be asking schneiderlin to help out ad it's the responsibility of the whole club.
Hey, Monaco fan here.
I'm gutted he's going. By far the best potential up front, since he can play on the LEFT wing (not right, never ever has he played there), and striker even though he not a pure finisher like....Falcao.
He's super fast on a small distance due to his acceleration, and his technique is amazing. Something in the likes of Moutinho or Kondogbia. He surely is capable of passing it (unlike Falcao), and is able to attack with his back to the goals (unlike Falcao again).
Recently he's started to be good at pressuring when he lost the ball, which is really what he lacked as a player. In Monaco, specifically since the start of this season, he's wrecked any defence (incl PSG, they were all over the place when he started to accelerate), but we didn't have the rest of the team to follow him.
He's not worth the 80M euros (60M£), certainly not. I would say 30M euros is about the price for a rich club. But hey, your board is stupid not to get a striker before, we don't HAVE to sell him, so we've got the power to make you reach deep into that pocket.
In the end, I'm gutted he's leaving for reasons specific to monaco itself (unable to face UK money which is scandalous), and sad because he's a very sweet man. You'll see on his interview, he struggles to look at the camera.
Finally, if you never heard of him, you didn't watch the CL last year, because he was the man on the left wing, and he was excellent at all times. Not because you didn't hear about him that he's not good.
Also, he only scored 11 or 12 goals, out of 50 matches. I know some good wingers who don't have this ratio, aged 28 and playing in the PL where defence is atrocious! (I've followed united for 10 yrs, I'm a great fan).
I remember reading similar about Firmino? ffs since Suarez won the most nutmegs award with scousers in the season they also won most shots off the post award, these kind of stats have increased.Interesting.
So not exactly a last minute panic buy.AS Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev admits they can't believe their luck over the price Manchester United paid for Anthony Martial.
Martial will sign for United today for a fee rising to €80 million.
"It's a unique proposition. This kind of price is normally reserved for players like Luis Suárez and Neymar, two of the best players in the world. But English football is clearly on a different level than the French and United wants to tap its financial power," said Vasilyev.
"It is true that it is eighty million, but that's including bonuses. I will not tell you the exact figures, because he has not yet officially sold. Manchester United began last week to make proposals, but we have refused constantly. Thirty million when forty million, fifty million and then another seventy million including bonuses.
"Yes, Martial is one of the greatest talents in European football, has great potential and has recently been called up for the national team of France. But the deal can not be confirmed yet, so have a little patience please. The policy of our club is that if a player wants to leave and we receive a unique offer, we will cooperate. It was in this transfer case, like when Geoffrey Kondogbia went to Inter Milan."
Cantona thinks we got a deal with this lad.
Well played, that man!Football is a universal language and he'll get on just fine. And no, we won't be asking schneiderlin to help out ad it's the responsibility of the whole club.
Can the lad speak English?
One question: If the numbers seems to be true and it is indeed around £60m for Martial, why did we pass up on Reus for £60m?
#9 has already been printed it looks like.Give him number 14.
It's not, and we probably didn't. Question answered. One question: If the numbers seems to be true and it is indeed around £60m for Martial, why did we pass up on Reus for £60m?
Because the Reus rumour was pulled off some journos arseOne question: If the numbers seems to be true and it is indeed around £60m for Martial, why did we pass up on Reus for £60m?
Another expensive number 9 from Monaco. Hmm...Hopefully he's better than our last number 9!
By the looks of it, he doesn't know he's allowed to shoot at first touch either...Rooney didn't know he existed
