So if he does become a world beater we will pay £58m to Monaco which is a price of a world class player. Where's the profit in that for United:confused:
If he wins the Balon Dor we pay that amount. In this day and age, people are happy with us paying much more than that fee for Gareth Bale and Reus.

The profit comes from IF who chose to sell him. If we pay that money, he would have become that world class player. Obviously we wouldn't look to sell him.

Have you seen how the market is? How soon do you expect him to become the top scorer in the PL or even the ballon d'or and can you imagine what the prices would be for a player of that quality then?

That is ridicolous! How can they use data from FM15 that is a year old!?

I like to keep FM updated myself by using the FM editor, and the data from my current game looks nothing like Sky Sports.

A break down of his fee for SportsJoe.ie

------------------------------------------------------
The fee for Anthony Martial could rise to £58m (€78.7m) if he goes on to become one of the world's best players.
The French striker secured his deadline day move from Monaco, on Tuesday, and United will pay £22m up front.

The Premier League club will then pay £3.5m over the next four years - adding up to £36m (€48.8m).

However, according to French broadcaster RMC, an additional €30m of add-ons could make the 19-year-old United's second most expensive signing of all time [Angel Di Maria cost £59.7m].

Monaco could bank another €5m each time Martial finishes the Premier League as top scorer - to a maximum of €15m.

There is another potential €10m if Martial wins the Balon D'or while he is with United.

More realistically - for now - Martial's former club will get €5m extra if the striker wins the Golden Boy. That award is given to the best player in Europe under 21 and decided by a host of top European football journalists.

Previous winners of the award while at United - Wayne Rooney in 2003 and Anderson in 2008.

£22m sounds much better.

Also with all those addons Monaco must really rate this guy.

Pretty reasonable for a player wanted by a number of top clubs.

Lets hope we end up paying the whole 58m.

Also, Anderson...

Just to weigh in my thoughts on the player as I've watched him a decent bit this past season..

This opinion bundled about in the media that he destroyed us in the Champions League is lazy journalism and false. It's basically Monaco beat Arsenal therefore Martial must have played very well. In truth, he didn't look too sharp against us and didn't give Hector Bellerin much trouble over both games. He got an assist on Berbatov's goal.. but he found himself in a 2v1 due to our defensive naivety. Those two games were poor games for Martial.

Despite this, I have watched him in the Ligue 1 and he has looked better in those games. He's definitely a good young player and could develop into a world class player. I think, at this moment, it's the wrong signing for United because you needed proven quality who can come in and do the job immediately and I don't think Martial is capable right this second.

I think this signing is also a statement of LVG's faith in Rooney. Martial is a great signing if you're expecting him to compliment a striker who is already banging them in. He's not ready to be that guy himself.. but he can work playing up and down the wing. If Rooney hits the ground running, it'll probably work well enough for United.

We could have signed Reus or Greizmann for that money and have a ready made world class player without the risk of flopping.

But if he does eventually cost the amount of money that we could have got Reus or Griezmann for then he would have become a much better player than either of them by that point and provided us with 3 amazing seasons and a Balon d'or, so it's a moot point.

I'm surprised by that, I believe RMC have reported that the potential add-ons are much easier to reach, and were: 10M€ if 25 PL games, 10M€ if 25 games with French selection, 10M€ if he's in the top 20 for Ballon d'Or. French media are widely reporting this and believe 20M of add ons will easily be reached. Curious about the harder add ons being reported by English media.
Apparently he asked for the Ballon D'or clause, he must be very confident.
I doubt that's true, he wouldn't have a hand in negotiating anything concerning the contract between Utd and Monaco.
Is he cup tied ?
Nope.

I hope he starts and Rooney is moved back, where we also have better players, but how or never, just once he's out of that striking role for someone who'll at least make a run.

That's another scenario I was hoping for. I don't know how well Martial is going to do coming from the French league to starting up front in the Premiership at 19 years old. Hopefully he will take to it like a duck to water. Rooney is more suited for the 10 than the striker role. He tends to drop back too deep. I'm just curious if people think he will slot right in the first 11 since he is so young. Frankly, I hope he does. We need to start scoring. I am not sure that problem was addressed very well in the window.

Just regarding the price, PSG payed 45 million euros for Lucas Moura 3 years ago, and despite not exactly hitting the heights yet, no one bats an eyelid or mentions it.

I expect him and Juan to build a great understanding. Hopefully they make music together.

How many Goals had Rooney scored for Everton when we paid 30m for him?
We bought Rooney after he shone in Euro 2004. His goalscoring record was nothing special at Everton.

No, I mean I hope we end up paying all the add ons because that will mean we've won the league, champions league and Martial has scored a load of goals and won WPOTY

Don't worry, I was just being silly; I know what you were implying. If we end up having to pay him his Ballon D'or bonus then he would be an absolute steal at the price we're paying.

It'll be interesting to see how he does against Portugal on Friday.

He's been a very good player at the start of last season, until he got injured. He's started this season brightly and was quite good in 2013/14 as well. Might go a bit under the radar, but he's been a good investment for them so far. I'd love to have him at United. Just saying.

Oh and really excited about Martial!

Again prefacing with - had no clue who he was till a couple days ago and the clips / articles is all I have to go on. I think LVG will not making him a starter for a while. Sad thing is watching those highlight videos is that one of his strengths seems to be dribbling and going at defenders - often resulting to ball loss and LVG is going to philosophize him to death. I do think with him and Depay, Rooney will thrive. He'll have people playing at pace and Rooney will be pushed by it and be at his best when things are quicker. It would be nice to see LVG play front 3 of Depay, Rooney and Martial (or Young) with Mata in behind them - saw such a huge difference in being able to get delivery fro the right when Young came on the other day - the opposing left back actually was not able to clog up the middle. Mata is another player that can really benefit from Martial, another player that will make runs behind and be available for those intelligent balls he is so capable of. LVG might be even more inclined to now let him play there as he is also a good goal scorer from that #10 position.

Can't wait to see him play and see what all the fuss is about.

He could be better than Greizmann.. thats why we have gambled on him.
