Manchester United name John Murtough as Football Director and Darren Fletcher as Technical Director

Credit him for Mount?? Havertz and Kovacic have pretty much been wrapped up by City and Arsenal despite their interest seemingly coming after ours for Mount.

Mount wants to leave, has refused new contracts and is set on joining us. This is as easy of a deal to complete.

Sorry John.

Mount and Onana by the end of June would be decent work, if it happens.

Sorry John.
This post is really dim. Murtough is operating under very different financial constraints for obvious reasons.

“Easy” - this ain’t FM pal
The transfer windows managing United on FM are actually quite hard!
Same as in real life, it's nearly impossible to sell your players, and every player you want is suddenly 100m, with unreasonable wage demands. FM is a lot harder than people think

Surely you can understand why a lot of posters here don't want to give the club the benefit of the doubt when it comes to transfers?

Nothing to do with FM - we just don't have the best track record at getting players in and out the door in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

But no, go ahead and ridicule anyone who doesn't have their blinkers on and isn't deluding themselves into thinking that somehow "this time will be different".

You've a bit of a point with Pereira but he'd been impossible to shift prior that and we've a sell on clause for Iqbal who's obviously not rated at all by the manager.

But come on, you think we should have kept Henderson after the way he behaved (strong rumours he was one the leakers as well) and Ronaldo?? That's hilarious
No, no. My point was that in 2 years he managed to do only 4 sales.

Of course, over the years it has been incredibly frustrating to see deals get completed seemingly more swimmingly than when we had Woodward/Judge in charge.
If I remember this correctly Judge never answered his phone and made it difficult for agents to get deals through. This coupled with Joel having to take an age on every decision (much like the sale at the moment) added even more time constraints and difficulties on top.

Now Murtough has his team in charge, this season should be go ahead more swimmingly than previous. This isn't helped by Joel, again, needing to veto sales and get them through, but it seems like Murtough and his team are getting sales through. It is looking promising that we'll have 1 if not 2 purchases complete by the end of the month. For sure Mount and I'm hopeful on Onana.

But to claim it's "easy" is preposterous. Lots of moving parts, lots of agents and marketing percentages and goal/assist bonuses to work through of which have been completed. (Widely reported that personal terms agreed) Then we got to work on the fee with Chelsea, who might I add, don't want to let him go. It's the player who is pushing for the move. What's the fee that Chelsea want and what are we prepared to pay. How do we want to pay it. Can we negotiate to something we both agree on. When we do we want the player in. Will Joel ok the money being spent. How much is too much that we want to spend.

So many moving parts and it's not as simple as clicking buy on Amazon.

To claim that any transfer is easy as

"Player wants the move" - "Buying Club Bids" - "Selling Club agrees" - you're living in a fantasy land.

Chelsea don't even want to sell the player, so they're going to make it a little difficult! Posters claim about Kovacic, Havertz, Ziyech - Chelsea want to get rid of those players, the players want the move so they're infinitely easier deals to make.

We all need to take things into consideration and look at things from a wider perspective.

Look at the Onana deal, that on the outside looking in, is looking like a much easier deal mainly because Inter are far more open to selling him than Chelsea are with Mount.

Point taken but you forgot Chong and are counting this window which is only just opened. If we count the last one it's marginally better as we got a lot for Dan James but yeah a lot of free transfers and outgoing loans alright.

Not defending either here because they still have a heck of a lot to prove with us but free transfers in part because we’ve put underperforming players on massive contracts which no one else is willing to match it can afford. Either that or the likes or Pogba etc. ran their contracts down as well. So it’s either low fees (so buying club can afford the salary I’d guess), frees or we’re stuck with said underperforming player(s).

Same reason we’ll struggle to shift Martial, we’re accepting supposedly €2m or so for Bailly etc. We’re still going to be paying the price for this for a while yet - either until the team starts performing or EtH/back room staff has managed to stop rewarding mediocrity/holding on/renewing for “value”

Yeah hopefully its symptomatic of clearing out mistakes of the past but we'll see I suppose.

Transfer window is not just about buying players (where he sucks too). Guy, so far as DoF, managed to loan Henderson, sell Iqbal for 900k, sell Pereira for 10 mil and terminate Ronaldo's contract.

Guy is just out of depth on this position.
You say those like they are bad things

It is amazing how we keep appointing wrong people in important positions. It is unreal.

What can he do if Chelsea are being unrealistic? Offer handjobs and a night out in Manchester?
I am not talking only about Mount here. He has done a bad job last summer with paying 100m on a player who is only worth 50. Trying to do the same thing now.

fingers always get pointed at managers, coaches, executives as to why we are such a shit show when it comes to the off field stuff such as transfers. yet as its quite clear, year on year, its the effin owners. unrealistic strategies and budgets and then panic.

Posts like these are chuckle worthy. Murtough has relevant experience for his promotion and he made on error for the FDJ saga last summer (which in turn affected Antony ls valuation) but has otherwise performed well.

And this approach for the summer I can't fault whatsoever. People will just moan for the sake of it.

"Performed well"
Posts like these are also chuckle worthy.
He spent all the budget on a player worth 50m and when Ronaldo left in winter we had no money left and had to settle to scraps like Weghorst. He did not performed well.

I hope some of you give you Murtough and the recruitment team credit if he manages to pull off Onana and Mount by the end of the month

What exactly do you want to give him credit for? Chelsea want 65m for Mount and Inter want 40m for Onana. We will pay 60m for Mount, from our initial offer of 45m. And 40m for Onana.

The genius case of John Murtough.

We could have them tomorrow if we offer the fees today. He will wait and 'negotiate' another couple of weeks, to pay the eventual price anyway.

"all the budget", what?

He bought Casemiro for 70 odd mil and Martinez for what 45m? He snatched Malacia from Lyon in the 11th hour too.

Ive addressed the Antony point already. Chelsea spent 70m on Kepa. City have made 50m errors a few times. Liverpool overpaid for Keita, big fecking whoop.

His window wasn't bad last season so stop trying to spin a daft narrative.

The news of a rejected bid broke mere hours ago, why are your knickers in a twist?

News of a 3rd rejected bid broke a few hours ago. This mount episode has been going on close to a month now. If you're a united fan and not upset about how shit we are at transfers then you're the weirdo

Unnecessary name calling there.

This deal is not easy. It’s going to take time. Feck it took Liverpool at least 3-4 weeks to complete the MacAllister deal. They only just announced it recently!

Calm the feck down and be patient.

It’s like you expect the team to buy and sign 4 players the second the window opens

The transfer window opened on June 14th and you're annoyed that we haven't walked away on a deal? And you called me a weirdo

We sent our ceiling yesterday. It was turned over same day. Chill the feck out.

If these lads allow ETH to bully them into getting the club ripped off by Chelsea for Mount then they should be chased out of OT.
