Manchester United - January transfer window 2015 (twitter blacklist applies)

If that Tor-Kristan guy is right and Schar is available for 5 million...

I haven't seen a ton of him but when I have he looks to be a comfortably better passer than anyone we have at CB (Excluding Carrick cameos, obviously). No real idea about how he'd do at the actual defending part of the job.

If we don't go for him, surely someone like Arsenal or Liverpool, who both need a depth CB, will.

Yeah, Schar looked good any time I've seen him. For the price that's been mentioned (5-12m) he'd certainly be a better gamble than someone like Ron Vlaar.

Are you the Cafe's ITK ITK, agent khoazany?

:wenger:

If you accidentally followed these accounts in their early days it wouldn't be that hard to trace their real owner.Usually they have their real Twitter account follows their "ITK" account so in this case you only need to check who's the only Edward in that following list.

Vlaar would be free (in the summer) & is proven to be a good premiership defender, so how exactly would it be a better gamble, than paying a fee for a player who has never played in the premiership?

Simple. Ron Vlaar's appearance record so far this season looks like this: OOOXXXXOOOOXXXXOOOOO. Notice the amount of x's? Those are the times he's been out injured. That's just one more PL game he's featured in than the injury stricken Chris Smalling. Vlaar also has advancing age and a ridiculous history of nasty injuries on his record (broken foot, cruciate ligament, bacterial infection, medial ligament, cruciate ligament again and a calf problem he's been dealing with for the last few seasons at Villa).

In fact, while he has actually put in a decent amount of appearances at Villa considering all those issues, his stop-start fitness issues have seen the Villa fans complain about their inability to get a settled back four. Sound familiar?

So while Vlaar is indeed a good premiership defender he is also one who would be extremely unlikely to stay fit for an extended run of games if we signed him. That makes him a bad gamble at any price given that the one thing we need above all else is a CB who can actually stay fit.

So, without having seen anything at all of Schar, it seems pretty obvious that a defender with a chance of staying fit would be a better gamble. Especially given that even if Schar was a failure we'd likely still recoup most of the fee we spent on him anyway given his age.

Jackson's source was probably Agent Edwards.

We could offer Dortmund a bit more than his release clause in hopes of being allowed to talk to him before everyone else...

Edit: I meant Reus

Those guys are in a relegation battle, no way would they sell now.

Even if they were willing to, it's pretty much in his hands where he ends up. If he doesn't want to come to us, and go to Bayern/Madrird/Chelsea etc. then he'll just end up there.

Yup. You can forget signing anyone from Dortmund this window.

There isn't a right-back in the Premier League worth pursuing in my opinion. I've given up on Rafael and his injuries, but the likes of Clyne and Coleman would command very high fees, and aren't far superior to a fit Rafael.

Clyne wouldnt be too expensive. His contract runs out in 2016 so he is within the last 2 years and his price will begin dropping as a result. He would be a good shout for us. Much needed pace to the attack.

I hope Adnan is back for this window, he was a monster in the summer regarding Twitter!

Are you Ed Woodward? We're you in charge of the Fellaini deal? Why the feck if his release clause is x would we offer x+. Surely as soon as you offer the fee then it gets activated regardless?

Because his clause isn't active yet. If we offer more than the clause now instead of offering the normal amount in the summer, BvB might sell him early for more $$$.

As soon as the summer comes, every team that offers the release clause money will have the opportunity to speak to him and then he could go anywhere.

Ooh. Better do as Rado-N says,
If you don't do as he says, he'll get his dad to beat up your dad

With regards to Vlaar - I dont like his injury record. He will become just another glass defender to add to our collection of glass. Furthermore, I dont actually think he is particularly good. Just because he is dutch, doesnt make him World class.
We need to look very closely at the potential signing's injury record.
If he he is already injury prone and we sign him and he gets injured - we only have ourselves to blame.

Both Godin and Cuadrado have release clauses that are under 30m and would do wonders for our side.

What the feck is your problem? If you have a problem with the rules of the site I can simply revoke your posting privileges?

Considering you've only been here 5 minutes you might wanna wise the feck up.

Just curious, how old are you?

Godin, has mentioned that he wants to stay at Calderon for the foreseeable future.

I wonder if that is like when Ronaldo wanted to stay here or Suarez wanted to stay at Liverpool or dozens of other times a footballer says something but doesn't actually mean it.

SAF said he wouldn't sell a virus to real then Ronaldo left. There are countless other examples.
Money changes everything, if we pay his release clause and double his wages we have a very decent shot at getting him. I think he should be our #1 CB target.

Agreed on Godin, not sold Cuadrado at all.

Cuadrado has been off the boil this season but last season he led the serie a in completed dribbles and we really need someone fast on the wing who can open up space. His release clause makes him all the more attractive. If we can get someone better Id be happy with that as well...but Cuadrado can be got in January.

I agree that we need a player of that type but I'm not sure there's a rush for one in January, I think we can get top 4 as we are and evaluate attacking options in the summer to go for the title next season.

Because genius, the release clause doesn't activate until the summer. Offering a higher fee to Dortmund means we could start talking to Reus directly from January; we get a headstart on our rivals.
