Manchester United - January transfer window 2015 (twitter blacklist applies)

Don't apologise, I was joking. :)

Is Seamus Coleman that worthy all of that attention? I still believe that the Pole from Dortmund, Piszczek, is a better shout than Coleman and would certainly cost less than the estimated £25M for the Irishman.

I don't particularly rate Coleman highly defensively either. Piszczek was great at his best, but hasn't been the same since his injury, though the German fans probably know better than I do. Plus, he turns 30 at the end of the season, so not the best age wise in such a physically draining position.

I think 'Agent Edward' might have pinched his exclusive from the Daily Star who had that in today's paper. My point being that it's bullshit.

Probably won't happen anyways but doesn't Coleman get injured a fair amount anyways? Would rather just get someone with a flawless injury record, or close to it.

From what I saw of Cuadrado in the World Cup, he looks to fit LvG's way of playing.

He can be utilised at right back, right wing back and right winger.

I'd also take Clyne for his versatility to play left back.

The last thing we should do is panic buy on players we don't really need to nail down the top 4 spot. We should think ahead and sign players that fit into the grand scheme. I'm looking beyond next summer here, but no reason not to start already if someone becomes available.

If I could pick five somewhat realistic signings I'd go for Laporte, Clyne, Strootman, Kovacic and Depay. If we can start the process of bringing in some of those in the January window that'd be just terrific.

Wouldn't mind seeing Anderson, Valencia and Fellaini axed either, while Fletcher should hang up his boots. The loanees Cleverley, Nani, Hernandez and Zaha could also go without me kicking up a fuss, even though we could possibly use Zaha or Nani next season if they do a Young and suddenly start playing out of their skin again.

Rafael not good enough but Coleman is? Yeah ok

I like Coleman good player, but a deal for him just doesn't make sense for me. He's turning 27 this year and Everton will want £25m for a right back no thanks. Better players can be had for a lot less i imagine.

Coleman fecked up his chance of a big move by signing that new contract i reckon, like Baines he will probably see out his career there now.

Coleman would cost a lot and isn't all that young either so I'd say the story is bullshit.

That said, if we needed someone who could be effective as either a fullback or a wingback then maybe he'd make more sense than a lot of other options? I mean he has a good bit of experience playing as an out and out winger and does provide a goal threat from out wide....

There isn't a right-back in the Premier League worth pursuing in my opinion. I've given up on Rafael and his injuries, but the likes of Clyne and Coleman would command very high fees, and aren't far superior to a fit Rafael.

Too bad, "fit" and "in form" Rafael is a rarity. Considering that both Clyne and Coleman are actually good PL rightbacks, they're certainly 'worth pursuing'.

Can't believe people are discussing a tweet from agent Edwards.

Got to agree with this list of targets.
Very sensible, very realistic and very very good players.
I would love us to sign these guys.

But really, none of those players can be realistically acquired in January. Actually, maybe Laporte if we activate his release clause, but doing business with Bilbao is like dealing with Spurs.

What is his release clause?

Does anyone no much about Laporte. Have only seen him twice but has impressed on both occasions.

How old is he and how good can he become?

I know he is around 20, so definitely one for the future. He is playing in that Bilbao side at that age and has CL experience already. Bilbao aren't the easiest team to deal with as we found out with Ander.

a solid centre back and a right back would be very useful

it would also be great to get a player who would add some unpredictability and pace to our attacks....

at the minute it seems we are relying on Young's crossing at times

Coleman is a much better player than Rafael. Less injury prone. Just as good going forward. Better defensively. Less prone to rash decisions. Would be a big upgrade.

All hail Agent_Edward. The king of ITK's.

20, and I don't actually know if this is accurate, but on FM his release clause is 35.5 million euros I believe. However, I'll have to double check.

The clause is 36m and will reach 42m.

Martinez dismissed the Coleman rumours today.

By caf logic that means they're desperate to sell, right?

I think Coleman would be a good move for us. Especially given how often Rafael is injured. We would have 2 class wingbacks for the right side with those two and could rotate enough to keep both of them as fit as possible.

Seamus Coleman would be a fantastic signing, a very good RB. I'll like us to go for anyone of Garay or Fabian Schar too [And they'll be quite cheap].

Why would we pay 25 million for Coleman, where is our scouting structure? The best RB in the league is Carlos Azpilicueta who cost Chelsea 7 million. We need to upgrade from Raphael and Valencia but not for 25 million.

We should be going for Clyne not Coleman. Coleman has had a average season at best and is definitely not worth £25 million.
