Manchester City under Pep Guardiola | Pep on City v Liverpool ref: "He likes to be special"

I like how our fans believe everything they read.

They pay 60m for another CB but can't afford Sanchez, great stuff.

None of our fans believe it, we know Sanchez rejected them.

Exactly! Glossing it over with all the bull crap that they walked away from the deal. They were probably told that as soon as Sanchez knew we were in for him, he was coming to us. £60m on yet another defender??? :wenger:

I was drawing a conclusion from Pep's tweet about lack of funding. Many thought he was referring to transfer funds, whereas I think he was talking about wages. City cannot compete with United on this front due to FFP regulations.

The Sanchez deal is not connected at all. For what it's worth I believe 100% Sanchez snubbed them in favour of United for numerous reason stated before.

We have a £70m player on 500k\week? That is news to me.

We do have a £89m player on 275k\week and a free transfer on 300k+\week wages though.

DiMarzio reported Alexis was on 300k after tax so 550k before. The total deal value is 180million over the contract.

He came to United because of money, City wouldn't have had a problem matching 300k gross in 2018

He came to united because they met Arsenal's valuation. City were only willing to give £20m wheras united offered Mkhitaryan which is more.

Sanchez was offered £13m net by Man City
Sanchez was offered £14m net by Man Utd

Sanchez number one priority was to leave Arsenal and I am not surprised that so many Arsenal fans are ignoring anything that supports this fact.

Di Marzio also reported Pogba earns 13 Million net but football leaks showed he earns upto 290K per week including performance bonuses and everything. There is always a confusion on net and gross when Italians report it.

Also Di Marzio reported City made 1 million less to Sanchez, so your argument that city can't match offer is completely wrong.

Clickbait headline where he says nothing of the sort in the actual article.

"I think it's a different thing now - you collect the top players in, if not the world, then Europe, mould them into a team.
"I think that's a different thing to some of the Man United teams of the past under Sir Alex which were moulded out of partly very good signings and partly players who have come through the system.
"It's a different kind of thought now. I think the demands of the Premier League are getting much, much higher.
"They're buying players fit for task, or virtually fit for task - that's the demands of the Premier League."

You missed a bit.

"I remember Pep himself when he was at Barcelona talking about why buy players when you can play young players, but even he now at Man City they're buying players, there are not many young players coming through the academy that they're playing.“

And that translates to abandoning his principles? I'm pretty sure the line I quoted was him explaining and backing why he'd just said that and his general message is the premier league doesn't allow it, even for Pep

Raft of injuries but would rather leave bench empty than give youth a spot.
His record since Bayern is pretty shite imo.

Pep trying to be clever only naming 6 subs citing “bad tackles are costing us”.. is really contradicting the “Pep is a master at producing youth” and the “City have the best academy in the world.. why not start using it then?

That's pretty pathetic. They have the league won, throw a youth player on the bench, for feck sake.

Worst case scenario: There is none.

Best case scenario: You instil even more hunger in them to succeed after they experience a first-team match day.

City will never have a youth player come through their system and become a first team player.

It's just not going to happen.

Embarrassing from Guardiola and City.

What is wrong with them lately. Running away with the league and still making an arse of themselves.

This is going to be an exhausting weekend for the City fans who defend everything Pep or their club do on here.

The most expensively assembled side with no player having been bought for a lot of money (as per St. Pep) doesn't have the squad depth?

Cost= average amt. paid for a player * number of players
Cost - High
Amount paid for players- low
Number of players- low

And people will eventually buy into this excuse

Genius from Pep!

feckling hell. He's spent 500m or whatever the figure is in 18 months plus has a number of highly rated young players who would probably fecking kill for a place on the bench yet he goes with 6 subs, shit management that it does nothing for the playing staff at City.

It was like the other week when he made comments about not having the budget to sign Sanchez...is he actually trying to get sympathy here? look at poor Pep he can only field 6 subs today, he's really struggling to get a team together.

Poor bugger.

Luckily there's loads of City fans popping up on here now so they can all share the load.
I appreciate rival fans adding another element to the forum but what does it really add when they take City's side no matter what?
I'm expecting excuses about it being harder to break into Peps sides due to the high level of tactical knowledge it takes or the name Kimmich to be used time and time again.

I agree yeah.

I don't understand why Pep is going down this "poor me" route recently. First the comments about how they couldn't afford to spend £80m on one player and now this 6 subs shite.

Is he seriously trying to look hard done by?

Can’t wait for Pep to feck off to his next “challenge” at PSG or the next sugar daddy owned club.

Neville is right. Why wouldn’t you take an academy player to sit on the bench? This is purely to force some pathetic agenda that city haven’t got a big enough squad with the right quality. Pathetic. I’m not as anti pep as some on here but this certainly makes him look like a complete tool.

I’m watching them now. They’re relentless in possession and pressing! We always dominate possession but always fail to calve out any real chances and when we do we fail to put them away more often than not.
