The press articles I've read went overboard in stressing how really furious City are...'cos, y'know, making a show of anger means that you're innocent.

Now the FA, PL & EFL should strip MCFC of all trophies won during the offending period. And the football broadcasters - if they have any backbone, which I doubt - should sue for big compensation for being sold rights to competitions undermined by cheating

Yes and no. They got banned 2 years ago, appealed it to Cas and it got overturned. Then got banned the year after and didn’t appeal. Cas deemed the punishment to be excessive in the first case. You’d imagine before UEFA gave the punishment the year after and then to City now, that they are confident the punishment is not excessive this time.

Milan failed to break even. City cooked the books and the amount that they cooked was huge. It's not the same case.

Let's hope so... it needs to be treated as a penal case, with penal implication. If that's the case, even city won't be able to avoid sanctions, including sports sanctions.

No - they're in a dire need of rebuild, and to replace David Silva, Aguerro, Fernanndiho in addition to getting a LB/CB. Which quality player would forego 2 years of CL to join City? They're fecked, Liverpool have a clear path to more PL trophies simple as. Unless Ed gets his fist out of his own ar$e.

I definitely see the two year ban as UEFA expecting it to be reduced on appeal. So go for double the punishment, and then end up with the punishment you wanted to give them.

If they had not of been banned from Europe but fined £60m.. they would have felt they got away with it. Money is endless for them.

Yes, it's actually pretty common. For exemple, Milan was sanctionned by the UEFA last year, they went before the CAS, the CAS said the principle of a sanction was fine but that it was excessive and asked UEFA to give a better motivation or to reduce the sanction. In the meantime, Milan negociated a deal with the UEFA for a 1 year ban and the deal was validated by the CAS.
