Manchester City banned from CL for 2 seasons and fined 30 million euros | CAS - Ban lifted, fined 10 million

This verdict this morning won't be the end of all this whichever way it goes. If City get off then there's going to be a lot of people at Uefa unhappy. They surely didn't give them 2 years ban on a whim did they? They must have had a decent amount of evidence to issue the ban to start with. Otherwise they were setting themselves up for huge L.

And if City don't get what they want they won't drop it. They will claim agenda and say its unfair no doubt.

It's all been a huge mess. Clearly we as United fans are biased as hell in all this but the growth of their 'revenue streams' is just absolute nonsense even to some bertie blues. There's just no way it grows that quickly. Chelsea have been owened longer by Roman and won as many trophies and they didnt grow this quickly off the pitch. Its blatantly obvious they have gone against FFP.

However PSG have too for me. Absolute disgrace this is just City in the dock. They are equally as bad.

PSG took their fine and didn't try to deceive UEFA. City have been fined and then went on to further deceive UEFA so they are not equally as bad.

Ian Cheeseman wouldn't have stuck his neck out like this on Friday unless he was super confident of his information.

Interesting I was thinking they would probably get off, lets see

I am glad we are in a good position anyway now.

Imagine being stuck at the 5th position and they don't get banned for a year. What a shitshow this is

I’m so excited and nervous. Best case scenario City get banned for two years and we smash Southampton to take us to 3rd.
Pretty sure all of that isn’t going to happen, it’d be too good to be true.

If the Man City appeal whatever the decision is today, is their van suspended until the outcome of that appeal?

That would probabky be up to uefa... but let's say a challange in the eu courts took two years and city won it... at that point I suspect they would go after uefa for hundreds of millions in lost cl revenue, advertising and reputational damage

I can see it getting overturned as they are that’s what they do best, get away with breaking every rule possible.

I can see them accepting a reduced, 1 year ban as next season's Champions league will be a strange one anyway.
I don't think they can touch their vans.

I reckon they will get off. Too much confidence that they will get away with it and will be overturned for it to be founded on nothing.

No idea what to expect later. A week ago I was convinced the ban would stick, now not so much.

The confidence coming out of City mouthpieces is a bit annoying, but then they have everything to gain from sounding confident pre-verdict (appeal, maintaining innocence, reputation, etc) than if they said nothing. Who knows. Also worth noting that no reputable journo has claimed to know anything regarding the outcome.

So, with an hour to go, what's everyone's predictions?

I reckon they'll reduce the ban to a year and half the fine. Man City will accept this.
All or nothing.
I think if City gets off we will hear leaks about now. If not they are locked down preparing their public outrage

What does that mean?

One year suspended ban imo. Token 'punishment' which will vindicate both parties. The rest will be swept under the carpet.

Whatever I've read about CAS gives me hope that they're a highly ethical organisation. And whatever I've read about City suggests they don't really have a case.

I see the original ban being upheld and pandemonium ensuing at City.

Theyre gonna get away with it arent they.
Well the good news is that they're obviously guilty, everyone knows they're guilty, and it is impossible to exist any evidence whatsoever to prove even the smallest particle of innocence. That part isn't a problem.

The bad news - powerful rich people who love money, and know they can get away with taking a few brown envelopes of it, will be offered money to allow a football team to play in a football competition.

It might be an element of City just saving face and then acting like the CAS are corrupt and they had the perfect case and are innocent after they're slapped down.

Hard to say.
