It's young people having fun to commemorate an event where young people were attacked and killed for wanting to have fun.
Not sure much more than that can or should be read into it.

It will help a lot of the kids at the original concert get over a traumatic event I would have thought. Many of them are there tonight.

You call it hipster charity, but it's still charity. As in, the money goes to those affected. No matter how cynical your view of it, that alone makes it worth it.
