Man Utd set to appoint Director of Football (when hell freezes over)

Why are people talking like it’s mourinho or Woodward. We’ve just seen evidence that mourinho isn’t doing enough and we’ve had five years of evidence that Woodward should be managing bank accounts of some bullshit company and watching football in a vip booth. It’s a disgrace what’s been happening and will continue to

Cannot wait for the DoF appointment so Ed can just go back to shaking hands with Pot Noodle bosses.

WE NEED FOOTBALL HELP. SOS ANYBODY

Since we appointed Woodward he hasn't had a plan for us other than to make money, that's why were in this mess.

So if it’s all Mourinho’s fault and no new players were needed, if Mourinho is sacked the new manager won’t need any new players, right?

No. A manager obviously needs funds to buy his own players and build his own team. Mourinho got over £350m to do that and signed almost a full XI of players and has completely failed with them.

Exactly. When you don't give the manager the players he needs even though Mou has progressed in each season the failure is with the owners .

Well silver lining is at least Woodward knows his limitations and is open to restructuring the footballing operations; judging by his post-match actions, he does care about the state of the club and will try and rectify the situation. I expect a big turnover by next season, a whole bunch of players and personnel must go.

Watching people blame Ed Woodward for Jose Mourinho's inability to get a team with players like Lukaku, Martial, Pogba and Mata get more than two shots on target is hilarious.

How about blaming the players?

I’m not a UTD fan, but losing to Brighton having spent half a billion since Fergie left has nothing to do with Woodward.

If we’re talking about overtaking City, then fair enough, but Brighton are Brighton, and Mourinho is Mourinho.

Money, or lack of money should not come in to today’s result in any shape or form, it’s Brghton.

Probably to celebrate our new hairdryer sponsor, and congratulate them on a job well done today - leaving everyone bemused until they realise he probably doesn't understand we lost.

His job is to deliver to shareholders. Our stock price is excellent. He's doing his job.

The sooner we fans of the football club realise that we're to blame the sooner something will happen with regards to our issues.

Wishing that Ed was a fan who cared about the football is naive and counter-productive.

Glad that Ed Woodward stood up against Jose Mourinho

I'm sure this wasn't about money - it's pure lack of ability by Jose Mourinho to bend his tactics & adapt them to the players at his disposal.

Whilst players that he didn't sign himself struggle - so do players that he himself has bought & Jose continues to play the same type of football, the same type of tactics & formation to = surprising no avail.

There are holes in our teams that can easily be changed by playing a different formation, there is types of football we can play to not embrace such defensive football, there are players that Jose can better utilise.

Why should we just buy another player that he himself will struggle to get the best out of?!

Well done Ed. Sack the manager & Finish it off with a director of football.

Just see how quick and efficient other teams took care of their business this summer when the transfer window opened. I don't know why we always seem to dillydally in the market and wait till the last minute to make big signings/attempt to make big signings. The board might believe that the dramatic last minute signing is great for creating media/fan hype but from practical standpoint, the new player doesn't get any preseason. Was it Ed's idea to wait until after the WC when the values will be way inflated? Ronaldo leaving Madrid screwed up a few of our potential targets too, which we may have avoided by acting decisively early. How did we somehow become the name for the players all over Europe to "leak" to the media whenever they want a better contract from their own teams?

I don’t think that is true at all. Looked like there was a plan with LVG to build a team then pass it over to Giggs. However fan and media hysteria and Jose being available they threw out the plan, bottled it and appointed Jose. We also seem to be making mass changes with the structuring of the club, so there must be a plan for the future.

I think there is a plan for the future it just hasn’t been fully implemented yet whilst they set up the structuring around that. Unfortunately I just don’t see Jose being part of that plan going forward.

Regardless of who you are up against when you have 2 CB's that don't have the experience or the level needed at the moment to be starters for a top club and you end up 2 down due to CB errors, not to mention another 4-5 chances created because of our inability to get the ball out of our half you are bound to be in trouble.

Brighton are not a pub team.

It's crystal clear for everyone that our full backs can't create enough in the attacking third, or CB's can't participate well enough in the build up and neither can even do the defensive job at hand tracking his marker.

Jose begins building his teams from the back. When you don't address all those issues it's obvious you'll struggle yet again.

If the board doesn't back Jose, then he needs to resign as soon as tomorrow, no point writing off yet another season.

Amazing how Woodward could not deliver 1 defender for Man Utd let alone 1 CB.

I get what you’re saying, but a couple of weeks ago, people were saying the 30 million pounds Bailley was one of the best in the league, and along with Lindleoff (I may have spelt that wrong), who cost 31 million, should you or the neutral public expect more from them?

Jose has been backed since he has been at UTD, who spent 70 million in the window, to go on top of the 150 million last season. I do get the concerns, especially with City strengthening and Liverpool, but my point remains that people on here are getting annoyed at losing to Brighton, but that shouldn’t be about money, based on the team you had on the pitch.

I am not sure the Board trust Jose. If he wants a long term project, and be there for years on end, then he can’t spend 150 million every season.

On what planet does it have to be one or the other? For example, you can make independtly shit posts in many threads. Bury your head in the sand all you want and keep it nice and simple so you can understand it. Meanwhile the club is being ruined off pitch. They’re separate things and both Woodward and mourinho can be to blame.

My posts in independent threads are accurate. I've been saying as much for a long time.

The football we play is abysmal and that is down to Mourinho and Mourinho only. It's his team and his responsibility.

You have nothing to support your argument about the club being ruined off the pitch. Save your wailing for another idiot that cares to read your nonsense.

I told you all in the summer, this guy is the problem.

He thinks he's the manager and he's a Glazer stooge.

We were 2nd in the table and progressing and we've let teams go further ahead than us and let teams catch up with us because this clown Woodward thought we had good enough centre halves and that he was above the manager when deciding on the future's of crap players like Shaw, Martial etc.

I said the day the window closed that this buffoon should be driven out of the club and was laughed at on here. I'll keep reminding you of it all.

He was spot on not giving Jose money if this is the kind of shite he serves up. It was fecking Brighton for gods sake, you hardly need to be world class to see them off.

United's team after LvG was sacked consisted of one world class player - and that was the keeper.

We needed a major overhaul and we still do. You can't replace 10 players in one transfer window. I see a lot of people saying we're better off in 5-3-2. I know Jose said he wants to try it. Put an experienced head like Toby in the middle, someone who can also pass a fecking ball from the back and suddenly more players will begin playing to their strengths.

If the board doesn't trust Jose why give him an extension and then let him down in the Summer? Makes no sense apart to probably couple of feckwits on our board...

Completely agreed. Great call, saved us from wasting more money.

Leave the man alone !
We don't need another 50mil defender to apply pressure on fecking Brighton.
How many transfers should he approve if we are going to continue playing shite uninspired football ?

As a Liverpool fan who's spent well above that in 28 years and never won a title, you should know its about far more than the manager.

You're on your high horse now but what United are suffering from know is what you've had for over a quarter of a century. It's far more than just the manager selection, as any Liverpool fan worth his salt would know.

It's all the owners and their puppets like Woodward's fault. All of it. 100%. When the next manager has the same problems will our fans see it? Probably not sadly.

But then why did he give him another season? It's obvious he doesn't trust Mourinho so the right decision would have been getting rid of him, we could have gotten Pochettino before he signed his extension with Tottenham, now that ship has sailed and we are stuck with Mourinho and his repugnant football for yet another year. Please don't give Woodward any credit he is completely inept of making any good decisions.

Regardless of him being at fault or not, not spending big on CBs isnt a reason why we couldnt have a go at freaking Brighton.

The way Ed probably saw it is that there are 5 CB's in the squad and 2 extra CM's (Fred and Pereira) available. In other words, he likely thought the squad was good and deep enough to compete for the title or the bare minimum; top 4.

He didnt have a choice, because JM`s sperm product enjoyed watching PSG, probably not so much after he extended contract tho.
Yup, the clown played the situation beautifully to his advantage. Should have called his bluff though.
