Because its silly. You have to be truly fecking retarted to even think Barcelona dont at least try and play good football. They have a completely different forward line to last year, but are still playing well, regardless.

My opinion is that while Mourinho had similar results, he did not play attractive football, simple.

Barcelona were awful tonight and were diving left, right and centre. Inter played much the better football, and did something no other team have done this season in scoring 3 past Barcelona.

Entertaining they were, boring they were not.

Look, Elivs, I read about a third of that and I still cant believe you want an argument  I'll summarise the first part and reply to the rest tomorrow morning if you like?

Not an argument, just a debate, it's the whole point of the forum.

Mourinho is a bloody good manager, i've never disputed that. I dont like his style. He makes me laugh and everything, but did you see Sky today? I think I heard Mourinho mentioned more than anything else.

They mention him because he has the charisma and personality and because he used to manage in England. He's good with the media, the english media in particular, and they love him for it. It's natural they're going to talk about him more.

And why can't a manager take some of the credit for the success he's achieved?

Terry and Lampard were getting to an age where they start to reach their prime, besides some would argue Lampard is having his best ever season - not me - but its debatable. Regarding Terry again, while he was good that season, the hype surrounding him didnt help. The fact he's English, the Captain and 'ard as nails also helped. You say his manager helps, yeah without, but I dont think he had that big of an influence. Terry won Chelsea player of the year in 2001.

Lampard has been fantastic this season, but he's in an ordinary Chelsea team at the minute and all the other central midfielders are a bit crap. Ballack, Deco, Mikel. The only World Class midfielder they have other than Lampard is Essien and he is out most of the season anyway. So it's not hard to look good in a midfield like that.

Terry and Carvalho were awesome together the first two seasons. They set a new Premier league record for fewest goals conceeded and most clean sheets and still managed to score about 70 odd goals. No easy task.

I'll agree about Cech, but he wasnt making the mistakes he does these days.

That's because there is no protection from the midfield as Mikel is rubbish and the defence isn't as good as it used to be. That and he's declined as a goalkeeper.

Inter showed a lot of character in dismantling Barca today. Mourinho deserves a lot of the credit.

barca maybe awful but i do NOT think inter have better players than us. they also have old players like their captain and lucio, so you may hate the style of mourinho but you cannot deny he is a good captain. saf may be reluctantly to retire and we also want him to continue forever but would u like to see mourinho succeeds with other teams or let him come here to win trophies. everyone of us, even saf, wants us to win trophies but it does not mean they have to be won with saf being our manager. it is timing. mourinho may have signed for other clubs. then should we waste money on compensating others? yes, there are other good managers out there but why not get one we have confidence?

I agree, had Inter been thoroughly beaten today, people would have said, "Oh another choke job by Jose in the CL and Inter also" (forgetting realize Jose won it with Inter). Inter's tactics were spot on, I have not seen a top team do that to Barcelona in a long time, I was thoroughly impressed. Sneijder did a real good job of linking midfield to attack which I thought really opened it up for Inter, Barcelona like to defend from the front when they dont have that option they are not a top defensive team. As for how Inter played on defense, other than that awful play by Maicon they had really everything going well save for a chance here and there, even when Barca were really pressing at the end they didn t look all that dangerous.

Well never underestimate Mourinhno's team. You know when you need someone to do a job he is the one.

Yup, they've used that against him in this thread despite his only CL showing with Inter prior to this season was against the then European Champions. So far he has beaten Chelsea home and away, CSKA home and away and now Barca at home. Extremely impressive and the way Barca will no doubt set themselves up at the Camp Nou will play into Mourinho's hands.

Some people will never give the man any credit though.

He I think Jose is very successful. He won the CL with Porto and won the EPL twice, FA cup once and despite the fact Benitez had his number never left CL before the semis with Chelsea. And he clearly has charisma.

For all that he is a guy I do not want at Unted... and having said that I really do not want to face him either. Hope he goes to Real or something :).

I think most people respect him as a manager and his achievements but that doesn't mean he should be immune from criticism and there have been some very valid points made against him becoming our next manager.

Well I hope the Man Utd board were watching tonight - negative, uninspired football, constant cynical behaviour from his players and utterly classless behaviour by him on the Barcelona pitch afterwards.

No thanks - he's not fit to lace Fergie's shoes, let alone replace him.

Did you watch our games against Barcelona in 2008?

If anything it was an affirmation that he's a great manager. 10 man side defeated Barca to get to the CL final.

Your down to 10 men and playing against the best attacking team in world football.

Use some common sense. Huge victory for Mourinho.

It was a great defensive performance, which is what you have to do against Barca. Did Baldwin expect Inter to go to the Camp Nou and attack when they had a 3-1 lead and were down to ten men?

Daft. His team are now in the Champions League final.

Mourinho is welcome to Old Trafford as far as I'm concerned.

I don't think there's a better candidate out there. WHoever takes over from Fergie will need to have a huge personality - he clearly fits the bill.

WUM?
If not then you have just proved that you know absolutely nothing about football

At the end of the day, he went to Porto and they won every trophy available. He went to Chelsea and he won two successive league titles. He went to Inter and won Serie A, and has now got Inter to their first CL final in thirty-odd years. It's no coincidence success follows wherever he goes.

:lol::lol::lol:

That was EXACTLY the same way we played there in 08, with 11 men in the first leg behind the ball, but unlike us Inter were defending a 2 goal lead with 10 men on the pitch for the majority.....

Mourinhio is class, tactically outclassed Barcelona.....the only candidate to succeed Sir Alex.

Mourinho beat Barca the only way possible with the tools at his disposal. Superb.

Nice to see all the Mourinho lapboys are out in force tonight, led by you...

So it's all about winning then? Everything else that Manchester United under Alex Ferguson have stood for can just go out the window?

It is all about winning. Nobody cares who finishes 2nd.

Still waiting for Baldwin to tell us all how we played any differently against Barcelona in the Nou camp 2 years ago to Inter tonight.....with 10 men and a 2 goal lead to defend.....

Also worth noting Inter attacked Barcelona in the san siro more than we did at Old trafford that year to......interesting.

lapboys:rolleyes:

So I can't like a manager without being referred to as a lapboy/fanboy?

When you have a better argument, I'll respond.

He doesn't have an argument. We are Manchester United! We defend against no-one!

I hate stuff and all. But anyway who would you rather have?

I think if Mourinho was appointed it would become the Mourinho-Show instantly. It frustrates me so much that so many kids posting here are so enthusiastic about that just for the sake of winning at all costs.

I'd rather have someone from a similar background to Ferguson who would run the club in the same way, and continue the tradition and legacy of Manchester United into the future. I don't want some egotastical Portugeezer getting under everyone else's noses, playing 'winning ugly' football, and potentially harming our wonderful tradition of identifying and promoting youth.

I think I was the first here to vote for David Moyes and I'll stick with that. I've a funny feeling that if Fergie has anything to do with identifying his successor it will be Moyes or O'Neill - he'll want to see a British manager given the opportunity.

That's never been wholly the United ethos though. We have been extremely lucky in recent years to experience a sustained period of success, but also playing, on the whole, attacking football which is the United way, and what many of were attracted too when we first started supporting the team before the SAF era.

Its astonishing that this thread has been bumped to knock Mourinho on one of the most successful nights of his career at Inter.
