He'd be the highest paid manager in history, with 200million a year to spend on transfers. He could take a minnow club like City and win them big trophies.

Surely that'd be more attractive to him than go to United, have no money, and have to live up to a record like Fergie's?

I think that's the exact reason he wants the United job, and why he would stay here for many years.

Average. Not to mention letting Maxwell go at Inter and signing Muntari, Mancini, Quaresma for big fees.

Green - good signing
Blue - mixed bag
Red - poor signing

All the poor signings were relatively inexpensive or freebies, except Shevchenko (who probably wasn't even his signing).

I think his transfer record is as good as any top manager's, and better than most.

I just think getting Mourinho would mean we would lose most of our culture. It would mean everything focused on Mourinho, every decision, every comment, whereas Moyes, would come in, be more efficient in the market, and the attention would still be focused on the club, and not just one person, Mourinho.

But trying to win titles at United when United have little money to spend compared to what Fergie had to play with previously?

I'd say Mourinho like a challenge, but I don't think he's that stupid.

Winning trophies with City would be an easier challenge to accept. And even with all those billions he'd be doing something that no manager could do for 34 years.

So you would rather do that, have a team of "triers" and win feck all?

Moyes is one of those managers that has the potential but yet to actually have top level experience, you really want a manager to replace SAF that has hardly any experience of European football, very little in terms of trophies and has never took charge of a 'top team'? We need someone with experience, a proven top level track record and the character to replace one of the greatest managers of all time and right now that man is Mourinho.

Wow, Mourinho way ahead. I didnt expect that, I have to be honest.

I wouldnt say I was 100% and totally against appointing Mourinho, he'd be like a last resort for me, but I seriously wouldnt like it. I just think that its possible that we can maintain our way of playing free-flowing attacking football and win trophies. I think its possible that we can still bring through youngsters and still be a success, without Mourinho. Appointing Jose would mean we'd be throwing away the foundations and traditions we've built since the club was formed way back in the 1800's, and it would go against the Matt Busby way.

United maintaining pride and traditions > Mourinho and winning football

When was the last time this actually happened? Did you watch our semi-final in 2008? We were poor for the most part last year, and it's been a while since we played good football consistently.

The way some of you lot go on you'd think we'd been perfoming like the Brazil of the 70's the last few years.

Yep, it's that wanting to build a dynasty of his own, and he seems to crave ultimate control, which is why he may be dubious of City and their rich owner look at how Mourinho and Abramovich turned out, players (Shevchenko) signed for him.

I see him being much more likely to end up at the Bernebeu this summer

Chelsea with robben & duff > us last year, and probably the year before that.

But hey some people like to make out that jose's dull and we're not.

Well he said he doesn't like Italy so I can't see him being at Inter next season, definitely think he'll go Madrid and then come here when Fergie leaves, which I think will be next summer. Thing is, I can't see Mourinho spending just one year at Madrid.

I loved that Chelsea team, doesn't get as much praise as it ought to do. Were it not for a ghost goal they could well have won the CL aswell.

I still remember that Gudjohnsen chance right at the end of that game, couldn't believe he missed.

Would it feck.

If you say so. I hope you enjoy chanting the old "1-0, to United"

I'd say the last time we played like that was 3 seasons ago, with Rooney and Saha up front, and Giggs and Ronaldo on the wings. Hardly an age. Its entirely possible.

For your information, I dont know if I could go another season watching the one last year. The football played was pathetic, and thats what it would be like with Mourinho.

Rooney, Ronaldo and Tevez > Robben & Duff. In my opinion of course :)

once again would it feck, if you need proof look at chelsea's scoring records whilst e was at the club, or porto's whilst he was there, or inters of late.

Now look how they are high scorers, strange for a 1-0 team.

You can quote facts at them all day, but some people just have it ingrained in their minds that Mourinho has produced the most dullest, boring football ever, which is nonsense.

Mourinho to Real Madrid for next season to win La Liga with them, comes to England in 2 years when Sir Alex steps down and brings Ronaldo back with him...

His Chelsea record? Thats down to how poor the opposition was, in my view. Werent we like 15 points off the top? Awful. I havent seen enough of Porto to comment, and I dont particularly like Italian football, but when i've watched Inter, they havent been too bad in fairness, but hardly orgasmic football or anything. Again, thats probably down the way football is played in Italy, so i'm going to go by what I saw at Chelsea, and let me tell you...I didnt like it. Ugh, I just stopped watching them in the end.

It had it's moments, it wasn't non-stop like that Chelsea team.

We'll have to agree to disagree.

Again, just for the sake of it even though people won't bother to read...

09/10 - Inter (top scorers in Serie A now)
08/09 - Inter (top scorers in Serie A)
07/08 - out of job
06/07 - Chelsea (2nd top scorers in PL)
05/06 - Chelsea (top scorers in PL)
04/05 - Chelsea (2nd top scorers in PL)
03/04 - Porto (top scorers in Por Liga)
02/03 - Porto (2nd top scorers in Por Liga)

How exactly do his dull 1-0 teams outscore everyone in their respective leagues so often?

Nope.

Wait, are you actually being serious? One game and all of a sudden he plays attractive football? Nonsense. I dont need to comment on anything else, i'm going for a run.

Damning evidence to the myth of defensive football.

Good post.

I think Mourinhos teams play decent football, he always creates a physically strong team though which make them seem defensive.
