Fair play to City. No player in the history of football has ever suffered a long-term injury before... This is unprecedented territory for a football club. A lovely gesture.

Bizarre thread. The players shouldn't show support for one of their own suffering another in a long line of potentially career ending injuries?

Nothing wrong with supporting your team mate with a serious injury. It's not like the Liverpool and Suarez situation.

Somebody could have at least told them that they had the shirts on the wrong way round though.

Meh... I don't see the problem with that. Does every unconventional decision made by our rivals have to be cringeworthy just because they are our rivals?

It's bloody cringe worthy PR nonsense. There's absolutely no reason for the over the top public display of support.

I think it's a pretty nice gesture, anyone finding a problem with it is just being petty.

We did something similar for Alan Smith (I think) can't really criticise City for doing similar.

Yeah we did...

I sort of agree. Nice for Gundogan to see I suppose, but does feel a bit cringe worthy.

Did we do it for Smith?

It's fair enough imo. Gundogan must be in a dark place with his injury history so this would have hit him harder than most

I've got no problem with the gesture itself but the backward shirt thing looked stupid as feck.

I guess it was a cup final instead of just a league game, but whatever.

But they can (and more than likely have) expressed their support and best wishes in private. My issue with it is that by making it public and over the top it cheapens the gesture and makes it look fake. Public support is only necessary when someone receives public criticism.

First thought was 'cringe'. Nothing inherently wrong with it though, just seems a bit unnecessary?

What we did for Smith was dedicate a trophy win for him.

Are City dedicating this league appearance to Gundogan? It's a bit weird.

People have way too much free time to think and moan about stuff.

It's absolutely pointless. It's not like he had a potentially lethal injury or health issue.

He's a crock on top of it, nothing new.

It's pretty standard for Spanish teams, I doubt if many of the City players thought it was unusual. A bit like getting cake on your birthday really.

We did that as well when Badstuber got injured last season. I liked it - Badstuber is one of our own and extremely unlucky when it comes to injuries.
